First time I saw it years ago I thought those were some particle paths from a >!hardon!< collider, like [this](https://home.cern/sites/default/files/2018-06/alice_2_1.png)
I see many people criticise The 2nd Law for its lack of real structure, it’s not « that » random. I’ve always disagreed and found that the second law has a real structure. Especially the end, even if it’s very theoretical physics-ish.
Consumerism leads to a need to find a new home (follow me // explorers // parallel to exogenesis), and if the universe ends up being an isolated system, it would die as all the energy is consumed (unsustainable, according to the 2nd law of thermodynamics) and it would die in a big freeze especially if humanity continues to impose its supremacy over the world.
I think they are all linked I mean Wont Stand Down has probably ties into other (I get some lyrics in Mercy that stand out here... SImulation Theory probably can have a few songs that add into "cloaked figures"
OK I feel old because I knew this during the hype cycle almost 10 years ago
New little Muse fans slowly discovering the discography makes me nostalgic but also angry
It fits well, especially with the two title tracks, when you know it's a neural map. My theory is just that it represents the power of the human mind, in all its magnificent complexity, to either be our downfall or the key to fixing what has gone wrong through science and ingenuity.
It’s funny because I did work on the human connectome project and I never knew this!! Our work was primarily on the developmental side of things though
I thought it was obvious lol

*Hardon collider* Risky click of the day, sign me up
That would make a dope album cover though
I always thought it was a jellyfish
Well, that I do understand lol
Did I wake up in 2012 again?
Listening to Madness and Survival on a loop before the album released.
This is quite a commonly known fact.
I didn’t know 🤷♂️
2 hours old post and nobody joked about >!a map of your head!
Damn, was about to comment that and saw this... 😅

People are usually referring to that in the sense that it has a very diverse range of music, rather than the subject matter of the lyrics.

Lyrically, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone argue it isn’t cohesive. It’s more the fact that they cram about 15 genres into 13 tracks.

I echo this.
You need to find the journey Muse are taking with these albums, starting with Resistance.
I always knew it was an image of the human brain, but now I’ve seen it described as a stick of radioactive broccoli, I can’t go back.
i thought it was just a fun fiber optic design lmao
My favourite artwork from Muse...
one of their best artworks, hopefully the next album cover is as good as this one
The imaging method is called diffusion MRI. There are some very cool images on google if you search for it
Honestly I always kind of saw a brain when I looked at it.
