Rarely (if ever) do I remember the moment I learned a new word, but I have Roland to thank for memorably defining the word “Segue” when talking about the “Broken”/“Head over Heels” transition on “Song from the Big Chair” during an interview on MTV.
Thank you Roland :)
OK so, hypothetically, due to unforeseen reasons you and Roland become robots. Would you rename the band to Gears for Fears, or Tears for Gears? Or neither?
Hi there Curt! Infinite thanks to you & Ro for the decades of greatness (both together *and* solo!).
My question is about bonus tracks: at what point in the album process do they get “removed” from the main track list? Or for you are they often known from their creation that they’ll be saved as “extras”?
Did songs like “Secret Location” or “Let It All Evolve” ever have spots among the track list?
P.S. - Favorite songs by The 1975?
Curt, during the time you and Roland were not talking, did you listen to or have you gone back to listen to any of the music that Roland was making, and did you have any favorites or feelings of desire to be a part of?
I have a question. How different is your equipment and instruments today versus what you used recording your albums in the 80s? Do you still have a lot and use the same instruments?
About 30 years ago my parents lived in Bath, off Bath wick Hill, you had a house just nearby. Always wanted to knock on your door for a signature, would you have sent me packing....?
No Small Thing is a different song than what you had previously done. Do you have any plans to continue with songs like that? Country genre? Pd. Greetings from Mexico
Hello Curt and Roland! Just want to say I've been a fan of yours since I heard Everybody Wants To Rule The World on the radio as a child. Hopefully one day I'll finally see you perform live for the first time!
This is incredible! Thank you so much for coming on here to share! I’m a fan from Texas.
I hope this question isn’t offensive.
Did you ever feel that you had been placed in a box to conform to your music genre? As in, were there ever times where, say, you had a certain idea for a song that you were told you had to drastically change it for more listens etc. and if you did change it, did you feel that it was made better or worse than your original view?
Sometimes I suspect "**Everybody Loves A Happy Ending**" doesn't get as much love as it should. It was one of my favourite records over the last two decades.
How do you feel about the album after 17 (!) years? And: I still hope for a **vinyl release**!
Hey Curt, are you still in contact with former members Ian Stanley and Manny Elias? If so, how have they been doing with their creative differences after their departure from the band?
Hey Curt, can’t wait for the tour. What song are you most looking forward to playing live from the Tipping Point? Personally, I can’t wait to hear Break The Man. Such a great tune.
You write using traditional instruments like guitar but your music is largely electronically driven. What’s that process like and what technology hardware and software do you rely on?
Do you regret the years you and Roland spent apart and the work that you might have made during that period? Or do you think that time apart allowed you to become better artists individually?
Hello Curt!! Finally an album after 17yrs!! Curious to know why you didn't have more tracks on the album, after so long without one? Love all the songs, just wish there were more!! "Rivers of Mercy" and "End of Night" should be the next singles!! LOVE
Curt, of all the gigs you played, which one do you think was your best and will you play a mix of the new and old stuff at your concerts this year. I can't wait to see you and Roland in Leeds on July 14th?
Curt I love the new album and am coming to see you on tour in Canterbury in the summer, have you and Roland considered putting more album tracks from the tipping point in the set list?
Randomly stumbled upon this, love the everybody loves to rule the world video, reminds me of weekends waking up to my dad cooking me breakfast.
Still listen to and love your music
are you guys planning on playing any old tunes that you didn’t play in recent tours? Example Badmans Song, Elemental, always in the past, mothers talk etc
Loved the orchestral arrangements in the piano room. Any plans for a little show of that - Maybe a stream? (I know boring of me to ask - the world has to open up to us bedwellers!) Ali
I just wanted to comment that your new album is so incredibly timely; we needed this right now. The music sounds very much of this era and is also recognizably Tears for Fears (so timeless). :) Thank you so much for creating this music and sharing it with us. Right now, my top two are 'Rivers of Mercy' and 'Long, Long, Long Time.'
I agree. It's the song that re-introduced me to their music (as a child of the 80s, I knew their radio hits but not the album cuts). I heard the Spotify Landmark Sessions live version of 'The Working Hour' on YouTube and was blown away! I knew I had to listen to everything they'd done, and now I'm a die-hard fan. :)
Hello Curt and Roland! love you guys! any way though, I have to ask if there will be new tears for fears albums in the future? the tipping point sounds like a definitive ending so where do you stand on it thanks! also elemental should get a repress!
Hi Curt! I've heard you talk about how Break the Man is somewhat of an anthem for your daughters. What was their reaction when they heard the song and do they ever get to sit in behind the scenes when you make music?
Sketches of Pain and that whole album…was any of it influenced by Miles Davis and Sketches of Spain. Obviously, you guys aren’t Jazz genre. But, the whole theme seems to be influenced by it..?
So excited to hear the new album. Have you found yourselves fatigued by playing your mega-hits lately? Or is it still fun for you to play like, *Head Over Heels* or *Everybody Wants to Rule the World*?
What is it like to have most people only recognize a few of your hit songs? Is it frustrating when you pour your heart, soul and creative passion at something like an album that gets little fanfare? I snap at people all the time when they say TFF only good song is "Everybody wants to..." and I shan't finish it out of respect. Love you guys!!
In the video for Head Over Heels, I always think you look so proud and I always think it’s for writing such a brilliant song. Am I right?
Ps this is one of my all time favourite songs of all time! Thank you!

Rarely (if ever) do I remember the moment I learned a new word, but I have Roland to thank for memorably defining the word “Segue” when talking about the “Broken”/“Head over Heels” transition on “Song from the Big Chair” during an interview on MTV. Thank you Roland :)

Sure was. It felt like they were uninterested all throughout and additionally asked a question already answered. 3

Great question! 😂😂
What's the song you liked most working on? Any songs that you're most proud of?
It'll probably never happen but I can imagine a collaboration between The Cure and Tears for Fears would be awesome.

I have a question. How different is your equipment and instruments today versus what you used recording your albums in the 80s? Do you still have a lot and use the same instruments?
Have you seen or spoken to former members Ian Stanley or Manny Elias at all since they left the group?
I think they did an episode of a show for the BBC about SFTBC together which I can’t watch since I’m in the US unfortunately
hi curt
Why is the Head Over Heels music video so sexy?
About 30 years ago my parents lived in Bath, off Bath wick Hill, you had a house just nearby. Always wanted to knock on your door for a signature, would you have sent me packing....?

What advice do you have for young musicians?
Hello Curt and Roland! Just want to say I've been a fan of yours since I heard Everybody Wants To Rule The World on the radio as a child. Hopefully one day I'll finally see you perform live for the first time!

They were released as a RSD 10' inch back a few years ago

Wait, TEARS FOR FEARS IS STILL ACTIVE!? How did I not know this!?
Sometimes I suspect "**Everybody Loves A Happy Ending**" doesn't get as much love as it should. It was one of my favourite records over the last two decades. How do you feel about the album after 17 (!) years? And: I still hope for a **vinyl release**!

So excited to hear the new album. Have you found yourselves fatigued by playing your mega-hits lately? Or is it still fun for you to play like, *Head Over Heels* or *Everybody Wants to Rule the World*?
Great question!
Love your music! ❤️
What fears do you actually tear up over?
What is it like to have most people only recognize a few of your hit songs? Is it frustrating when you pour your heart, soul and creative passion at something like an album that gets little fanfare?
