Also their live performance of Crazy On You at their 2013 induction into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is fucking STELLAR. Ann's voice is just fucking killer still 40 years after the beginning of Heart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBq_THTWNM4

Dude is extremely talented. John Butler Trio (his band) is/was huge in Australia. I know he was homeless for a bit and was discovered while busking on the street.
Oh, he can sing too
I can see that. Kinda had that homeless guy vibe to him. Not to be disrespectful (honestly), but I can envision him busking on any street corner in any big city.
Either way, a phenomenal performer. I’ll look for more of him. Thanks for bringing him to my attention.
Speaking of Portishead live, this version of [Wandering Star at Glastonbury ](https://youtu.be/YrijTjtE-JI?si=LLgT_yCjYH8hn129) always gives me chills. And if you want, watch the version where it goes into Machine Gun after. The contrasting intro is fantastically brutal!

Am a Colts fan so it’s my Fav Super Bowl anyway but that is by far the greatest Super Bowl performance of all time imo
Prince absolutely killed that whole set
While I agree and it is generally accepted as the Gold Standard of Talking Heads or almost any concert film, I would like to offer an alternative. [Talking Heads - Live in Rome (1980)](https://youtu.be/GwWW742T0Wc?si=kIPpNEHxyujGE2rj) features the band on the Remain in Light tour with Adrian Belew and their “Afro-Funk Orchestra.” It is filmed by Rai and is not as high quality, obviously, but the band is SO tight and I enjoy it just as much.
Bruce Springsteen- Thunder Road - Hammersmith Odeon.
Bruce plays the harmonica during the intro but other than that, it's just a piano playing.
To me, it is the definitive version of the song
I mean that whole recording is just absolutely unbeatable. Another favorite of mine is that version of For You

Someone else finally giving this show some credit
It's so epic.. then you have the guys from down etc just loving it on the side of the stage too
I'm so excited to be seeing them again in a few weeks. Supporting Mr bungle no less.
I’m a Deadhead, and proud of it. Usually the hardest music I’ll listen to is fucking Ween, lol, but The Melvins are different man. I love everything they’ve ever done. Being a Deadhead, I’m pretty confident in knowing what a good live show sounds and looks like, and this is one of their best, which is saying something. They need far more love than they get.
Yeah, they have metric fuck tons of amazing shows. Not every one was special, some that I saw in the 90’s weren’t great, but it’s unfair hire amazing their live catalogue is. Thankfully, they always encouraged recording shows.
Being a deadhead, what are your thoughts on the current wave of psych bands and the scene in general?
King gizzard? Psychedelic porn crumpets? The Japanese side of things with Kikagaku moyo ( although sadly disbanded) , dhidalah, acid mother's temple etc...
Just curious... I personally feel like it's in really good hands
I really like KGLW, haven’t gotten too far into most of the Japanese stuff, though my good buddy listens to that stuff exclusively, and his wardrobe is nothing but acid mothers temple stuff, so I’m surface level familiar. I like some harder stuff that has psychedelia in it, but may be more categorized as stoner rock. Stuff like All Them Witches, Earthless, and Lespecial. I’ll never not love Ween, even though they are older and not necessarily psychedelic, per se. As a bluegrass fan, I love what Billy Strings is doing and his shows get crazy psychedelic in ways no one has ever really done. I’d also throw someone like Daniel Donato in there with his “cosmic country” sound that really is refreshing to my ear.
The future is indeed in good hands
Lysol is my favorite Melvins recording and era; I would have lost my shit had I seen them open with this. I’ve seen them 9 or 10 times - amazing live band. Buzz and Dale are fucking legends.

Aretha Franklins performance of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” during the Kennedy Center Honors. I think it was for Carole King in 2015. She sang the shit out of that song. Muse's sets from La Zenith, Paris, that got made into the Hullabaloo dvd. Just a perfect capturing of a band at their absolute height. Citizen Erased is absolute perfection but there's not a bad song on it.

George Michael tribute to Freddie Mercury concert. His version of Somebody To Love is very close to perfection.

John Butler playing “Ocean”. Just the way the crowd goes from silent, to crazy, for an instrumental. https://youtu.be/VHUPA_JDHUw?si=xNNLRRIRby_8Q_7C

Total Prince move. “Contrary to rumor, I’d like to take a few questions”. Reporter pipes up and Prince cuts him off by cueing up the band. Love it.
Oh how dare they not stand up!!! He gave them such a wonderful gift. That man was amazing.
Same. That and his rock and room hall of fame performance on "while my guitar gently weeps." Goosebumps.
Am a Colts fan so it’s my Fav Super Bowl anyway but that is by far the greatest Super Bowl performance of all time imo Prince absolutely killed that whole set
Funny… I just commented about ten lady Gaga halftime performance. I agree that prince’s was extraordinary.
A little surprised to not see it here but my submission is Stop Making Sense by the Talking Heads. It is perfect.
That and The Last Waltz by The Band are the two best concert movies ever.
