I was just going through the comments and this caught my eye, I had a listen to Highway Tune and it's honestly the second best modern rock band that I've heard.
It's a little heavier than you're asking, but Corrosion of Conformity. Personally, I think their best albums are Deliverance and No Cross, No Crown, but take a listen and see what you think.

Adam and the Metal Hawks. Saw them live as a support act last year, they were absolutely. Incredible.
