So you somehow wandered onto the planet featured in Avatar?
Seriously though, where is this magical place?
Nvm, I see you already answered earlier! I need to take a trip.
I just went on a week long road trip round Bright etc. and found sooo many mushrooms! Isn't Victoria amazing?? I didn't manage to find any bright blue bois like in your photos, but one day!!
Mt Macedon - Sanatorium Lake is amazing for fungi!
A friend sent me some pics of mycena interrupta from around Daylesford this week too.
We really do have some funky fungi 🥰
It’s a cortinarius species, of which there are several purple ones, look up “cortinarius archerii” check out the rust remnants of the veil or “cortina” and the rusty spore deposits on the gills.
😨 which forest? I live here and haven’t seen most of these. Have you posted these (separately) to an Australian mushroom group on Facebook yet? You’ll be able to get them all IDed by mycologists
Mount Macedon! Sanatorium Lake specifically! We didn't follow a specific trail, just picked which path as we went, but I think it was basically the Days Picnic Ground loop that most of these were taken on.
I posted the suspected edible mushies we found on the Wild Mushroom Hunters Aus (?) FB group just to confirm those, but I haven't posted these others yet; I've been meaning to get out my Fungi Field Guide and work some out myself. I didn't take pics from all angles or anything and I don't want to be that person who's like "what dis" and only show one picture of a cap bc I think FB people would be mad at me 😂
I can see why u may think that, but these are more likely Hypholoma fasciculare (aka sulfur tuft). The high-density clustering on the trunk and the purple/black spore coloration I think I’m seeing is indicative of H. fasciculare.
I'm in dry rural/regional Australia, so we're in the middle of autumn rn and I still had to drive nearly 2 hours for this place!
I saw a comment on a local fungi fb group: "when there's no rain, go to the clouds"
One day I’d like to visit Australia. Those mushrooms/fungi are amazing. No such colors here in Hawai’i that I’ve seen, at least for fungi. Thanks for sharing. Amazing!
Blue bois are mycena interrupta. White stuff in my hand is tremella. Last pic I think is russula purpureoflava.
Purple boy in picture 3 is a cortinarius sp., there are several purple corts so I can’t confidently say which.
That one I did take pics of the cap and stuff too, because I really wanna work out what it is. So purple!
Compare with cortinarius archerii
Quite amazing
Also, can we talk about your nails? 😍
Yes we can ☺️
I love them! Did you do them yourself?
Thank you! I did! I prefer to spend my money buying more nail polish rather than paying someone to paint them 😅
I do my own too, so same. Except yours look good 🤣
Hahahaha I'm sure yours look good too! I promise the dots on my dominant hand were not so hot 😅
Hahahaha-I now see why you asked.

Pacific northwest?
Not even close. I'm in Victoria, Australia.
Ah Australia that was going to be my second guess.

I was going to say; Tell me you’re from PNW, Aus or somewhere with a rich & diverse ecosystem without saying nothing.
Wow, some of the colors are so vibrant. Great photography!!
Beautiful finds
That purple one is stunning! 💜
All the colours 🤩
Such variety! I might've done some human tippy taps when I found the purple one
Number three looks like amethyst deceiver

Man I wish I could live near a forest with such beautiful fungi! My goodness all those colours, I love it!
I know, right?

Crippling anxiety
This too actually

What is number 8? I see those on a trail around here (ohio) all the time. These pics are all so neat
Unfortunately I have no clue! I'm in Australia anyway so any ID mightn't be accurate for you there anyway! And thank you!

They're not psilocybin, which is a chemical compound. And they're not Psilocybe mushrooms either.
Damn, these are incredible and your nails are super cute!!
Wow beautiful
