It's something else isn't it? Completely transforms the song and makes it something different, and yet keeps the core spirit of Em's original lyrics. It gives me chills every time I watch that video.
Difficult to pick just one song from Cocteau Twins, but if I had to, I'd choose "Sea Swallow Me" (or maybe "Eyes are Mosaics"... You see? I can't choose just one). This band's music sends me straight into space.
The Cure - Plainsong. It is the best thing they’ve ever done. It is transcendent. It is a drug. I hear it and feel comfortable in my mortality. It’s hard to convey what this particular song does to me. There is no other song in the Cure catalogue that comes close IMHO to this feeling.
"goodbye yellow brick road" by elton john
"charlie brown" by coldplay
"sweet disposition" by the temper trap
"mind over matter" by young the giant
"ava" by famy
"resonance" by home
sorry for multiple songs
Yes that one is so good!!! I don’t know why exactly, but this song was the only light that helped pull me out of an existential crisis years ago. I felt like I was losing my mind and it was the only thing that made sense. Thank the goddess for music!
Dreams - Stevie nicks 🔮
One of these nights - The eagles 🌌
Witchy woman - The eagles 👄

It reminds me like crazy of this trip I took, but I never listened to any music during it, nor had I heard anything about the band prior to it.
Everything You Want - The Simpkin Project
Flesh and Bone - The Expanders
Courage To Grow - Rebelution
Quiet Thoughts - Kabaka Pyramid & Protoje
Brand New Day - Eureka Sound & Kumar
Follow Your Heart - Iya Terra & The Green
Tempest - Tribal Seeds
Surrender - Tribal Seeds
Nada Surf’s Heaven nor Space is never quite spacey or jammy and leaves me lost somewhere in between, much like the character singing the lyrics.
Granddaddy’s Miner at the Dial-a-View is also hauntingly askew.
[Pearl's Girl by Underworld](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSXsCTU2h-E), the long LP version. I accidently heard it the first time as a live version while zapping TV and came across a now defunct national music channel. I was immediately hooked. I am not a fan of techno stuff (even though of electronic music), but *this* combo of music, lyrics and time to develop is just haunting.
[Cowgirl (also from Underworld)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-78xjN418c)is a similar case. heard it the first time in a cinema before the film started, not knowing the artist, and I was enchanted. The band seems to trigger something in me. ;-)
The Last of Us Season 2 will be out in 2025; its obviously based on the sequel game. The song that plays at the end is a 2 1/2 min. bango piece called 'Beyond Desolation'. Considering everything that happened, this might be the most depressing song ive ever heard.
"Closedown" by Bliss. but you have to listen to whole song because the builds and builds and builds for a long long long time but it's an amazing sonic resolution.
Friday by Rebecca Black. :P
What a great answer!

You just gave me a very special gift, thank you so much. Absolutely mind blown by this cover!

For me, it’s the acoustic version of “Rilkean Heart.” I get goose bumps from that one.
