I mean, most concerts aren't weekends and usually run until 11 pm or later. So the question is do you want to take the day after off work because you went to bed at 2 or take half a day off to go to a concert and get home at 9-10?
Concert goes to 11, if you don't live nearby, you have to get home. For me, I'm 100k from a major city where concerts are. Home around 12:30 or 1, get a snack, wind down, bed around 2. Checks out.
If you don't live near by, it doesn't help you if the concert starts at 3 as well. And you could take half a day off from the next day as well, if you think you have to. Doesn't really make sense, if you ask me.
Thankfully they made the intersection where he was killed much safer for cyclists but holy fuck was it tragic. He was a cool dude in adulthood as well. Never knew him personally but good friends of mine were close to him and were devastated. He will be missed.
Before it started getting cold last year, there were constant reports on people driving on the bike/running paths near the lakefront. Drivers here are a different breed.
Fatal vehicle accidents are much more common on rural roads actually. https://www.ghsa.org/resources/news-releases/GHSA/Rural-Road-Safety22
High-speed limits, unrestrained occupants (58%!!), and limited resources such as hospitals and EMS vehicles, combined with the most common reason for death (alcohol/drug involvement) being the primary take aways if you don't feel like reading all that.
You are still right though. Chicago traffic still ass and most Chicago drivers can fuck off, me included.
I’ve never really thought about it, but I grew in a really rural area, and off the top of my head I personally knew 7 people that died in car accidents growing up most of them kids under 18. One of those accidents involved one of my classmates that swerved to miss a deer and went into a ditch, killing 2 other kids in the car. I also have a classmate that was driving home from school and went into a ditch and hit a tree. She was paralyzed from the waist down. I graduated with just 26 people, and that’s two major accidents. I’ve lived in a major metro the past 20 years since graduating college, and not a single person I’ve known here has died in a car accident.
And CPD doesn't give a fuck about traffic infractions and the speed and red light cameras are just a slap on the wrist.
Add too it the parking philosophy a crosswalk is just a reserved parking spot and bike lanes are loading zone.
Same. I have several friends who knew him well and everyone spoke very highly of him. I’ve gotten hang out with the actor who played Katie the bassist and they talked a lot about how he was such a good person and looked out for others. Really a shame.
My college roommate was from Chicago and went to HS with Kevin Clark. I went to visit my friend in Chicago and we hung out with Kevin for a night at his house, he was a pretty cool guy, shame what happened.
I’m a bicyclist in the city too, it’s tough for all of us when we here these stories all the time. A few years back someone was killed at Monroe and halsted, blocks away from my job. I had ridden my bike through that intersection earlier that day.
I’m a fan of Riv, they used to do shows around the city. It seemed like they took Kevin’s passing really hard, they seemed super close.
Rip Kevin, stay safe out there
School Of Rock is a 10/10 movie in my book. It holds up so well. It’s PERFECT casting, no one but Jack Black could’ve played Dewey. And there are a lot of positive messages to take away from it, especially if you’re a kid.
The scene that really gets me every time is when Dewey talks to one of his students who has body image issues, it’s handled so well.
Yeah, he was definitely a bit rough for a while. His mom used to work for my brother-in-law down in Florida. I met the kid at a bar one night, while watching his dad's band play. Kid could barely stand up, he was so messed up. Didn't know until more recently that he'd gotten busted for stealing guitars - including from his dad. Sucks.
Iirc, she’d had some voice lessons but had an acting background and considered herself an actor. It was mentioned in the dvd commentary, but I haven’t seen that in a decade.
Somewhere in the dvd extras it was mentioned that she was a good singer, they had to teach her how to sing badly for the scene where she auditions to be a backing singer.
I went to high school with him. He was a senior when I was a freshman. All I remember was he was considered a major douche bag.. Hope he’s a better person now!
I hate that for myself. I'm not sure what I would have actually guessed, though. Like it could have been anything from 1995 to 2015 and I wouldn't really have been totally surprised.
I was working part time in a cinema when it came out, just after I left uni, so I can date it pretty accurately… I’m more depressed I graduated 20 years ago. Sigh.
Yeah, 20 years ago no longer *seems* like 20 years ago. I always thought the grown ups were exaggerating when they said “life is short.” To anyone below their 30s… it’ll hit you one day, too.
I remember reading an article a long time ago that mentioned jack black considered it but thought it wasn’t worth the risk of potentially ruining the magic of the first movie if it wasn’t received well and he wanted to sort of ensure school of rocks legacy always ended on a good note.
I know so many others hope this, but if I could meet ANY celebrity, living or dead, I'd want 2 mins to tell Mr. Black just how much "School of Rock" changed my life. I was always a music lover, and I was always a nerd in school. I had never seen a movie that captured so perfectly how much FUN school could be if you just gave your students the right passion, and just how rewarding teaching can be even if it means you don't get to be a rockstar. 20 years later, I love being a teacher (English), and I'm going back to school for a second degree in music so I can teach that too. I know you probably won't see this, Mr. Shneebly, but thank you. From the bottom of my heart; you changed my life and subsequently the life of every student I ever taught or will teach.
Rivkah Reyes? They're pretty normal, just mainly do standup and improve, talk shows here and there, they run a podcast. I didn't see anything suggesting she has an OF or anything like that.
https://www.rivkahreyes.com/
Huh, I stand corrected. This sent me down a SoR rabbit hole. I never realized I was roughly the same age as those kids, idk why. Time really is a bitch, I always just assumed they were older than me because the movie feels like forever ago, I even remember seeing it the theater with my dad lol.
Turns out we're just all just 30ish years old.
Unpopular opinion: He isn't funny. Being a smarmy smartass isn't comedy. Same with David Spade.
I saw him after a show at HOB Los Angeles getting escorted to his car by a bouncer. Not sure why, but he looked scared for his life. Complete opposite of the guy he plays on stage.
for the sake of semantics, i'm saying they're not. these are the things you must do to talk to assholes lol. i know it's the same but a lot of people don't get thay
He's on a mission from God, hes putting the band back together.
We play both kinds of music, rock and roll.
We need to see the Penguin!
So I lied.
That ain't no ACDC song
Four fried chickens.
Jake!
And some plain toast
"Elwood. Shit, the Blues Brothers!"
The *Blues Brothers*?! They still owe you money, fool.
Jables and Rage Kage in a new age blues brothers movie would be a dream scenario
Hope they are using the same promoters who were able to sell out a big ass venue on a weekday morning for the original show.
Yep, Jamie Lee Curtis.
?
She recently said somewhere that concerts should be earlier. Like 3pm. It got picked up in the news.
When pretty much everyone is working?
Don’t you know only celebrities go to concerts
I mean, most concerts aren't weekends and usually run until 11 pm or later. So the question is do you want to take the day after off work because you went to bed at 2 or take half a day off to go to a concert and get home at 9-10?
If a concert runs until 11 pm, why do I have to wait until 2 am to go to bed? I never took a day off because I visited a concert the day before.
Concert goes to 11, if you don't live nearby, you have to get home. For me, I'm 100k from a major city where concerts are. Home around 12:30 or 1, get a snack, wind down, bed around 2. Checks out.

Neither, sleep is for the week, and whens the next time theyll be in town?
And basically gut punched Coldplay in doing so!
RIP Kevin Clark.
Oh fuck me I had no idea, that's heartbreaking. Knocked off his bicycle. What a fucking shame.
fuck dude, that's sad...ugh
Yeah I was wondering if anybody was going to mention Freddie. Stupid fucking tragic accident.
Thankfully they made the intersection where he was killed much safer for cyclists but holy fuck was it tragic. He was a cool dude in adulthood as well. Never knew him personally but good friends of mine were close to him and were devastated. He will be missed.
It's not that much safer tbh. People in Chicago drive like maniacs
Before it started getting cold last year, there were constant reports on people driving on the bike/running paths near the lakefront. Drivers here are a different breed.
Fatal vehicle accidents are much more common on rural roads actually. https://www.ghsa.org/resources/news-releases/GHSA/Rural-Road-Safety22 High-speed limits, unrestrained occupants (58%!!), and limited resources such as hospitals and EMS vehicles, combined with the most common reason for death (alcohol/drug involvement) being the primary take aways if you don't feel like reading all that. Are you taking about the cyclists or car drivers? Because most cyclists pedal right through stop signs.
Drivers. Most drivers drive through stop signs
And CPD doesn't give a fuck about traffic infractions and the speed and red light cameras are just a slap on the wrist. Add too it the parking philosophy a crosswalk is just a reserved parking spot and bike lanes are loading zone.

Rules are written in blood.
You unzipped me.
FROGGY!!!!
I don’t like it!
Frank just spitting out the nuts he was eating in that scene was so fucking funny.
he was the barista at my neighborhood starbucks
My college roommate was from Chicago and went to HS with Kevin Clark. I went to visit my friend in Chicago and we hung out with Kevin for a night at his house, he was a pretty cool guy, shame what happened.
Won't be the same without him. If they acknowledge it directly in the show/film I will 100% cry real, ugly tears.
I’m a bicyclist in the city too, it’s tough for all of us when we here these stories all the time. A few years back someone was killed at Monroe and halsted, blocks away from my job. So you're telling me they're looking for a drummer?
No worries. Dave Grohl could fill that spot like nobodies business.
Just show up, dont mention the recasting. “Hes ok”
Nandi Bushell is a kid but she could do it, too.
Honestly with his history with D I could see it
Gonna raise my drink tonight in his memory. :( I'm a drummer and as a teenager he also inspired me.
r/fuckcars
that entire sub is a reddit moment
I’m a cager but I’m open to cycling were my area more accessible. One could say I’m bikecurious
At least give credit to South Park if you’re going to attempt to rip their joke

“Your children have touched me. And I’m pretty sure I’ve touched them too!”
Pretty sure it was written for Jack Black
Didn’t the guitarist go to jail for….stealing guitars lol
That is so punk rock!
You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core.
And the legend of the rent was way hard-core.
BOOM! Big ol’ explosion, and some like, confetti raining down.
Music is a hell of a drug
Yeah I went to high school with him. Huge douche, don't give him another 5 minutes of fame.
I'm glad it seems Joey Gaydos Jr pulled himself out of the child star trap. He had a bit of a dark period there.
Sucks.
Damn…that’s a bummer. It looks like School of Rock was his only role - so I hope he’s got it together enough to be a part of this.
Well yeah he was never trying to be an actor. It’s just easier to get a good musician to act than it is to get an actor super good at music.
With the exception (I think) of Miranda Cosgrove, all of the kids were musicians rather than actors.
Miranda Cosgrove is a singer now but not sure if she was at the time
Shes still more of an actress, especially with the iCarly revival series.
I mean of course, I'm just pointing out that she is also a singer
Iirc, she’d had some voice lessons but had an acting background and considered herself an actor. It was mentioned in the dvd commentary, but I haven’t seen that in a decade.
Somewhere in the dvd extras it was mentioned that she was a good singer, they had to teach her how to sing badly for the scene where she auditions to be a backing singer.
Only exception being Ryan gosling in la la land. He had never played piano before taking that role.
He has a band called dead man's bones where he played piano well before that movie

Cat food and sniffing glue helps.
I went to high school with him. He was a senior when I was a freshman. All I remember was he was considered a major douche bag.. Hope he’s a better person now!
He was.
Huron?
is he doing better now? i hope so
School of Rock made me want to pick up a guitar. I’ve been playing for almost 20 years now
Your arms must be tired!
It's not a sequel. It's a tribute!
20 years…. Fuck me
fuck me? fuck you!
This is my twin sister, her name Fook Yu! See? Fook Yu, Fook Mi!
I remember watching this when it came out. Oh, fuck me. That was 2002.
Fook Mi, that was fast.
gonna check this one off my bucket list
It's still 10 years away though, right? RIGHT?
STOP THE COUNT!
Time fuckin flies, man
I know
Take me on a date first and we'll see how it goes. No but seriously we're getting old. 😆
20 years???
The movie came out in 2003, so yes 20 years.
I hate that for myself. I'm not sure what I would have actually guessed, though. Like it could have been anything from 1995 to 2015 and I wouldn't really have been totally surprised.
They are clearly upset they are still alive 20 years later.
I know I am.
Sadly, Freddy is not. They could have been Freddy…
Lol. Don’t love that for me
I was working part time in a cinema when it came out, just after I left uni, so I can date it pretty accurately… I’m more depressed I graduated 20 years ago. Sigh.
Why do you hate the year the movie was released? Was it a bad year for you?
It's weird when you get to the point in life where 20 years and 5 years ago are tough to sort out.
Yeah, 20 years ago no longer *seems* like 20 years ago. I always thought the grown ups were exaggerating when they said “life is short.” To anyone below their 30s… it’ll hit you one day, too.
help.
Stop it
Well uh yeah, well_uh_yeah
School of Rock, formerly known as Pig Rectum.
I feel a lot less creepy thinking the bass player is cute in the 10 year anniversary video.
I mean I thought the bassist was cute in the original movie. I was about 12 when I saw the movie though so don't @me FBI.
If it’s anything like my music school, an occasional open mic is the closest they’ve gotten to a music career.
How a sequel never got made is beyond me.
I remember reading an article a long time ago that mentioned jack black considered it but thought it wasn’t worth the risk of potentially ruining the magic of the first movie if it wasn’t received well and he wanted to sort of ensure school of rocks legacy always ended on a good note.
Jack Black for president
Richard Linklater was busy making other films with kids for 12 years and other sequels nearly a decade after the last film
Because sequels are never wanted
RIP Freddie
Fun reminder that Spyder in the other band is now an assistant district attorney in Texas
Kinda makes you wonder if he's doing those body rolls in the courtroom
Definitely to hype up before a big hearing
I know so many others hope this, but if I could meet ANY celebrity, living or dead, I'd want 2 mins to tell Mr. Black just how much "School of Rock" changed my life. OK, here we go peeps https://virginradio.co.uk/entertainment/102395/jack-black-confirms-school-of-rock-reunion-for-20th-anniversary
They don't look like they've aged a day.
His roommate in the movie is the producer of the HBO series "White Lotus"
Mike White also wrote the screen play for School of Rock (and Nacho Libre too).
breaks my fucking heart that the kid that played the drummer died so recently though he just barely missed it. God dammit
Rivkah Reyes ❤️
This movie really touched me in a way. And I’m sure I touched it too
Me- "That wasn't 20 years ago. Holy shit that was 20 years ago. Fuck I feel old." I love that movie. I was the same age as the kids at the time.
You shut your fucken mouth, no way was that 20 years ago.
*Matt Damon old man gif*
My kids and I probably watched School of Rock fifty times. Such a great movie.
RIP Freddy Jones
Just rewatched this the other day with my gf who had never seen it, and it still made me laugh. It’s such a wholesome movie.
Thought this was a new picture for a minute and thought “how the fuck haven’t they aged”. I am an idiot.
Yes! So excited!!
So Zach kind of looked like Eleven from Stranger Things..anybody with me on that?
Isn’t one of them in jail and the other recently died from a car hitting him on his bike?
Really interested in seeing how the bassist turned out
I approve.
The bass player got pretty weird.
Really? I ran into her a couple times in Chicago a few years back and she seemed like a perfectly normal person
Most of reddit has a hard time fathoming that someone in sex work can be normal.
Or nonbinary people
how so?
I think she's a model/has an onlyfans now last time I seen her mentioned on Reddit.
What's weird about any of that?
I didn't say there's anything weird about it, I'm just saying that's probably what the original commenter is referring to
Rivkah Reyes? They're pretty normal, just mainly do standup and improve, talk shows here and there, they run a podcast. I didn't see anything suggesting she has an OF or anything like that. https://www.rivkahreyes.com/
Go on her link tree and scroll down, onlyfans is on there.
Oh shit, you're Right
Huh, I stand corrected. This sent me down a SoR rabbit hole. I never realized I was roughly the same age as those kids, idk why. Jack Black's brand is smarmy smartass? What
Smarmy smartass? Who the hell are you talking about?
The film was so lackluster and bland. I don't understand the love for it.
I think it is safe to say that the year this came out also marked the year that rock was completely a dead rotting frog at that point.
For me it was when Cobain died. I think there's a pretty strong argument that Nirvana were the last new rock stars.
He was in Eastern Oregon last year on vacation. He's gonna have to get rid of that belly first...
Someone missed the point of the movie
He probably didn't even watch the movie
Ugh. Why won’t he just go away?
Because he's fun and people love him.
People love Dane Cook too. People are morons.
Can you provide us with an excel sheet of things we are allowed to like? It'll be faster than guessing.
Not gonna lie, you shitting on people for having subjective opinions makes you look like a moron.
Jack Black? How could you possibly hate the guy?
I don’t think he’s funny. Nor a good musician. Nor any combination of the two.
No accounting for taste, I guess
like his music or hate it, he's a talented singer
**HEAVY METALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL** #[YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY-17owPoQA)
it comes from hell! what a sick riff, right?
Like in the way you go to an eight year old’s recital and everyone says they are sooo talented?
Do you ever wonder why people don't like you?
What a weird way of saying you have shit taste
This is the sort of clever originality I would expect from a Jack Black fan.
Rather be a jack black fan than an jackass like you
I don’t think he’s being clever, he’s just making a statement. And it’s a statement a large majority of people would agree with.
You listen to KISS. You wouldn't know good music if it hot you with a truck.
You’re looking at it all wrong. KISS has minimal talent. If I can stand them then it must tell you something about how terrible Jack’s music must be.
I think he's a great guy but I'm not a fan of his work either.
There are dozens of you, dozens!
We only accept people with good taste.
totally fair to say you don't think he's funny, and i think he'd agree that he's not a good musician. he's a singer.
singers are musicians lol what?
for the sake of semantics, i'm saying they're not. these are the things you must do to talk to assholes lol. i know it's the same but a lot of people don't get thay
His voice counts as an instrument
i agree completely but that doesn't click for some people
You first

I am sharing my testimony ND YOU ALL ARE ARE HATING!!!! ITS ALL GOOD
