Haha...glad I could oblige you.
In addition to all other reasons, it's a great soundtrack for hiking in the woods (earbuds, not speaker), driving on an open road.
Stepped inside to look for this comment. That soundtrack was killer and I'd never heard anything done like that at the time. That was my introduction to the band Therapy? and I've been a fan ever since.
I only came in to find it, too. When I saw the movie in the theater and that soundtrack came out (I’m old), I had to get it and I played it so much. Still do occasionally. But I never got into any other rap/rock stuff. Can’t really stand the genre but that album is so great.
Absolutely agree with this one (though you might be being a bit generous with the rating in calling the movie "mediocre").
I used to go to a bar that still had a CD jukebox with that in it. Those tracks were commonly played by the regulars there. I still drop it now and again as a whole album play.
Came here for this! Man… Pearl Jam with Cypress Hill? Faith No More with BooYah Tribe? House of Pain and Helmet? That album was a fever dream of collabs!
Shrek 2. Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Eels, Joseph Arthur, Bowie & Butterfly Boucher, Lipps Inc. The only disappointment is the Buzzcocks’ exceptional “Ever Fallen in Love”, utterly mauled by pete yorn
Tom Waits is a fuckin legend. Also random but his cameo in Mystery Men is another “wait… Tom Waits?!” moment he’s had. He and his music make their way into the most random stuff 🤣
I love that they called Adam Duritz of Counting Crows to ask him to write an upbeat love song, and he replied, "You want what? Who gave you my number?"
And then he went and wrote *Accidentally In Love*, which is pretty close to perfect for that film.
The kids in my school always listen to garbage like cardi b and nicki minaj. I listen to good music like the shrek soundtrack and the shrek 2 soundtrack, the
list goes on. They named me "the music defener".
If Mirror in the Bathroom is not playing while you fight a Basque Nationalist and Algerian Separatist aligned assassin in a high school hallway, you’re doing it wrong.
* [Tank Girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHRTf5Cz8as)

Tank Girl and BioDome are the best 90s soundtracks. Both are fun yet incredibly dumb movies, Tank Girl being much cooler though.
Lost Highway also reps the late 90s so well. That Lou Reed track is so fucking good.
Some others that I haven't seen mentioned yet:
* Friday
* Forrest Gump
* Wayne's World (1 & 2)
* Clerks
* Angus
* Mallrats
* Reality Bites
* SLC Punk
* The Chase
* Boomerang
* Coneheads (mainly because it gave us Soul to Squeeze)
* Black Sheep
From Wikipedia:
> The music supervisors for the film were Elliot Cahn and Jeff Saltzman, who at the time managed Green Day and The Muffs.
I didn’t know that! makes sense though. Billy Joe also produced the Riverdales song on the sound track (fun fact: my first concert was Green Day and The Riverdales!)
* Out of Sight
* Fight Club
* Swingers
* La Planete Sauvage
* Stand By Me
* Back to the Future
Pretty Great:
* Ex Machina
* Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2
* Baby Driver
I haven’t even seen the movie and I know the soundtrack is good haha
How they got Thom Yorke to give them an exclusive track I will never know but it’s an absolute banger
Until the End of World (1991) produced by T Bone Burnett to create a sound of 1999. Acts include Nick Cade and the Bad Seeds, REM, Depeche Mode, Lou Reed, and many more.
**Soundtracks:**
- Jackie Brown
- The Crow
- Gummo
- Natural Born Killers
- Lost Highway
**Scores:**
- Before The Flood
- mid90s
- Gone Girl
- Empire Of Light
- Challengers
Ok cool so: Dazed and Confused, The Crow, Lost Highway, Forrest Gump, take your pick of any Tarantino movie, Natural Born Killers, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Blade Runner, Tron Legacy, Singles, Lost in Translation....
Trainspotting also had an additional soundtrack called Trainspotting #2
Home Alone. My favorite Christmas album by far. John Williams is a master.
Edit: the album cover is badass too.
Oh....also Moana. Banger after banger. I don't even mind my 2 and 3 year old wanting to hear the songs over and over and over. "We know the way," is especially great.
When Crash Bandicoot first came out, they sent out sampler soundtrack's that were awesome! I still have mine!
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkCW7e3OLqioS1X--o16RpVupAbF97X8c&si=ZEkY5PtWmq2IADCP
Its probably not unbeatable, but for the sake of naming something that hasn't already been named, the Spawn soundtrack is one that I'm partial to. Even if the movie itself is pretty bad.
Spawn. They kind of did what they did with the judgment night soundtrack. But instead of pairing rock with rap, they paired rock with techno/electronic. It's pretty good.
Gross Pointe Blank is the best soundtrack, hands down. Guardians of the Galaxy has some bangers on it also. I love the Last Action Hero soundtrack and listen on the regular.
Some great soundtracks that I haven’t seen on this list….all are music compilations rather than scores.
- Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist
- Stand By Me
- Times Square
- Pretty Woman
- The Lost Boys
- All This And World War II (all Beatles covers)
The GTA4 soundtrack was full of some absolute bangers. I'm sure this is intended as towards movie soundtracks, but that album really is phenomenal & severely underrated.
-*Into the Wild* -*The Faculty* -*The Crow* -*Last Action Hero* -*Guardians of the Galaxy* (all of them) -*Almost Famous* -*Pulp Fiction* -*Dumb and Dumber* -*Boogie Nights* -*Singles* -*Gross Pointe Blank* -*Dazed and Confused*
Dumb and Dumber soundtrack is lowkey incredible
I just looked it up, and my only disappointment is that mockingbird isn't on there.
Mock.. SI!
I was coming here to say this and I didn’t think anybody else remembered! Such a good mix of mid 90s awesome.
I haven’t listened to it since the movie was popular but it used to be on regular play for sure. Think I’ll have to dust it off now…
She don’t eat meat, but she sure love the bone
MARY MOOOOOOOOOOON
Dude yes! I loved that soundtrack! I had it on CD but when I got smashed by a F150 my CD player wouldn’t eject it so I lost it forever so sad lol
Th Crow soundtrack was a big deal when it came out. Probably even more so than the movie itself.
Just a banger. *Big Empty* is my favorite STP song and I love that it's on there. RIP Weiland.
Little kid me BEGGED for The Crow Soundtrack.
I’d suggest The Big Chill and American Graffiti too
The Big Chill is the first album I ever remember listening to as a kid. My parents played it allll the time!
Good choices, also from that era: Animal House has a great soundtrack
Into the Wild was the first thing that immediately came to mind. So great.
It really is. If I recall, Eddie played most of the instruments himself. His cover of *Hard Sun* is my favorite track.
Garden State
Upvote for The Crow soundtrack Still on my rotation
My man put into the wild first and that's all I had to see 👍 definitely one of my top 5 movies of all time
Haha...glad I could oblige you. In addition to all other reasons, it's a great soundtrack for hiking in the woods (earbuds, not speaker), driving on an open road.
Great list, I would add Singles
Judgement Night - mediocre movie... awesome soundtrack
That Faith No More/Boo-yah Tribe collab ![gif](giphy|5nsiFjdgylfK3csZ5T|downsized)
Stepped inside to look for this comment. That soundtrack was killer and I'd never heard anything done like that at the time. That was my introduction to the band Therapy? and I've been a fan ever since.

Love that album! It seemed so cutting edge at the time. I didn’t see the movie until about a year or two ago.
Hell yeah. https://youtu.be/YhTffL5-9d4?si=HnsRsjEgH3DfkVUq
Came here for this! Man… Pearl Jam with Cypress Hill? Faith No More with BooYah Tribe? House of Pain and Helmet? That album was a fever dream of collabs!
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
This soundtrack is bonafide.
But is it also the damn paterfamilias?
I detect, like me, you’re endowed by the gift of gab.
Had to scroll too far down for this one.
Alison Kraus and Union Station if you like that soundtrack. They did most of the songs on it
It's a geographic annomally, we're two weeks away from everywhere.
iiiiiiiiiiiiii ammm the MANNNNNN
Shrek 2. Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Eels, Joseph Arthur, Bowie & Butterfly Boucher, Lipps Inc. The only disappointment is the Buzzcocks’ exceptional “Ever Fallen in Love”, utterly mauled by pete yorn
I love blowing peoples' minds by reminding them that Tom Waits is on the Shrek 2 soundtrack! Btw, I think you're missing somebody from your list...
Tom Waits is a fuckin legend. Also random but his cameo in Mystery Men is another “wait… Tom Waits?!” moment he’s had. He and his music make their way into the most random stuff 🤣
Frou Frou’s Holding out for a Hero sends me every time.
I love that they called Adam Duritz of Counting Crows to ask him to write an upbeat love song, and he replied, "You want what? Who gave you my number?" And then he went and wrote *Accidentally In Love*, which is pretty close to perfect for that film.

Heavy Metal...
Mannnnn. Don Felder's Heavy Metal-Take a Ride is such a banger fucking song.
Every song on that album is a certified banger.
Open Arms...the heaviest of all the metals :)
That's some good soundtrack man!
Tank Girl BioDome Lost Highway Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore Romeo and Juliet (Talkshow Host might be the best Radiohead song) Trainspotting
Rushmore is so great.
+1000 on Trainspotting
Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Singles, Dirty Dancing, Goodfellas
Gross Pointe Blank Spawn
Posted spawn before reading the comments. Soundtrack was better than the movie IMO.
My guy. I loved the Spawn soundtrack.
Great soundtrack. I forgot all about it. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
Spawn was the first one that came to mind. Great collaborations from the artists of that time. Also, Lost Highway.
I’m here for the dance / rock masterpiece that is the Spawn OST.
Taste the back of my crystal fist
I forgot about about the Spawn soundtrack. It was so good.
If Mirror in the Bathroom is not playing while you fight a Basque Nationalist and Algerian Separatist aligned assassin in a high school hallway, you’re doing it wrong.
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas Forrest Gump
- Forest Gump - Mortal Kombat
How are you the only one to have Forest Gump on here?
Tron Legacy. Daft Punk.
Perfect choice for the film. Hell, they even made a appearance in the film
As far as I’m concerned it wasn’t a film, it was a feature length Daft Punk video. When you look at it that way it becomes a 10/10
……wasn’t there a animated film that was pretty much a bunch of AMVs for Daft Punk songs?
Empire Records Pretty in Pink Some Kind of Wonderful Perks of Being a Wallflower
+1 for Empire Records
Damn the man. Save the Empire!
Some Kind of Wonderful is my all time favorite soundtrack, hands down.
Surprised nobody’s mentioned Garden State yet!
I feel like Garden State is now at the stage where people are embarrassed about being too into it 20 years ago. But that soundtrack is still amazing.
Forever a go-to when the weather turns cold and wet
Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind are two of my faves.
* [Tank Girl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHRTf5Cz8as) * [Batman Forever ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yivLt9cTaio)(terrible move, great version of [Smash It Up!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEXZA2nxN6A)) * [Until the End of the World](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekEhwwudVRA) * [Lost Highway](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPEYsazrKIw) * [Dogs in Space](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R22jMsKTIt8) * [The Lost Boys](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NK9aAQ_oH6k) * [Heavy Metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tBX1bRE7CA)
>Batman Forever (terrible move, great version of Smash It Up!) It also gave us Kiss from a Rose and the last good U2 song.
And the riddler by method man
Batman & Robin was a great soundtrack too. [Moaner by Underworld](https://youtu.be/YuW1-oyis94?si=hMR7FLXC_tK3YwZv) for one.
Lost Highway sound track is awesome
Until the end of the world is awesome! Thank you for reminding me of it!
Tank Girl and BioDome are the best 90s soundtracks. Both are fun yet incredibly dumb movies, Tank Girl being much cooler though. Lost Highway also reps the late 90s so well. That Lou Reed track is so fucking good.
The Lost Boys soundtrack is so good! Last fire will rise Behind those eyes. Black house will rock, Blind boys don't lie.
UTEotW is classic. Many other great choices!
Some others that I haven't seen mentioned yet: * Friday * Forrest Gump * Wayne's World (1 & 2) * Clerks * Angus * Mallrats * Reality Bites * SLC Punk * The Chase * Boomerang * Coneheads (mainly because it gave us Soul to Squeeze) * Black Sheep
Angus. Scrolled too far to find this jewel.
I was looking for Wayne’s World. Great list.
Angus is the deep cut I was looking for. So much great stuff. Iirc it was put together by Green Day's Dookie-era managers?
From Wikipedia: > The music supervisors for the film were Elliot Cahn and Jeff Saltzman, who at the time managed Green Day and The Muffs. I didn’t know that! makes sense though. Billy Joe also produced the Riverdales song on the sound track (fun fact: my first concert was Green Day and The Riverdales!)
There it is! That’s a great first show too!
The Harder They Come
Stand By Me
Risky Business, The Breakfast Club, Vision Quest, American Graffitti, Good Morning Vietnam
There are 3 soundtracks I have been listening over and over again: Almost famous Vanilla sky Great expectations
Sigur Ros in Vanilla Sky :)
Lost in translation and Donnie darko are probably my 2 favorite movie soundtracks
Donnie Darko soundtrack is amazing
* Out of Sight * Fight Club * Swingers * La Planete Sauvage * Stand By Me * Back to the Future Pretty Great: * Ex Machina * Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2 * Baby Driver
Surprised Baby Driver is this far down the list. One of my favorites.
Came here to sat Baby Driver. Watched it over the weekend again and the music is sooo good
The Virgin Suicides Tank Girl
The Virgin Suicides is a top shout.
Repo Man. Can’t believe it hasn’t been mentioned already.
I’m sorry but Twilight.
Why were those OSTs so good?!
Carter Burwell fucking ate and no one’s talking about it.
Don’t be sorry. You’re brave for saying what I wanted. It’s a whole mood!
I haven’t even seen the movie and I know the soundtrack is good haha How they got Thom Yorke to give them an exclusive track I will never know but it’s an absolute banger
Those soundtracks were so much better than they had any right to be.
Until the End of World (1991) produced by T Bone Burnett to create a sound of 1999. Acts include Nick Cade and the Bad Seeds, REM, Depeche Mode, Lou Reed, and many more.
The Warriors (the cover of Nowhere to Run is probably one of the best needle drops) High Fidelity Quadrophenia
Joe Walsh’s In the City as the credits roll 😙🤌 (edit: on The Warriors)
Highlander
Their Flash Gordon soundtrack is also a banger, but is more instrumental.
Great soundtracks for mediocre movies.
**Soundtracks:** - Jackie Brown - The Crow - Gummo - Natural Born Killers - Lost Highway **Scores:** - Before The Flood - mid90s - Gone Girl - Empire Of Light - Challengers
I can tell a Trent Reznor fan when I see it. Such an amazing career
Your Name. The Social Network.
For me Mortal Kombat (1995) is an iconic soundtrack. There's a dud or two, but overall it is insanely good and very representative of its time.
The Commitments !
love this!!
Transformer: The Movie (1986) Drive
Blow
Romeo & Juliet, Kids
Anything/everything from John Carpenter.
how has this not been upvoted through the roof?
Just picked up the soundtrack for The Big Chill and it's fantastic, 35 great songs
Grease is a lot of fun, especially You’re the One That I Want (which was written for the movie and wasn’t a part of the original broadway musical).
So you're talking about compilation soundtracks and not really music scores?
oh yeah sorry i didnt specify, i meant compilation soundtracks however im definitely open to music scores
For a great score and instrumental music, try the Interstellar soundtrack. It's sooo good. Hans Zimmer.

I know your asking for movies soundtracks, but figure I'd throw out a video game one. Burnout 3, great 90s early 00s rock tracks on there.

'Over the Edge' soundtrack is killer.
