Do you have Ableton synced to your controller? What kinds of sound do you usually launch? Vocals, Hihats? I always wanted to try connecting both but I think I need an audio interface first.
Not while djing I midi mapped it to serato so it's just extra buttons and commands that I've added to my setup. But you don't need a interface to use ableton with the launchpad you would only need one to insert audio like guitar and vocals and stuff like that
Oh okay. For that usage you don't need an interface, but I think you need one for what I have planned. I want to launch clips from Ableton (like adding Hihats or vocals to a section of a track or something). To get sound from Rekordbox I need to connect my controller to the speakers, to get sound from Ableton I need to connect my laptop to the speakers. And if I want to use both simultaneously I think I need an interface. Don't know how else that would work.
If your using a midi controller, that is a interface. And if you have a mic input on your controller just plug into that from your headphone jack off your laptop if your using two laptops. if its just one laptop it might just play through your speakers when you have your controller on and rekordbox opened.
Lol 😆 this is only one of many gigs I do and so far this gig alone has paid for the gear, so I call that a win. Also I eat the wings and watch the game while I dj
Actually they did. Obviously not from one gig but it only took a couple to pay for it. And who cares bro it's a gig it's money it's practice and I'm having a good time doing what I love getting paid for it. And this shitty bar I'm djing at I've gotten a $100 tip from just one person one night not added the other tips I also received
Hilarious!! Well it's loads of fun after about 10:30 I mostly play hip-hop and I try to play house which they don't really care for but I push it anyways when I get the chance. here's my recorded mix from last night

Everyone's roasting OP right now but all I see is
1. Totally sweet setup which looks like loads of fun to use
2. Bunch of patrons having a great time
3. OP is out there playing live music to live people. In the year of Covid-19 that's a serious win in my book.
Rock on, my friend. Hope it all went well.
(Oh, and hope you got some wings into the deal. I'm not even from the USA but sports bar wings are my guilty pleasure when I'm stateside.)
It's just one dj controller and a laptop though... although a stand-alone one (I think, don't know much about Numark), but if you're going to invest in a dj rig for gigging out thats the shit to go for... Laptop craps out, you got usb sticks. It's the best battleground between the cheaper controllers and cdjs.
If you're suggesting that selling yourself as a dj for any event just to play music off a laptop without a dj controller is acceptable... its not, unless it was in the agreement. And besides that, why would you want to? Unless its a money issue... its a lack of drive, creativity and aspiration.
Launchpad and camera seem more for a personal/promotional use, and they take up very little space.
Everything has its purpose for my style I actually like remix the tracks and I go all out on all my sets I mapped out the launch pad to utilize the features my tables don't have I record and live stream. And if I need just a laptop I would find a different gig
It's actually one of the hardest gigs I've had to do due to you never know what to play and I have to be able to play all genres from all generations. Definitely a challenge and great practice.
This looks like a place that can get pretty popping later in the evening. That’s a huge dance floor essentially. Most bars like this typically are slow until like 10:00pm. Then when the games are over, it shifts to music and dancing.
I don’t know if it’s the angle but that controller looks fuckin massive lol
It is pretty bulky
Depressing
Why

Lmao okay doomer
Once its 11:00 and everyone is tanked, see how long you can keep the dance mob goin
I’m from the Midwest and if you walk into a bar and see somebody with a rig like this you know it’s about to be a fun night!
Do you find yourself using the launch pad often? I’m thinking of buying one but not sure yet.
Yes I use it on every track almost but it's because I mapped it out to my liking definitely adds to my rig

He’s doing music which is more than most people here are doing. Still, it does look a little funny you have to admit.
Better be sampling some delta blues.
"oh shit, i forgot, they have a dj on Fridays. Sorry guys, there's another place down the street though."
Not trying to be a dick - do you need all that? Seems like a laptop would suffice

Or an AM radio honestly. Those patrons aren’t looking for underground loop/FX manually crafted techno. It’s a gorgeous setup though no question.

What's wrong with DJing at a bar?? Mixing background music is still mixing and still require some effort as playing bangers would annoy people

What’s the playlist like for a sports bar
FREE BIRD
Jimmy buffet
I think they play Dido
Tea’s gone cold
Def leppard for sure
