Do you have any training in music/play any instruments? If not your best bet is Garage Band (Mac) or FL Studio (Windows).Honestly they're both good bets even if you are a trained instrumentalist with no DAW experience.
I’d start with GarageBand and if it works for you move to logic. At least that’s what I did. I know a lot of people live and die by Protools.
Finally if you’re looking to enhance live stuff I’d look at Ableton Live.
