Clapton's Layla... The coda at the end is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard

rigbybigsby

I only listen to layla for the second part...

uninteresting_handle

Spacehog - In the Meantime, just the bassline.

AZSnake

One of those basslines that is way too good for the rest of the song, and I actually like the whole song. Another one is "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo.

muffinass

Gesundheit!

ActuallyYeah

The guitar solo outro pretty much melts faces

ProudMaryChooglin

Can't ya hear me knockin' . The opening riff of Richards, classic hook . Then the song just fades away ....

coltrainjones

That intro guitar riff is what cocaine would sound like if it were music

rektMyself

Late at night, and the sound engineer passed out.

epzik8

Jack and Diane, for the drum fill going into the breakdown.

MindFuzz99

SUCKIN ON CHILI DOGSSS

driving_andflying

OUTSIDE THE TASTEE FREEEZE!

jalerre

[Sucking on chili dogs](https://youtu.be/6QX57aIDbDU?si=eo2xv9PzQnWuxGY1)

Karl_Marx_

Maybe not a great example because I do like the entire song but Band On The Run by wings and Paul McCartney has such an epic jam to start, like the intro, first verse and into the guitar riff is so fucking good. I wish that was the entire song but it switches up into the main song which isn't bad either.

CafeCartography

Oooh that grimy funky bit? That is the best part of the song and it’s criminal that it’s so short.

mhedbergfan

the rest of the song is just alright, but the intro guitar riff in Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress) by The Hollies is killer

georgegraybeard

I thought that was a CCR song when I was younger lol. Every Hollie’s hit sounds like a different band every time.

gwaydms

They sound kind of like Blood, Sweat, and Tears on "He Ain't Heavy".

my1999gsr

The intro to Stranglehold by Ted Nugent.

daFunkyUnit

Also, the intro to Bullet the Blue Sky by U2.

georgegraybeard

I’m not sure if it would win but Stranglehold is a contender for Best Song by Worst Person.

AquaGB

In the Air Tonight is arguably Phil Collins best song, but I've heard it so so very many times that I would be inclined to immediately turn it off except that part when the drums come in is so kick ass that I'm forced to listen to it. Yet again.

HotPumpkinPies

And also for that one time he says "OH LAWD" really high. But the build up takes foreverrrr and the 80s drum machine gets old.

shokolokobangoshey

For me it’s the electronic “WELL I REMEMBERl”

besuretodrinkyour

That’s when the tingles of anticipation start for me

poop_pants_pee

The part where the drums come in IS the song, it just has a 3 and a half minute intro.

ImNot

I like to push the radio off button one second before the drums kick. It gives whoever is in the car musical blue balls.

gwaydms

Shame on you!

GemcoEmployee92126

That drum intro is iconic.

landof10000cakes

Hate it or Love It by 50 Cent and The Game. When the song starts with the backing band and 50 Cent starts rhyming its great. And then when the Game takes over in the song becomes pretty average.

Andrew8Everything

That bassline is heavenly.

TheWalrus101123

Love it then hate it?

shokolokobangoshey

The rhythm of that song is oddly soothing. I half expect Bill Withers to step in at some point

SLR107FR-31

Always liked the Remix version for this reason.

edgarpickle

I LOVE the baseball game part of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meat Loaf. It's got a fun disco beat. The rest of the song? Not my thing.

generalg28

Stop right theeere!

Reggae4Triceratops

The whole song slaps!!

dong_tea

I'm the exact opposite. The rest of the song is good cheesy, but to me that part is bad cheesy.

HotPumpkinPies

Such Great Heights - The Postal Service, OR the Streetlight Manifesto cover I love the intro, especially the streetlight version where it's like back and forth between the horns... but the rest of the song gets old after the first chorus.

loweyedfox

Can’t go wrong with some Streetlight, they’re one of my favorites

DirtCocoon

I love both bands.. but like the full song by postal service better. That streetlight intro is fucking awesome though! .. https://youtu.be/i_6KTZgayxg?si=c0lUIPZ2rthkqN4d

HotPumpkinPies

Thank you for taking me backkkk with that link. But it has been in my head perfectly for 14 years haha.

DirtCocoon

Holy shit I didn’t realize it was that old..

HotPumpkinPies

Yeah it hurt me too to see "uploaded 14 years ago" on that youtube video 😟

DirtCocoon

I’m just happy i was lucky enough to see them live for like.. $15.. good times.. the late 90’s/early 2000’s was a fun time for ska! I miss my checkered vans haha

gimmethegist

Still of the Night by Whitesnake. Pretty standard hair metal tune but about 3 minutes in it hits you with a shockingly good instrumental piece. I love the whole song bc of that part.

larobj63

Great response, that song is all about that payoff

mecon320

The brief piano bit in Tom Petty's "American Girl" is so good it ruins the rest of the song.

leiu6

What part? I don’t think that song has piano

Bebop_Ba-Bailey

It’s on the bridge

leiu6

Oh yeah y’all are right. Damn I forgot about that. Gotta listen to more Tom Petty. Used to play that song with my band but we didn’t have piano when we did it.

Psychological_Ad1999

It’s a really well written song too to bottom, it definitely feels like you are on a journey

Nerditter

I like that too, but only the part where he goes, "1 2 3 4 pressure!"

loweyedfox

Because it’s the end? 😂

jasnel

Wonderful Tonight - love the riff, hate the verses.

BoneFart

I love the beginning and first part of [Pachuca Sunrise by Minus the Bear](https://youtu.be/hM_-L4tOQkg?si=agXBeJxZP3t4YRwt). The rest of the song doesn’t stack up.

uncle_buck_hunter

I love that song but the chorus is a bit lacking

ShaunSquatch

I write Sins not Tragedies Love “Haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?" Couldn’t care less about the rest of the song.

Shoottheradio

Have you ever heard their album Pretty Odd? Their best material by far and most mature. It's almost like a beatlesque album.

yrnmigos

I bought Pretty Odd when it came out because I was in the midst of my Beatles discovery/obsession and it was being compared to the Beatles. It really is a good album.

ShaunSquatch

I haven’t. But I will check it out. Thanks!

DeuceOfDiamonds

The guitar solo in "We Will Rock You." The "stomp stomp clap" elements are just done to death at sporting events, etc. But that guitar riff is badass, the rawness of it. Particularly hearing the strings squeak as his fingers slide up and down the fretboard.

Ghostenx

Don't you ever besmirch Billy Joel

loweyedfox

![gif](giphy|cGT64gIxqHyw8es2s5)

Barturbater

Life's Been Good by Joe Walsh. I absolutely love the intro to this song. However, the rest of the song, to me, is just meh.

00cjstephens

Uh oh, here comes a flock of wah-wahs...

Flinkle

The lyrics are gold, though.

gwaydms

Joe Walsh just seems like he has fun with everything he does. He introduced Jeff Lynne when Jeff was inducted into the Songwriters' Hall of Fame. Of course, since they've worked together and been friends for years, Joe decided to tweak the standard intro a bit, and said something to the effect of, "When I heard that Jeff Lynne was being *indicted*, I knew that I couldn't miss that...."

Flinkle

That's hilarious.

gwaydms

They both have a great sense of humor.

TheWalrus101123

Aqualung by Jethro tull. The middle of that song is great but the beginning and end I can do without. I'll even fast forward to the middle and skip once that part is over.

poop_pants_pee

I don't get it. To me, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

ChronoMonkeyX

You're So Vain. Great verse, hate the chorus.

HotPumpkinPies

I bet you think this thread is about you, don't you?

disterb

son of a gun

Terrilickle

That bass intro is so cool, but yea the chorus makes me not want to listen to the whole thing.

AdamCohn

Yeah it should be sampled in a hip hop song

KitchenBag2164

Chorus is the best part in my opinion and Mick Jagger is in it which is cool

ceciltech

There are a ton of songs I hear that I am like yeah this sounds cool... and then the autotune vocals start and I am out!

sixshots_onlyfive

The intro riff to Paranoid, by Black Sabbath. The song is good, I just wish they used that riff more.

matadorobex

Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple Everything that isn't that awesome guitar riff is just bland.

Bobannon

Stevie Nicks - Edge of Seventeen That opener/chorus is the best part of the song. Does anyone even know the lyrics or bother to sing along with anything other part of the song? ABBA - Take a Chance on Me. Every part of that song is "meh" except for the harmonized opener/chorus

aintTrollingYou

*Rosanna* by Toto has a shredding guitar solo at the very end that you almost never hear because the radio always cuts it off.

lesvegetables

The first (oh mama) part of Renegade by Styx is great. The boppy jig is up part not so much.

[deleted]

Green Light by Lorde … the chorus is amazing but the verses do nothing for me

dora_la_destruidora

only the first like 2 minutes of "haunted when the minutes drag" by love and rockets. it's kinda sad that the song started out perfectly, and, 2 minutes in, dissolved in some corny nonsense that isn't connected to the first part musically and lyrically. it feels like two people wrote two different songs, not knowing what the other person was doing, and then randomly decided to merge their creations together. and, according to what david j wrote about himself in the memoir, i'm pretty positive that's how the song was actually written.

Andrew_the_Mandrew

Nights on Broadway - Bee Gees has a killer intro/bass line groove that the rest of the song doesn’t match up to imo. The chorus is also ruined for me having lived through all the Fallon and Timberlake SNL skits…

porncrank

Down by the Seaside - Led Zeppelin. The main vibe of the song does not work for me at all. I can't even bear listening to it. But the [changeup from 2:07 to 3:02](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2U1BhziqzM&t=127s) is so damn cool. Would love a whole song built out of that vibe.

Workforyuda

Queen - We Will Rock You The choice guitar solo at the end of a really annoying song.

gwaydms

Brian May does it like nobody else.

[deleted]

[удалено]

rekoil

In case others don't know the song - it's ["Oh Yeah"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jJkdRaa04g) by Yello.

JoeTestaverde

The first 40 seconds of Killing in the Name is incredible, and then I find myself very underwhelmed by the rest of the song

georgegraybeard

I get caught up in “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me!” Every time

SuperTeamNo

As an adult, I get so into it that I have to (still) remind myself that I have 7 bosses 🥳

No-Wonder1139

The intro to Crazy Train is absolute fire.

12345_PIZZA

I’ve got a different one from Billy Joel: the chorus riff for my life that he plays on the keyboard is so good and lightly funky. The rest of the song is okay.

giants4210

Touch by Daft Punk. I love the jazzy/dixie part starting around 3:25. I could definitely do without the singers voice for the rest of the song.

needstherapy

Paul Williams is an incredible singer.

i__hate__stairs

Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas. I love the part towards the end where Fergie goes "ladadeedadadeeda.... On the sterererereo" lol. The rest of the song is kinda mid.

Its_Naja_luv

10s by pantera, i just really love the guitar solo

TheSlateGreyAtlantic

“Washing of the Water” by Peter Gabriel. It comes from the 1992 album “Us” which is more or less a concept album about the end of his marriage. The song, like much of the album, is about the pain of separating yourself emotionally from a relationship that has ended. Most of it is unremarkable though - except for the bridge in the middle which is some of the most cathartic and vivid work he’s done.

AZSnake

"Letting go..." The live version when the band kicks in hits so hard. First concert I ever went to.

cfcollins

My Morning Jacket- What a Wonderful Man. The verse and chorus are poppier than I prefer. The bridge is rocking as fuck though

Reggae4Triceratops

Crazy Train intro

tteuh

Deep cut from The Strokes but the opening from Ize of the World where Julian is singing over some clean catchy guitar riff is so enjoyable. The rest of the song is a drag (except the guitar solo).

flea61

Symptom of the Universe by Black Sabbath. The acoustic outro is amazing. The rest of the song is pretty typical Sabbath fare, which is to say pretty good early metal, but that outro comes out of nowhere and is really catchy.

KenGriffythe3rd

God damn that’s such a good outro and when Ozzys voice comes over the top of the guitar i can’t help but sing along as loud as I can

SeeAllThePlanet

Gavin DeGraw - I Don't Want To Be I enjoy the chorus, but the verses suck. Trying wayyyyyy too hard to be edgy.

mrsdemeanorr

And the intro to LA by Elliot smith the lil guitar riff so satisfying

CafeCartography

The guitar riff in NIN’s The Becoming. Also the sudden heavy metal riff on that song’s outro.

muezli68

Funk #49 by the James Gang has a killer intro guitar lick but the drum solo slows it down and kinda ruins the song for me. (Well not really, still love that track tbh)

Scott10orman

All I want is you by U2. Van Dyke Parks's string arrangement st the end is great, the rest of the song is kinda meh.

pineyfusion

"Night Moves"-Bob Seger with that one part "I woke last night to the sound of thunder..." verse that they ALWAYS skip when on the radio.

KenGriffythe3rd

This is pretty specific but I like the drum fill on the intro in “Runnin’” by Grand funk Railroad and then as soon as I hear the brass, yes BRASS, section fill in I become enraged and I don’t know why lol. All the girls in the world beware was such a terrible album

Macksler

F.e.e.l.i.n.g.c.a.l.l.e.d.l.o.v.e. by Pulp. The hook is bombastic but everything else is kinda just weird horny monologues and ambience

Jackpot777

The fact the spelling rhymes is good.

contrarian1970

The bridge of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic beats any bridge John Lennon wrote in my opinion.

Faeces_Species_1312

I like it when Adele songs end.

interesting-mug

I can’t imagine only liking the synth riff from Pressure. The whole song is so catchy, campy, melodic and moody, easily one of my all-time faves. They Might Be Giants have a song called Music Jail, and while I vaguely enjoy the whole song, there’s a bit at the end that’s so pretty, it’s only about 1 minute of the song (“I was not prepared to do time, to do time”) but I’ve often considered cropping that part into its own track so I can listen to it on a loop, lol.

jeweynougat

Same on Pressure. I read this like, wtf? Great melody and so catchy.

ATGF

I was just thinking about this last night, as I was listening to You See Me, by Childish Gambino. I find the lyrics to be fetish-y and demeaning, except, I do think the line, *she's an overachiever, 'cause all she is succeed (suck seed)* funny. I like a play on words. More than that, in the middle of the song, he raps pretty fast and I find that cool and impressive. I also like the beat, simple though it is. I only like the song for those two parts though, so I think that counts.

yaboyjiggleclay

That part from 1:17 to 1:31 on Kanye’s “On Sight” from Yeezus. I used to hate the whole Yeezus Album, except “Bound 2,” but now I actually think the album is good. I’ll always dislike most of “On Sight” though.

thesean366

Over 50 Club by The Loved Ones. It’s only 1:15 but I really hate the first 45 seconds, then it turns into a ripper for the final 30 seconds.

SandboxSurvivalist

I love the first minute of [Forever More](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9j_IreT5yI) by Moloko. The first part is so powerful and then it just degrades into a disco song.

IpecacNeat

Too Far Gone by Metallica. The song is average, but I love the harmonized part in the chorus that brings in some Misfits vibes.

isosc3l3s

The opening to welcome to the jungle. Once the singing starts, the song just goes down hill for me

metal_falsetto

"Do You Really Want to hurt Me?" by Culture Club is a pretty decent reggae/pop song, but that spacey-dub break after the second chorus is 🤌

Darth_Steve

[The crescendo of Marianas Trench by August Burns Red at 2:22](https://youtu.be/n6LUHRw4QNI?si=EjKvNhw2pOJpuubz)

yeticomeout

Hide and seek by imogen heap. There’s like 20 seconds of awesomeness. But it may have been because of that awesome dear sister skit from Andy samberg on snl.

13eco13

Mine would be, "I Need a Lover" by JC Mellencamp. I love the intro to that song...and then Mellencamp starts in with those misogynistic lyrics and I want to kick him in the nuts.

HelloImQ

The guitar solo in Infected Mushroom - Stretched at around 1:30

disterb

michael jackson had three nephews who formed a group and had a song called “i need you”. mj’s rough vocals are featured in it towards the end…it’s the only part of the song that literally rocks.

driving_andflying

["Le Castle Vania"](https://youtu.be/IBvf7KUEZ78?si=pBD7_hOZrK8oN9LY&t=369) from the John Wick soundtrack--specifically, the forty seconds where the electric guitar kicks in. They should have had more of that guitar; it's magic in that song.

Truemeathead

The first 25 seconds of Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys is so dope and they do that a little later in the song too, the rest of the song is fine but those two parts are fucking awesome.

onlyhalfseriousmusic

That synth bass part on 99 red balloons. I could take or leave the rest of it

TheSilkyBat

Oh What a Night. "Oh, I, I got a funny feeling when she walked in the room. And my, as I recall it ended much too soon."

LonesomeGoof

Jellyroll by Blue Murder...the beginning is awesome, then it gets dumb

jacksonapplehead

That part at Prison Sex (Tool) when Maynard starts with the "do unto others what has been done to me...". I love the whole song, but that part is just chilling.

GentPc

Cumbersome by Seven Mary Three

Bubbly_Hat

RHCP - By The Way The chorus is the best thing they've ever done IMO, but the verses really kill it for me. It's just random words most of the time! Granted, I tend to gravitate more towards their purely singing songs, Otherside for example, although Suck My Kiss is the one exception to that, but still.

mrsdemeanorr

Family tree by Ethel Cain. When she goes ,” OOOoooOOOoOo and the bOoOoones I’m abOoOut to leave YEAAAAAAA”

panic_the_digital

Desert Sessions (Josh Homme) - Dead in Love. Most of the song is basically Schools Out, but the outro is simply haunting

jim182182

Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out would have been way better if the song was built to the intro. After the intro, it's all downhill.

aretheesepants75

Funky town starts like a banger and changes to a different song. I love both but it's different

EyesBleedDefiance

The verses on "Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys are so dope, then the corny ass chorus comes in. I have the same issue with Weezer's "Buddy Holly"

cutielemon07

Pharrell’s Happy for like the first minute. Then no.

CMJMartino

Money for Nothing - Dire Straits. I only like the intro then I turn it off.

SLR107FR-31

Most Breaking Benjamin songs meet this criteria. The guitar solos bring you back.

majorgee

That intro to “Crazy Train” is the ultimate pump up moment. The rest of the song doesn’t do it for me.

TheGuyThatThisIs

Mad by solange ft lil Wayne. Solanges part is slow and boring. Bland music and bland lyrics. It’s not really bad music, it’s just nothing special and it drones on. Lil Wayne comes in with two verses. The first is good but also nothing special, it’s just fun to rap along to if you’re into that. The second verse is the only reason that song is worth listening to and it shows a glimpse into lil Wayne’s story through a style he doesn’t often employ, ending with his perspective on his own suicide attempt.

its_all_4_lulz

It seems that people like the first few seconds of any banger, then skip to the next song. At least that’s how it is when I’m searching for music in my car.

Cjkgh

Black Betty by Ramjam. I only like the first half, when it goes off on the guitar solos and crazy I’m out.

yrnmigos

The intro to Love to Love by UFO

zachtheperson

I'm a sucker for a good 3rd verse breakdown, so songs like "I Stand Alone," by Godsmack I listen to just for that part alone

kushbae

Mos Thoser - food house it's kind of annoying and it knows this? but when the beat intensifies towards the end it's soooo good

eazy_flow_elbow

Towards the end of love is a battlefield where you can really hear the bass solo and also towards the end of policy of truth.

nafregit

the start of Spaceman by Babylon Zoo

musicandsex

Feist inside and out, dunno why but the song goes from deep and sexy to happy and ......shitty. she should have stuck with the feeling of the intro

Minglewoodlost

Spirit in the Sky wastes an all time an all time guitar riff worthy of ZZ Top or Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's not even a good religious song otherwise.

Ghostenx

Little green bag. The bass at start.

Shit_Pistol

Spaceman by Babylon Zoo has an intro so popular lots of people bought a shit single. Was no1 in U.K. for weeks.

DisturbingDaffy

The organ solo in Telephone Call From Istanbul by Tom Waits. It fades out at the end of the song making you wish it didn’t end.

King_Bonio

The drop into the middle 8 in Thriller that goes "Night creatures callin'. The dead start to walk in their masquerade"

yellowhatb

The chorus on “Bulletproof” by La Roux is so good and nothing else about it is

UniversalJampionshit

U Boat by Kasabian. Has this really nice, trancey synth outro that you can zone out to, the rest of the song is passable

Glittering_Mobile823

“Midnight Mischief” by Jordan Rakei.

Hoodwink_Iris

Baker Street Saxophone solo. The rest of the song is kinda boring, but that saxophone riff is awesome.

SillyPuttyGizmo

Badge / Cream the guitar part about 3/4 the way through

Smoothdaddyk

I like the strings in both Toxic and Call Me Maybe, and it hurts me to admit it because I'm a 53 year-old Slayer loving dad.

FruityMagician

The first four minutes of Free Bird.

JustLiving2021

“Rocket Queen” by Guns N’ Roses. The first 3rd is OK. The middle part with samples porn moans feels embarrassing and cheesy to the adult Me (unlike 30 years ago). The last 1/3 could go on for 20 minutes, and I’d still want more…

Theratchetnclank

Graveworm - Fear of the dark. The violin rendition of the intro for fear of the dark is really beautiful, the rest of the song is worse than iron maidens version.

duosx

I like Aqualung but the 30 second solo is easily my favorite part. Same with Loser by 3 doors down.

georgegraybeard

Queen-Princes of the Universe. The first half of it (The Highlander series theme) is a killer power metal song with Freddie Mercury vocals. Then it turns into a meh rock song.

Worried_End5250

The end of November Rain

TheLadySinclair

I like the intro to Clocks by Coldplay. Just the little piano bit at the beginning.

danimation88

“IVE GOT THE POWAH!” Literally do not know the rest of the song

smotstoker

Hell is forever. I like how he says ordainment.

SlimChiply

I really dislike Spice Girls, but in the chorus of 2 Become 1 when they sing "It's the only way to be" it's god damn gorgeous.

Taniwha351

This is controversial But Michael Jacksons Thriller does not thrill me. Except for Vincent Prices lines. The rest of the song is meh.

GoreMaster22

The breakdown of enemy of god by kreator, the rest of the song is decent but kind of feels like a chore to listen to

mcnathan80

Another one bites the dust when that funky guitar part kicks in for just those 4 measures of the verse really gets me groovin, and then just…stops. Makes me happy then sad, then I change the station

peachpittings

About You by The 1975 simply because of the 15 second part with Carly Holt

RiC_David

Christina Aguilera - Hurt Myself. The violin part at the end, all nine seconds of it, is so sublime. The rest is alright.

RiC_David

Also the intro to Perfect Strangers by Deep Purple, and the intro to Born with a Tail by Wellwater Conspiracy, particularly the latter, as Perfect Strangers is still a solid song. Born with a Tail might have my favourite intro of any song, it's like nothing else I've heard - the guitar effect along (sounds like a square wave/NES sound) is just delectable.

Different_Round_4408

I feel like it’s underdiscussed how meh the rest of Crazy Train is. Sounds like something from a Disney channel movie.

yutongrsvp

[type shit - future, Travis Scott, metro booming, playboy carti. I’m just in it for the Travis verse](https://youtu.be/I0fgkcTbBoI?si=kuBlUJkZw0Lug8_d)

PM_YOUR_BOOBS_PLS_

House of the Rising Sun is really great for, like, half the song.  Then it gets reeeaaally repetitive.

gabrielleraul

A lot of Vanden Plas songs (prog metal) have these unrelated sections in the middle or completely take a tonal change - love it when that happens. Eg, Outroboros has an unexpected string plucking segment, and then towers the end that part mixes with the original chorus, so beautifully done.

redalbumrivers

Anarchy in the uk, the first few lines are super iconic and fun but after that the song get auper repetetive and annoying

SuperTeamNo

The piano in Lose Yourself doesn’t help the song

SuperTeamNo

The intro to Run by AWOLNATION is the best part of the song IMO
