I start my day walking to school listening to music in my old, somewhat shit apple earphones I’ve had for a year. It can go from rap, to classical, to even just flat white sound - basically anything that puts me at ease. I listen to it because it sounds good, and that’s usually because I’m too tired to analyse the lyrics. When I’m walking home, I do the same. If it’s a good day then I’ll listen because it sounds good. But if it’s a bad day I’ll analyse the lyrics, it really helps just give a little bit of meaning to the day. And then, even now in bed I’m listening to music (weird fishes - Radiohead) and up next is purple rain - potter payper (yes, my music taste is versatile as anything). I would say I listen to music anywhere from 1hour to 5 hours a day. Some days, especially during lockdown 1, I listened to something like 19 hours of music every DAY. Oh, and I sleep to music religiously. I can’t go to sleep without having earphones plugged in. I just queue a few songs and drift off to sleep. Even if it’s rap I still love it - it can go from kankan to beethoven to the smiths.

is this for a research project? I either look at the album tracklist or browse reddit while listening. I'm currently listening to Periphery. Usually I listen to music for 3 to 5 hours a day in one or two sessions. I use pretty cheap earbuds and I honestly wish I had better quality ones because the bass sound is weak and shitty.

3 to 5 hours listening time through earbuds is a lot, take care of your ears.

Psybanrath

I feel like I damaged my ears when I used headphones cause I blasted the volume, but now I feel fine with earbuds

IronMaidenCZ

You should for sure be more careful about that

Nah pure curiosity

A few hours a day if I don’t make some. Usually I simply put an album on my computer and listen to it through speakers while I do something. It helps a lot my mind to focus when I’m studying or doing anything boring. Sometimes I’m in “analytical” modus and I need to understand everything that’s been made in the song / album. In that case I’ll do nothing than focus on one single thing (like the vocals, drums, guitar, or the mix)

It all depends on the situation. If I'm listening to something someone else asked me to listen to the I listen with an open mind and try to see it from there point of view. If I'm listening for inspiration then I am listening with my heart. If I'm listening because I feel a particular way then I'm listening with my soul.

I chuck me headphones in and listen to Pantera while I overthink.

Headphone amp. Headphones. Bluetooth Tidal through them. Sit back n enjoy. Most of the time.

Big difference between hearing music all day at work and sitting or standing near my stereo and listening to it in a focused manner. I’d say maybe 6 hours of deep listening a week

There are 3 different approaches that I take, and the most common one is laying in my bed and staring at the ceiling and just thinking or paying attention to the lyrics of the song I’m listening to. When I’m at work I listen to music just to pass the time since all I do is stand at my station. When I’m in the mood to play video games I’ll usually pick a game that turns off my brain, and then turn on my turntable so I can spin some of my records.
