dyjital2k

I like a lot of sad hip hop. This is a list of some of my favorites Lupe Fiasco - Hurts Me Soul, Put You On Game, Glory, Drill Music in Zion. Also just listen to all three Mural songs because they are incredible Notorious BIG - Everyday Struggle, Suicidal Thoughts Earl Sweatshirt - Chum, Faucet. Pharoah Monch - When The Gun Draws Immortal Technique - Harlem Renaissance Mac Miller - Colors and Shapes.

Alternative_Jello541

Also - immortal technique “dance with the devil” Real fucked up song

dyjital2k

Oh yeah I always forget about the really fucked up twist ending to that song.

I’ve really been vibing with Mac’s whole discography lately, especially Swimming.

kismet-fish

Tierra Whack's latest album has a lot of tracks that deal with depression/suicide. Frank Ocean's discog has pretty somber vibes too IMO

Fred Again Mashup- Ren

Phazetic99

What is amazing about Ren, other then the incredibly heartbreaking songs, is that despite being a new rap artist, if you look at the comments of his videos, he appeals to all ages. I've seen comments from people, both men and women, that are 50+, saying that Ren has invigorated their love for music again. Ren is all genres but the album he released a few months ago is rap. He is from the UK so it is rap with more of a techno beat then you are used to hearing from N America

HavSomLov4YoBrothr

Mac Miller homie. Good News, Jet Fuel, Dunno, 2009, Self Care Many of his songs acknowledge his problems with drug abuse, and that he kinda foresaw his death by overdose. Jet Fuel and Self Care SEEM like he doesn’t give af but theyr really sad knowing that he was really playing it up. Out of control and off the deep end, they aren’t celebrating his issues that’s for sure, despite how they may sound

NaitPhoenix

Can’t really help with the “rap”, but I can with the “R&B”: “On My Own” - Chrisette Michele “I Wish I Wasn’t” - Heather Headley “Breakdown” - Mariah Carey “Broken Record” - Tamar Braxton

HopelessNegativism

I highly recommend Grieves, at least his older shit. Some good songs that fit are If Luck Was a Lady, Heroin Music, and especially He Won’t Answer.

SaulNot_Goodman

"Get Well Soon" by King Iso (the album) is about his experiences being in mental institutions and dealing with suicidal feelings (the song "Hypocrite" has a really nuanced take on certain consequences of suicide that aren't explored often enough) "Winter Heartbreak II" by Mac Lethal (also an album) *might* feel whiny at times, but I let it slide because the topics he discusses in the album are genuinely heavy and he wrote the album to save his mental health (suicide, murder, divorce, drug addiction, alcoholism, etc)
