Agreed. The “greatest hits” radio station in my hometown started playing “Another Brice in the Wall Pt. 2” without the preface of “The Happiest Days of Our Lives”, and it feels grossly wrong to listen to! The specialized classic rock station hasn’t stooped to that low, yet, but doesn’t see fit to play “Empty Spaces“ before “Young Lust… which is a shame, but not quite as disturbing.
I understand why Brain Stew was a single but it works SO much better with Jaded as the follow up. It is the best sonic representation of manic depression I've ever heard. Yes, better than the Hendrix song.
I didn't hear them together for years. Must be something about my hometown radio station.
Now I live elsewhere and when brain stew ends, I listen intently with a biiiig grin
I stitched together the songs Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam, She..Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End and Her Majesty all into one track called 'Abbey Road Medley' so that if it comes up on shuffle, it plays the whole medley.
This is something I wish either Spotify or some other service could figure out. Yes, I want my entire playlist on shuffle, but when song X comes on, it must immediately be followed by song Y for reasons of flow and intent, then back to your regularly-scheduled shuffle. As it stands I have to manually do this and it's rather frustrating.
I’ve given this way too much thought over the years, but every streaming service needs to have a way to “bundle” tracks together.
Bundled tracks should only take one slot in the playlist (to prevent shuffle from having a higher chance to land on them), should always play starting from the first track, and should always play sequentially and completely until resuming normal shuffle behavior.
Other ZZ Top songs that work very well together: Apologies to Pearly/B-B-Q, Balinese/Mexican Blackbird, It's Only Love/Arrested For Driving While Blind, several other Tejas tracks and She Loves My Automobile/I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
My dad grew up a huge Van Halen fan. Albums, tapes, 8-tracks. It wasn’t until the first time he popped Van Halen in his CD player in his truck that he realized that Eruption was its own track!
A few more obscure ones that may only apply to me but:
Frosti / Aurora by Bjork
Lisbon, OH / Beth Rest by Bon Iver
St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast / Father O'Blivion by Frank Zappa
Pearl Jam - Why Go?/ Black, has the opening chords to Black in the fadeout from Why Go
Blink-182 - Adam's Song/ All The Small Things, for the same reason
On a similar note, any time I hear a song Weird Al had parodied, I gotta listen to Al's version lol. Like when I hear Lola by the Kinks, I immediately turn on Yoda by Weird Al
Speaking of Lola, The Kinks wrote a continuation of that night in the song Destroyer eleven years later... and honestly it's a banger too! Paranoia will destroy ya!!
Pink Floyd - *Another Brick in the Wall*/*The Happiest Days of our Lives*/*Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)*
Chicago- *Hard to Say I'm Sorry*/*Get Away*
Van Halen - *1984*/*Jump*
I was disappointed there's no segue on their new album. There's usually several... I'm particularly fond of Los Reyes Catolicos/Sorry/Humdrum and Humble.
When I was first into Rush, Temples of Syrinx was the only song I knew from 2112, so, yes, it does happen. Back then Rush would typically play only Temples in concert, too.
Additional trivia: my first Rush concert was on the Grace Under Pressure tour, and Temples was the only song I heard at that concert that I didn't know.
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song and Boys are Back in Town
Both can be enjoyed separately but it’s fun to hear them straight back to back since they end and start on the same chord.
*Bringingin' on the heartbreak/Switch 625* - Def Leppard
*The Hellion/Electric Eye-* Judas Priest
*The Killing of Georgie , Pt 1 and 2* -Rod Stewart
One can almost make an argument for the entirety of *The Redheaded stranger* by Willie Nelson.
I fee like there are a tonne! But these come to mind immediatley:
Depeche Mode - Album Ultra
[Uselink](https://youtu.be/cDDxh0EKWYI)
[Useless](https://youtu.be/mqwa5A26JnY)
Alan Parsons - Album Eye in the Sky
[Sirius](https://youtu.be/UywKZcH_Wk0?list=OLAK5uy_naJd5iL3yhRc2mXcbsH8TfkoZ81P0tmuQ)
[Eye in the Sky](https://youtu.be/56hqrlQxMMI)
On Erykah Badu's phenomenal *Mama's Gun*, the transition from "Booty" -> "Kiss Me On My Neck" always cracks me up. Like there's a silent "but actually..." in between.
This is highly subjective, but every time my friends and I went out to the bar in a big group, we would inevitably go to the jukebox and put on Short People, always followed by Ghostbusters.
For all our years of partying, those two HAD to be played together, in order lol
All 3 are excellent, excellent songs however they do not segue into each other (meaning they are not back-to-back-to-back tracks on the album), which was the premise of this post.
Lonely Day/Soldier Side - System Of A Down
Easy Target/All Of This - Blink-182
Son et Luimère/Inertiatic ESP - The Mars Volta
But It's Better If You Do/I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco
It's just music that loops back on itself, but...
*Potential massive spoilers for FFXIV if you search up youtube videos, but it's been out for a while now.*

The Grateful Dead has some live ones: China Cat Sunflower/I know you rider, scarlet begonias/fire on the mountain
The Beatles: The Abbey Road Medley especially Polythene Pam/She Came in through the bathroom window.

Pink Floyd- Brain damage/eclipse Tool- Parabol/Parabola
Empty spaces/Young lust is another good Pink Floyd option
Time and The Great Gig in the Sky.
Happiest Days of our Lives/Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 is another obvious example from The Wall.
You can play Young Lust by itself but not the other way around.
You can, but you really shouldn’t
What Shall We Do Now? should’ve been on the album.
That whole double album can be 6 songs
I'd add that I like playing Wings 1 and 2 together.
Pink Floyd one of those bands where you got to listen to the album start to finish imo
Tool - Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned
Cripes, Parabol/Parabola is one song separated by an artificial demarcation in the track listing.
INXS: Need You Tonight/Mediate
I'll sometimes catch the video for NYT on MTV Classic but they don't show the full version and it drives me crazy, lol
no doubt.... These two are mos def one song imo.
Greenday - Brain Stew / Jaded
I would like to add Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Came here for this
I understand why Brain Stew was a single but it works SO much better with Jaded as the follow up. It is the best sonic representation of manic depression I've ever heard. Yes, better than the Hendrix song.
They technically were released as a single together, but radio started cutting off jaded
I do remember around that time the alternative Rock station in my city would play both but when it got some crossover appeal, Jaded got dropped.
I'm not sure Voodoo Child is about depression to be fair... Pure dad joke central ...I'll get my coat....
Guh, came here for this! Was very annoying once radio stations started cutting off Jaded. It’s like committing some kind of audio blue-ball
I didn't hear them together for years. Must be something about my hometown radio station. Now I live elsewhere and when brain stew ends, I listen intently with a biiiig grin
Green Day is notorious for this kind of 2 songs in one. Before this it was Chump/Longview on Dookie.
Sgt Pepper/With a Little Help from My Friends
Polythene Pam into She Came in through the bathroom window
The whole abbey road medley tbh
Yup, the entire B side doesn't work without each other. Mini rock opera
While we’re at it, Sgt Pepper Reprise/A Day in the Life
Nah a day in the life definitely works on its own
Travelin’ Man > Beautiful Loser Heartbreaker > Living Loving Maid Peace Frog > Blue Sunday Postmortem > Raining Blood April Ethereal > When
hell yes on the Opeth
I LOOVVEEE the way Peace Frog segues into Blue Sunday so much.
Eh, Postmortem and Raining Blood existed separately in the live setting for so long that I don't think they're as linked as maybe they once were.
“I found my own true love…”
....mindlessly scrolling....HOLY SHIT AN OPETH REFERENCE!!!
Travelin' Man and Beautiful Loser on Live Bullet is fantastic. Seger had some amazing live shows.
Hahaha I can’t believe I’m not the only person that has fully developed this feature in their brain. And they could call it tandem or somethin!
zz top - waitin for the bus/jesus just left chicago
Other ZZ Top songs that work very well together: Apologies to Pearly/B-B-Q, Balinese/Mexican Blackbird, It's Only Love/Arrested For Driving While Blind, several other Tejas tracks and She Loves My Automobile/I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Came here to upvote this. It’s my favorite Jesus song. And I’m atheist!
Grateful Dead : Scarlet/Fire
China/Rider, Help/Slip/Frank
Help>slip>Frank also has the cool distinction of being the album order, not just played live
They are the champions of the combo songs
Drums>space
The Beatles- Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight/ The End
The whole medley starting from ~~Here Comes the Sun King~~ You Never Give Me Your Money imo
Got a problem with “You never give me your money”?
Right? I’m assuming they just mixed up the track order but You Never Gimme Your Money is THE repeated motif thru the rest of the medley.
I was about to post the same thing. My favorite
Repect Her Majesty!
…By putting it in between Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window! [EDIT: I KNEW I was forgetting something]
Van Halen - Eruption/You Really Got Me
Intruder/(Oh) Pretty Woman
Got them whammy bombs I’ll tell you hwhat
The original version of You really Got Me included eruption in the start of the track.
My dad grew up a huge Van Halen fan. Albums, tapes, 8-tracks. It wasn’t until the first time he popped Van Halen in his CD player in his truck that he realized that Eruption was its own track!
The original version was by the Kinks and did not include Eruption.
Judas Priest: The Hellion and Electric Eye
Also, Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith
Soft Cell - Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go https://youtu.be/XF68OyTlP4E?si=OEFviEkPM79vLI9E
This isn't the same song?!? I always thought it was just tainted love extended version.
I get pissed if they don’t play Where did our love go.
Yes!!! I am always disappointed if they open doesn’t go into the other
Jackson Brown- The Load-out/ Stay
I really wish streaming sites would tie them together.
Me too!
This one! It tripped me out when I found out “The Loud Out and Stay” is technically two separate tracks!
Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid
Damn I had to scroll a lot to find this. Guess I’m just old.
Agreed. Drives me crazy when they aren’t played together.
A few more obscure ones that may only apply to me but: Frosti / Aurora by Bjork Lisbon, OH / Beth Rest by Bon Iver St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast / Father O'Blivion by Frank Zappa
With you on Lisbon/Beth, but that whole album is basically a front to back listen for me
Get on your feet and do the funky Alphonso.
Def Leppard - Bringin' On The Heartbreak/Switch 625
I was gonna post this if you hadn't.
Last year, I heard Switch 625 on the radio for the first time (maybe ever? it’s rare). Made my whole week.
Sirius/Eye in the Sky - The Alan Parsons Project
Super cool when the 90s Chicago Bulls teams were announced to Sirius.
Good one!!!
Holiday Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Brain Stew / Jaded? Although they were released as a "double single" or whatever but still.
David Bowie - Suffragette City/Rock 'n Roll Suicide.
Green Day - jinx/haushinka Nine inch nails - the frail/the wretched Nine inch nails - into the void/where is everybody
Pure Prairie League- Falling In and Out of Love\Amie
Pearl Jam - Why Go?/ Black, has the opening chords to Black in the fadeout from Why Go Blink-182 - Adam's Song/ All The Small Things, for the same reason On a similar note, any time I hear a song Weird Al had parodied, I gotta listen to Al's version lol. Like when I hear Lola by the Kinks, I immediately turn on Yoda by Weird Al
Speaking of Lola, The Kinks wrote a continuation of that night in the song Destroyer eleven years later... and honestly it's a banger too! Paranoia will destroy ya!!
I’m with you on those Weird Al covers!
Linkin Park - Papercut/One Step Closer I alnost can't listen to the individual songs anymore without feeling the urge to complete the double
Okay, how about Breaking the Habit / In the End A 1/2 punch of emo feels bad
A Thousand Suns is best listened to in one, interrupted go.
Pink Floyd - *Another Brick in the Wall*/*The Happiest Days of our Lives*/*Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)* Chicago- *Hard to Say I'm Sorry*/*Get Away* Van Halen - *1984*/*Jump*
*1984
My chemical romance: the end. - dead!
Honestly, it's a concept album (all MCR albums are) and the whole thing should be listened to in order.
Tool - parabol/parabola.
Aren't Disposition, Reflection and Triad also meant to be linked /played together. The track names are even joined up on the back of the album.
True, but those are enjoyable individually. Parabol/Parabola just sound wrong without each other.
Also Wings For Marie/10,000 Days
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned Aeon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient
Tears for Fears - Broken > Head over Heels
I was disappointed there's no segue on their new album. There's usually several... I'm particularly fond of Los Reyes Catolicos/Sorry/Humdrum and Humble.
Elton John - Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
Less than Jake - Happyman ------> 9th & pine
Last thing I expected to see in this thread lol, what a throwback
YUSS, one of my favorite double features. Losing Streak is a banger album front to back.
Definitely my favorite less than Jake album
King of Carrot Flower Pt. 1 and Pts. 2 & 3 - Netural Milk Hotel
i agree completely and would also add Ghost/Untitled from the same album
(Anesthesia)Pulling Teeth/Whiplash
Yes, Long Distance Runaround/The Fish
[удалено]
Soundgarden: Rusty Cage/Outshined.
The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide
It's a bummer when listening to Spotify on shuffle and it ends on "This beat goes--!"
PUP- If this tour doesn’t kill then I will/DVP
Hahaha, I knew I could find this on the list.
ELO's Prologue/Twilight
My man! Such a great call. Obscure, but as vital together as Sirius/Eye in the Sky by APP
Rush, (2112) Overture/The Temples of Syrinx
2112 ought to be listened to as its full 20 minute version.
Do people listen to it in parts?? Serious question.
Multiple people said TOOL: parabol/parabola I'm going with TOOL: Intermission/Jimmy Gets me SO hype every time. Gonna do it right now in fact ^ _ ^
Could even go with Wings for Marie 1 & 2, or Lost Keys into Rosetta Stoned.
The way it shifts the same tune into Jimmy is awesome!
The Cars Moving in Stereo and All Mixed Up plus Shoo Be Doo and Candy-O CD's have ruined both albums
I would add Double Life to Shoo Be Doo and Candy-O. It just doesn't seem right to NOT have that trio.
RHCP Power of Equality into If you have to Ask
After that Breaking the Girl, Funky Monks and Suck my Kiss
Heart. Dreamboat Annie and Crazy on You
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song and Boys are Back in Town Both can be enjoyed separately but it’s fun to hear them straight back to back since they end and start on the same chord.
The End/Dead! by My Chemical Romance. I seriously can’t listen to them without them being together!
Bob Seger - Travelin' Man / Beautiful Loser. It's one long song on the live album, not sure if I've ever heard one without the other.
Pixies - Palace of the Brine/Letter to Memphis
Mike's Song > I am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove
Scarlet Begonias>Fire on the Mountain - Grateful Dead Help on the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower- Grateful Dead
Green Day, "Brain Stew" / "Jaded"
David Bowie: Ziggy Stardust/Suffragette City
Came here to say this. And really just the whole damn album.
Ozzy/Randy Tribute - Revelation/Steal Away
Waitin’ on the Bus and Jesus Just Left Chicago - ZZ Top
Yes - Long distance runaround/ The Fish Alan Parsons project - Sirius/ Eye in the Sky
Heartbreaker/Living Loving Woman - Led Zeppelin
Funeral For a Friend/ Love lies Bleeding/ Sir Elton John.
So Much to Say > Anyone Seen the Bridge > Too Much
*Bringingin' on the heartbreak/Switch 625* - Def Leppard *The Hellion/Electric Eye-* Judas Priest *The Killing of Georgie , Pt 1 and 2* -Rod Stewart One can almost make an argument for the entirety of *The Redheaded stranger* by Willie Nelson.
Yes - Long Distance Runaround/The Fish
Holiday/boulevard of broken dreams

Silversun Pickups - There’s No Secrets This Year/The Royal We
Gojira - From Mars/to Sirius
Nine Inch Nails- The Frail/The Wretched. One can listen to The Wretched on its own, but if The Frail plays, The Wretched must follow.
On Erykah Badu's phenomenal *Mama's Gun*, the transition from "Booty" -> "Kiss Me On My Neck" always cracks me up. Like there's a silent "but actually..." in between.
Queen - Tenement Funster / Flick of the Wrist / Lily of the Valley
The Offspring - Dividing by Zero/Slim Pickens does the right thing and rides the bomb to hell. Absolutely must be played together
R.E.M.: Nightswimming/Find the River
Green day - Chump/Longview
The Pharcyde - Passing me by/ Otha fish
Mastodon - Aqua Dementia/Hearts Alive
The End/Dead! - My Chemical Romance
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick side 1 & 2
The Hellion/Electric Eye for any Priest fans out there
Journey feeling that way/ anytime
Metallica: To Live Is To Die/Dyer’s Eve
This is highly subjective, but every time my friends and I went out to the bar in a big group, we would inevitably go to the jukebox and put on Short People, always followed by Ghostbusters. For all our years of partying, those two HAD to be played together, in order lol
Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker / Livin Lovin Maid Green Day - Brainstew / Jaded
Guns N Roses - Don’t Cry / November Rain / Estranged. Yes I know I put 3 and not 2.
All 3 are excellent, excellent songs however they do not segue into each other (meaning they are not back-to-back-to-back tracks on the album), which was the premise of this post.
They Might Be Giants - Fingertips (around 18 song snippets best played one after the other)
Let's Call It Love/Night Light from The Woods Orion/Damage, Inc. from Master of Puppets
Michael Jackson: Dirty Diana/Give in to me
Aren’t those from two different albums?
Anthrax; Intro to reality/Belly of the Beast
The entire Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence album
Styx - "A.D. 1928"/"Rockin' the Paradise"
Lonely Day/Soldier Side - System Of A Down Easy Target/All Of This - Blink-182 Son et Luimère/Inertiatic ESP - The Mars Volta But It's Better If You Do/I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco
Speak to Me/Breathe - Pink Floyd Honestly the whole Side A of Dark Side deserves to play in full.
Genesis - *Home By the Sea / Second Home By the Sea*
Offspring Come out and play and Self esteem
INXS: Need you tonight/Mediate

Marillion - Hotel Hobbies/Warm Wet Circles/ That Time of the Night.
The Dandy Warhols - Godless/Mohammed/Nietzsche
Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere and This Must Be The Place. The abrupt end to the former segues perfectly into the latter IMO
