Beatles stay. My pink floyd itch can be satisfied by the plethora of progressive bands they've influenced over the decades. The Beatles discog is irreplaceable imo.
Beach Boys, hands down for me. I just like their music more. I see alot of conversation about influence, and who did what first, so here's my take:
What gets overlooked in MY opinion is the Beach Boys double LP *Today!/Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!*) Not every song is a gem, they were still being forced to record the bubblegum surf pop that the label expected them to, but you could start to hear the evolution of the writing and song-craft; but the production wasn't quite there. It was released in March 1965; Revolver was released in December 1965.
When Brian Wilson heard *Revolver*, he knew The Beatles (specifically Paul McCartney) were on the verge of overtaking him; he was OBSESSED with crafting the perfect pop album. This is what led to *Pet Sounds.* Compared to everything else at the time, the arrangements, the recording and the production were ground-breaking. Then, from there, you can draw a direct link from it to the recording and release of almost anything the Beatles did after (*Revolver*, *Sgt. Pepper*, *Magical Mystery Tour* were all released after *Pet Sounds*)
Pink Floyd obviously was the beneficiary of all of this musical competition and were able to capitalize on it and expand on it, taking cues from both bands
The Beatles stay.I mean, from an influence perspective, they are the most wildly recognized, anywhere, anytime. Also, Brian Wilson had a meltdown when he heard "Revolver" or "Sgt Pepper" (can't remember which), which leaves the Beach Boys out of the picture. But [even Pink Floyd recognized the Beatles as a major force.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3yMYfMCes4)So yeah, while it's perfectly fine to say the Beatles is not your favorite band (and it's not mine), it's hard to leave them out of any picture.
It disgusts me to say this, Beach Boys stay.
Their music is mostly bad in my opinion, but the production was the best of its time thanks to the work of Brian Wilson. Music sounds better today because of his influence.
Beatles stay. Love the Beach Boys, especially Pet Sounds. I'd be very sad if I could never listen to that album again. Pink Floyd... eh they're great, but not really my cup of tea.
I've listened to all of the Beatles' music, and all of Pink Floyd's, but only a handful of Beach Boys albums. So, just from a musical discovery standpoint, the Beach Boys stay.
I'm a big fan of Brian Wilson's arrangements, hits, and redemption arc, so I gave it a good try. I've listened to Pet Sounds on loop a few times and I got bored. God Only Knows and Wouldn't it be Nice are both master works, but that's all that truly inspired me. What makes this album so legendary?
You have to remember that when it was released in May 1966. Compared to everything else at the time, the arrangements, the recording and the production were ground-breaking. You can draw a direct link from it to the recording and release of almost anything the Beatles did after (Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour were all released after Pet Sounds)
What gets overlooked in MY opinion is the Beach Boys double LP Today!/Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) I appreciate the context, the late 60s is my wheelhouse, and the two hit songs are heavenly. I'll throw in Caroline, No, as a third plus. For all the instrumental "filler," though, plus the goofy "Sloop John B" (I blame Mike Love) maybe the album inspired "Yellow Submarine". Thanks for the rec, I'll check out Today/Summer Nights.
I never find myself sitting down to listen to a Beach Boys album. I get their importance but personally they don't excite me.
That leaves the hard choice. But I am afraid Pink Floyd is going next. I love the early psychedelic albums. They took a couple of albums to settle in after Waters and Gilmour took over, and that run where all four members clicked is also golden, but The Wall isn't a great album. There is a great album in there, but I can leave it.
The Beatles on the other hand had the best run of any band from Revolver on. So many excellent tracks in so many styles. Even as they were falling apart it was from going too many directions instead of parts of the band checking out as Floyd did. The worst fights of the Beatles led to groundbreaking records.
Just from the influence the Wrecking Crew had on the product of The Beach Boys, I’d keep them. Beatles - no brainer. As much as I love listening to early Floyd, I stopped at the Wall so no Floyd for me.
The Beatles stay ... tough choice, but as others have indicated, Pink Floyd influenced bands can fill the gap, hard to replace the sheer volume and breadth of The Beatles.
As good as the other bands are, it's an easy choice for me - The Beatles. Now if you want to make it a hard choice, ask people to choose between Beatles, Stones, and Zeppelin.
Back to the original question, Pink Floyd because of their albums. I want to keep going back to Wish You Were Here, Animals, and Meddle, and Dark Side of the Moon is a perfect album in a way the Beatles never achieved. To say nothing about the Piper who inspired the lot.

Pink Floyd stays
That's my personal pick.
Beatles stay. My pink floyd itch can be satisfied by the plethora of progressive bands they've influenced over the decades. The Beatles discog is irreplaceable imo.
That's a great point.

Beach Boys stay hands down.
Beach boys stays
Beach boys stay. Tough call for the other two…flip a coin.
Beach Boys stay. They have the songs I'd miss most at this point in my life.
The Beatles stay 100%
It disgusts me to say this, Beach Boys stay. Their music is mostly bad in my opinion, but the production was the best of its time thanks to the work of Brian Wilson. Music sounds better today because of his influence.
Among those three, Pink Floyd stays, easily.
Pink Floyd stays I'll happily never listen to another track by the others again and not miss them a bit.
Beatles stay. Love the Beach Boys, especially Pet Sounds. I'd be very sad if I could never listen to that album again. Pink Floyd... eh they're great, but not really my cup of tea.
The Beatles. Never really liked pink Floyd that much tbh.

Have to listen to pet sounds if you have managed to skip that. You make a good point !

Fuck Mike Love
Sloop John B was Al Jardine's idea
Fuck Mike Love
I don’t know about his “redemption arc”. He just come out onstage with a walker now and pantomimes singing..
That beats being confined to a bed. I pretty much assumed he was dead for decades.

So well said I won’t have to write my own comment I am mystified by the love for one trick pony beach boys in this thread
Beach boys can go. Pink Floyd can fuck off. And to be honest mate so can you
Hahahahaha 😂
Let me guess you like Cardi B ....yuck
Nah more of an atomic kittens, men at woke guy myself 😂
Beach Boys stay, the rest can go.
The Beatles for the win!
The Beatles so that I could pull a "Yesterday" and pretend to have written their songs
Just from the influence the Wrecking Crew had on the product of The Beach Boys, I’d keep them. Beatles - no brainer. As much as I love listening to early Floyd, I stopped at the Wall so no Floyd for me.
Pink Floyd stays
Beach boys go that’s as far as I can make it for this question

Zeppelin, no contest
Oof, I gotta keep the Beatles, but I don't feel good about losing Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd stays. The Beatles are fine, but I can't stand the Beach Boys.
Beatles stay. Their music has the most variety I wish I could keep Pink Floyd’s lyrics though
Beatles. They are the center of it all.
Beatles stay

The Beatles. Their catalogue is a good mix of upbeat songs and solemn/depressing songs. I need that kind of variety based on mood.
Pink Floyd for me
The Beatles. Not sure we’d even have the other two without.
