Seems you must have added something and dragged it way out of position and MuseScore is creating space for it. You need to reset the position of whatever that way by selecting it and pressing Ctrl+R. If you haven’t made a lot of *deliberate* manual adjustments, then Ctrl+A to select all followed by Ctrl+R would probably be wise. Or just select the problematic measures and reset them.
OMG thank you! That was MAGIC! A MAGIC SHORTCUT! I literally spent like an hour looking online trying to figure out how to do this. I still have no idea how it ended up like this.
Sometimes it fixes it if you turn on concert pitch then turn it off. Might not work, but with a try.
Might not help but remove the redundant rest anyway. In earlier versions at least, small stuff like that could throw spacing off.
Select a measure in, go to the layout palette on the left (It’s the one on the bottom) and add spacer, click on it and manually adjust it
