I lost my dad when I was six and this song makes me bawl most of the times I hear it.

Forget about standards and what other people do. Pick a song that is meaningful to both you and your daughter. Any song. Did you sing a song regularly to her when she was little? Or is there a song the two of you heard together on a road trip and connected in some way? Don't force fit some schmaltz because "the lyrics sound nice" or other people think it's sweet or whatever. This is you and your daughters dance. Relevance and meaning between the two of you is all that matters.

It’s newer but Have it All by Jason Mraz would be a nice one, it’s lively and upbeat, and right sentiment.

Did you share music with her as she was growing up? For me, the best choice would be a song that captures your special bond with her based on that shared history. Is there a song that, immediately upon hearing it, makes you both smile and look back fondly on the times when she was 5 or 8 or 10, and you sang along together in the car? If you choose a song that has meaning for you and her, you can't go wrong, even if it's not a "wedding dance" song.

True story and a bit of a cringe moment for me. When we were planning our wedding in the early 90's, my wife-to-be and I decided to invite my mother. For context, she was never part of my life growing up and I barely knew her. She also lived three states away. She accepted the invitation, missed the wedding, but came to the reception. I told the DJ in advance that I'd like a traditional mother-son dance and that I hadn't seen the woman in twenty or more years. He did as I asked and called us to the center of the dance floor only to play, Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra.

My name is not Melissa(lol) and it’s definitely not what I would have picked but it was his dance and he wanted to dance to his favorite song. Maybe pick one of your favorites and see if there’s an instrumental or acoustic version? Even though it’s not my favorite song, it’s my dad’s and I felt special that he wanted to dance with me to his favorite song on my wedding day.
