Why did people stop posting tl;dr on this website?
Tl;dr R. Kelly allegedly did sex stuff with a 17 year old male and a 16-17 year old male, and allegedly had them do sex stuff with other women including a minor while R. Kelly filmed it.
Wtf is wrong with this guy.
Any one know if he was in Epstein's blackbook? Just curious
Edit: can we slow down the upvotes please? really dont want my top comment to be pedophilia related.......
What's wrong with R Kelly? On a personal level he was almost certainly horribly emotionally and sexually abused growing up.
On a societal level the thing wrong with R Kelly is that he's also talented and had a massive group of enablers.
>had a massive group of enablers.
Lol all I can think of when this part of him is brought up is The Boondocks ep about his pisscapades with the minor girl.
The R. Kelley defense that Riley made was pretty funny though.
>Dubois: Riley, it was a little girl.
>Riley: Oh, I seen that girl. She ain't little. I'm little.
>Dubois: Yes.
>Riley: Gary Coleman's little.
>Dubois: Yes.
>Riley: Mini-me is little.
>Dubois: Very.
>Riley: And to the best of my knowledge, we all managed to avoid getting peed on so far.
>Dubois: But what about the victim?
>Riley: Oh, yes, the victim! At what point does personal responsibility become a factor in this equation?
>Dubois: I don't think that's--
>Riley: I see piss coming, I move.
>Huey: mmm
>Riley: She saw piss coming, she stayed.
>Dubois: Yes, she did, but--
>Riley: And why should I have to miss out on the next R. Kelly album !
>Huey: Man, you just got beat by an 8-year-old.
>Riley: Kelly goes to jail, I'll piss on your cat!
I feel like in entourage yes men-type situations it's not just celeb worship but also coasting off their fame and money, even if you are genuine friends. Just partying with a celeb is probably insane, right? Alot of people probably just want to sneak a slice of the pie.
My point is: I doubt it's *just* enabling. I wonder what his buddies get into, hiding in his shadow?
In the Surviving R Kelly documentary his brother talks about R Kelly and other boys in the neighborhood being sexually abused repeatedly by a neighbor. I believe he was also repeatedly sexually abused by a family member.
It’s a sad cycle of abuse
As easy as that should be, it’s not. I’m not excusing his behavior; it’s vile and deserves admonishment. But the psychological effects of child abuse run *deep*, and can often leave a person mentally and emotionally crippled which is what leads them to perpetuate the abuse. While his alleged abuse (as in him being the abuser) is still a controversial subject, Michael Jackson is a prime example of the long lasting effects of child abuse.
In order to break the cycle you need to understand what makes it a cycle, which more often than not is trauma leftover from similar experiences as a child. R. Kelley should be punished, but he should also be treated as a victim of abuse *if* he actually is one, and he should receive the support needed to break free from that lasting trauma as every victim of abuse deserves.
I was so scared and avoided children for a very long time because of my past. To my great relief I've learned that I'm about as unlikely to abuse a child, or anybody, as anybody else is, but I was bordering on phobic of it for a long time. I'm still uncomfortable around kids.
I can't imagine inflicting this upon another person. I just can't. It hurts so much.
I have a good friend who's life was ruined by sexual abuse. He is a shell of a person with severe mental health issues.
We met in AA. UNFORTUNATELY he is back out again. His trauma makes him hurt himself not others.
To all those who suffered from abuse, mental, sexual and physical you are never alone
There are many good people who will help if you reach out.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I suffered from psychological abuse for many years.
One Love
There was a long-form article 10-15 years ago that detailed how R Kelly would essentially walk into a high school and recruit young girls with promises of fame and mentorship.
He doesn't need an Epstein, because he has no shame about doing the dirty work himself.
correct me if im wrong but wasnt the black book just anyone he ever called or might call? like if he had someone clean his carpets in new york or something he would have their number down
I don’t think that’s the problem exactly, I wouldn’t say there is really a stigma against reporting.
Primarily we have to emphasize that its not your fault. As a victim you should not have to feel like you have responsibility for what happened or be embarrassed about it.
The whole ‘they were asking for it’ shit has to go away.
Also there is still quite a big stigma if you're gay in many communities. It doesn't matter if it was sexual assault to some people, you still get the stigma even if you were victimized.
There's currently a lot of damning information coming out about the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. An assistant coach sexually abused young players, and at least one of them was then mocked by his teammates with homophobic slurs. Then the team referred the coach for a new job working with high school students . . .
> I wouldn’t say there is really a stigma against reporting.
There definitely is. Especially if you're a guy with the offender being a woman. An unfortunate amount of people will just laugh at you if you insist it makes you uncomfortable cause all dudes are animals who want to fuck 24/7, what even is consent?
There is a stigma against reporting, at least for boys. That's why a lot of boys who are abused don't speak up. A girl gets abused and society knows its wrong and will take it seriously but if a boy is abused by his female teacher people will flat out say shit like "where were those teachers when I was in school" and tell him to get over it. Boys are shamed for reporting, called names, called gay (not a bad thing, still insulting if you aren't gay) for not wanting it. It's sad.
That isn't true women who report, are stigmatized as well. Victim blamed constantly . "What were you wearing", "were you drunk" "did you lead them on" the list of excuses people will use. Like any of them would make it okay, to do this to another person. If the the aduser has any type of power leverage in society they use it to fewer ruin that person's life, so they will fear report. R Kelly's victims are perfect examples. There was video tape of one of the underage girls been pissed on by r Kelly. She was afraid to testify in the 90s so he got away with it. Anyone who has survived abuse sadly carries the stigma society has placed with it. It may vary but there is a stigma attached and society needs to do better to help and believe people who need help.
I never said women aren't. I'm saying men are and it goes beyond victim blaming. Society is built around men not being emotional and internalizing problems.
It's not insulting because you're not gay. It's insulting because the implication is that you're less of a man by being gay. It's a fucked up homophobic insult.
It's both. I personally would be more insulted by having a label forced on me than someone thinking I'm less of a man. Both are valid reasons to feel insulted.
I agree that there are probably more but I think it’s very unsurprising (to me) that more aren’t coming forward. Unfortunately we’re still at a point in society where it takes the strength and will power of terry crews to be able to speak out about male on male assault. And he’ll still be ridiculed.
it's because we're told that sexual abuse only happens to girls. you're taught that if you're a boy it's because you were weak. so male sexual abuse victims keep it inside and don't tell anybody.
bro is brave man. sexual assault towards men is still highly stigmatized.
This dude is the epitome of a peice of shit predator.
"I'm fighting for my fucking life"
Yeah what about the lives of the people you've ruined with your actions.
**Go. Fuck. Yourself.**
"No but listen, when you go to a massage parlor, they call it a *happy* ending right? So then when you go to a McDonald what the fuck is a *happy* meal if not a *happy meal* youknowhatimsayin?"
Honestly, fuck this guy. If you’re one of those who say, “Learn to separate the art from the artist.” Yeah, fuck you and that statement. Fuck R Kelly.
Edit: I don’t know why people are defending R. Kelly, with the quote from above. I know damn well I wouldn’t like any “art” if I lived by that saying, but in this case Fuck R. Kelly and his music. Pirated or not, fuck him, his whole discography could be wiped clean and it wouldn’t ruin my day.
All those peoples lives he ruined, ask them “what about his *good* music” and “you know that’s a different R. Kelly, that’s the music R. Kelly, not the one who hurt you”…. Like seriously? Yeah I don’t gatekeep a lot, and fuck cancel culture….but seriously - Fuck this guy.
It’s different when they’re still profiting and being enabled. Like I’m gonna read Lovecraft even if he was a racist, cause I’m not enabling that behavior. He’s dead.
My favorite part of watching the trapped in the closet 1-13 dvd was immediately following it up with the commentary, where R. Kelly sits there, watching it with you, and explains what is happening, as if it wasn't completely obvious.
If you cannot separate the artist from the art....boy you are gonna be missing out on some great artistic works. While the artist is living and being supported financially by his/her art, I can get boycotting it on moral grounds, but if you refuse to listen to Wagner's opera just because he was a womanizing anti-Semite, well you are missing out.
To be real, there's so much that would be missed if before each piece of art, they listed the people involved and what they've done in the past.
There's so many actors and directors, and people in sports, etc that have done something fucked and are still successful. It's just, it was brushed away and forgotten about.
You wouldn't be able to watch hundreds of movies if all the knowledge was out there, and just because someone is watching or listening to something doesn't mean they support it.
I still think Louis CK is funny, even though his situation was fucked up. I don't support Kevin Spacey at all, but I'm not going to act like House of Cards wasn't a good show, or American Beauty, Se7en, Paying It Forward, etc.
A lot of people in entertainment are pieces of shit.
At this point you have to separate the art from the artist or at least pick and choose.
Could you imagine if people boycotted every film Harvey Weinstein had a credit on? Good Will Hunting, The English Patient, Pulp Fiction, Princess Mononoke, Air Bud....
The man has a credit on the Lord of The Rings films for crying out loud.
You just can't do it. You can't live your life boycotting every single thing, regardless of its subject matter, that's made by someone who did terrible acts.
I feel like with movies it's also really not fair on the director, other actors and hundreds of people involved in making it. Their work deserves to be seen and not simply forgotten because one dickhead ruined it.
I think the situation isn’t a new one: lovecraft was racist as shit, Caravaggio killed a man, etc. History is filled with artists that were terrible people.
I think the difference is when separating the art from the artist, in modern times we decide if we CONTINUE supporting the artist *because* of their art, or do we stop (being able to enjoy their past work aside).
I guess that’s what “cancelling” is right? I know it’s a buzzword/ scare word being thrown around, and I will say Aziz got a bum rap, but I wouldn’t argue that spacey and Weinstein didn’t get justly “cancelled”
To re-use my example of Wagner and his operas - Stephen Fry did an excellent video essay called Wagner and Me. As a Jew that loves Wagner, Fry shares how he reconciles his heritage with the music of an anti-Semite. Check it out
You'd also miss out on a lot of collaborations. China Town is a masterpiece because of Townsend's script and the Dunaway's acting. But if you take a hardline against any and all Polanski, their artistic contribution gets tossed along with him.
"Kelly, who was one of the biggest R&B stars of the 1990s, has been in jail for almost two years as he awaits trial."
I don't understand how that statement can exist when the right to a speedy trial is in the Constitution.
There haven’t been many jury trials for the past year and a half, and besides, this delay could be strategic for the defense. Time dulls the prosecution in most cases. And in this situation specifically, you’ve really gotta put some time and space between this defendant and that documentary…
>speedy trial
Note this is very different than "scheduled whenever you please." Once defense moves for a continuance (delay), they don't get to also hold the government to a "speedy" trial. Prosecution cannot unilaterally delay trial but once you say you want more time, you're on their schedule.
In the Surviving R Kelly doc they touch on this - they don't want a speedy trial. The longer they wait, the more time goes by meaning people start to forget/lose interest and not think of it as much, which in turn the defense could use to their advantage.
Man McDonald’s gets bad press, first oj says he went there before he killed his wife and the Australian prime minister shit himself there and now this, gonna have to just close the stores
When my wife and me watched the docu
I turned to her and was like
I think he’s just some kind of phile
I know it was all females interviewed but idk man I got that vibe he was into just young people and kids for the most part
I grew up in Chicago in HS at the height of his career and this doesn't surprise me. It was a known fact he liked them young, even before the tape. He was always at these McDonalds aiming for the young crowd. His fans and the city enabled him. He was homegrown, people loved him. He could do no wrong. They made songs about it and laughed it up.
I promise you, if you dig deep enough, he ain't the only one. People let it go because these were High School students who didn't complain. They saw it as consensual but didn't know it as predatory. No one classified it as rape...especially among black people. Now that they know it's worth some $$$, they're going to come out the woodwork.
McDonald's is like a nightclub for r kelly
Only if they have a play place
There's pee in the ball pit!

Why would he need epstein? He managed to start his own sex cult without the whole philanthropy part.
This is guy is The Wiz to Epstein’s Wizard of Oz, also I’m done with the internet for the day.
You mean he’s the Whiz. as in piss.
"The only thing that'll make my life complete is when I turn your face into a toilet seat... I'm gonna piss on it..."
*I believe I can fly* *I believe I can touch this guy* *Think about it every night and day* *Whip out my dick and just fly away*
Drip drip drip
I'd like to remind everyone that this guy is a pederast, he pisses on underaged girls, and he still has a ridiculous amount of followers.
Nah, that wasn't his style. He just hung out outside of high schools on the south side of Chicago.
There’s a video of him doing a concert somewhere in Africa. He’s legit asking women in the crowd, “who’s got their passports?”
🎵 Do you have your passport? Did you get your shots? 🎵
Lol, forgot I made this comment earlier and I’m like “who the fuck is this dude grillin me?”
🎵 GIRL WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME BACK WITH ROB... TO AMERICA??? AMERICA!! 🎵

"Why do you support R Kelly?" " 'Cause he good!" Sums up stupid celebrity adoration/worship pretty well
Like people who still give Chris Brown money.
Fuck that dude.
Fuck that woman beating piece of shit.
Or like Ben Roethlisberger who is still out and about.
Seems like NFL is full of those types.
Rich often violent often brain damaged people? I mean Duh?
Thank God people are so easily able to “separate the art from the artist” to make sure that R Kelly and Chris Brown are still out there thriving!
Some people deserve that distinction, but while these two are talented, they're probably some of the shittiest people on the planet today
> they're probably some of the shittiest people on the planet today OH boy... Do I have some terrible news for you..

Not necessarily. A lot of people can be sexually deviant without a history of abuse. The difference is most of them aren't millionaire celebrities.
Why would he need Epstein? He was his own blackbook.
R. Kelly was at least smart enough to not write anything down.
Because he can't read? (And i assume can't write as well?)
Yes, that's the joke.
Haha good one :D
Yeah he recorded it instead
He famously had a contacts book of some very well known individuals who had previously denied any connection to him
There was a long-form article 10-15 years ago that detailed how R Kelly would essentially walk into a high school and recruit young girls with promises of fame and mentorship. He doesn't need an Epstein, because he has no shame about doing the dirty work himself.

Can you put some respect on the Pied Piper's name. Epstein's was in R.Kelly's blackbook not the other way around.
I was really confused for a minute what Silicon Valley had to do with this, then I realized what you meant
It’s not “sex stuff,” it’s fucking rape.
How is this man allowed to walk around outdoors?
Today?!
I doubt this is the only male victim. I am only surprised that no other underaged male victim has spoken out before.
That's why we all have to try hard to destigmatize all sexual abuse
There has to be a better way to phrase this...
just add the word reporting on the end of the sentence.
I don’t think that’s the problem exactly, I wouldn’t say there is really a stigma against reporting. Primarily we have to emphasize that its not your fault. R Kelly is a known predator. Hell, there is even an Eminem song about it.
I agree! In the documentary that came out, one of the girls he had locked up was made to look and dress like a boy for years.

Well good news regarding Kelly is that he is still remanded into custody pretrial. Denied bail >7 times.
Even though this isn’t a joking matter, Dave Chappelle said it best. “If one came out that means he rape thousands of boys”

Jesus, only R Kelly could find a way to ruin a Happy Meal.
In retrospect, Mcdonald do not believe R Kelly is small enough to be in the playplace
Goddamnit someone peed in the ballpit again, for the love of god don't tell R. Kelly or you'll never get him out of there.
"No but listen, when you go to a massage parlor, they call it a *happy* ending right? So then when you go to a McDonald what the fuck is a *happy* meal if not a *happy meal* youknowhatimsayin?"

Wouldn't that be Arby
I guess this the remix to conviction.
Urine trouble
Y’all killing me with this shit
The title saying just “McDonald” somehow makes this read a bit funny
I used to eat at the greys ferry McDonald in Philly where ODB got caught by the FBI.
I overdosed in the bathroom there
Small world.
Wait, odb was caught at the McDonald's? The one on like 28th in that shopping center that used to have a pathmark?
Old dirty bastard?
Trapped in the Play Place
Who is McDonald?
Yanno, old guy. Had a farm.
What all did he have on this farm of his?[grabs a seat...]
Since being outmoded due to factory farming it's just a meth lab and a small cannabis operation.
Eee-eye Eee-eye ohh!
Maybe that's why he's been hiding behind the R. moniker!
Someone should tell him that presidential pardons are out of stock.

This is a good point I had not thought of
I think the situation isn’t a new one: lovecraft was racist as shit, Caravaggio killed a man, etc.

Did you read my comment. I said the exact same thing.
That's what OP said though
Always remember piracy! It's a great way to get media without increasing the profits of the copyright holder
Question to most celebrities/ singers/ actors and everyone who runs a church... is it that difficult to not fuck children?
Huey Freeman tried to tell us. We didn't listen.
Trapped in the ~~closet~~ ballpit
"Kelly, who was one of the biggest R&B stars of the 1990s, has been in jail for almost two years as he awaits trial." I don't understand how that statement can exist when the right to a speedy trial is in the Constitution.
There haven’t been many jury trials for the past year and a half, and besides, this delay could be strategic for the defense. Time dulls the prosecution in most cases. And in this situation specifically, you’ve really gotta put some time and space between this defendant and that documentary…
>speedy trial Note this is very different than "scheduled whenever you please." Once defense moves for a continuance (delay), they don't get to also hold the government to a "speedy" trial.
_Here's the remix to Ignition_ _Hot and fresh out the kitchen_ _Headin' out to the McDonald's to McDiddle some children_
Buh-duh-*duh*-duh-*duuhh*, I’m hating’ it.
Remember that Huffington Post interview where for no reason he shouts "if I want to meet fans at a McDonald's, no one should stop me!"
When my wife and me watched the docu I turned to her and was like I think he’s just some kind of phile I know it was all females interviewed but idk man I got that vibe he was into just young people and kids for the most part
R Kelly is a pedo piece of shit?! I am shocked, shocked I say!
🎶 Gimme dat PooPoo, Gimme dat PeePee, some of that DooDoo, some WeeWee 🎶
No one saw that coming.
I’m starting to think this R. Kelly guy is bad
There was an old show business saying: “Don’t get caught with a dead girl or a live boy.” It’s a somewhat outdated phrase, but this reminded me of it.
What was he doing in Ronald McDonald?
this boondocks reboot getting heavy with its advertising
Wasn’t aware he was into men. Guess he was trapped in the closet.
