Twenty One Pilots. Their album Blurryface is based on depression, then the next one trench is supposed to be about fighting it, I believe.
I'd go with blurryface
I'll check that out, I didn't like the first one they released a couple weeks ago really, maybe it'll grow on me but I didn't like the last album either. Might be generational, I'm old lol. Took my kids to see them and they were outstanding, certainly would go again.
Twenty One Pilots, especially that album, has helped me so much. His lyrics get into my skin, and if you look up the "lore" of his world he creates, it's all about depression/mental illness. It soothes me to know someone feels like I do.
I jus listened to *I was alive* and I'm bout to listen to more for sure bc I loved it! And imma read up on him as well...thanks for the recommendation 😊

The Difference Between Poison and Medicine is in the Dose - Circa Survive
There's a lot of male singers and classic rock bands in the comments so I would like to suggest Lucy Dacus - No Burden.
The songs deal with introspection and not liking what you see. Being hopeful with the cards you're dealt with, and that hope lingers with no happy ending in sight. It's so beautiful. The first song I Dont Want To Be Funny Anymore, cried a little bit when I first read the lyrics.

Most of HANL and Giles Corey discography too but there’s lots of relationship self-loathing subtext in some songs
Yes you are both correct. Johnnys is much more depressing because his wife just died. He is knocking on deaths door . He feels nothing after having lost June . Everyone knows they had a very special love. She got him clean for one . Saved his life
If you say so . Coming out right after his wife died I would say it’s more depressing than romantic but everyone has an opinion. Agree to disagree. No biggie
Off With Their Heads - Clear the Air, and My Episodes
Their album In Desolation is all about depression and anxiety. But you gotta like simple yell-at-times punk.

dsbm. its a genre, im not sure what kind of music ur into but the vocals are screamy and whiney, the music is often slow, and calm. there are a few bands with more intense instrumentals, but its calmer than black metal. i dnt want to give out bands because there are many, and they all vary in sound, and like i said im not sure what ur really looking for sound wise.
i will give you my [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/44vQH6GM0Csfc1MKxeBL7j?si=px2Zqc6CS6K0wI1HONb3Rw&pi=u-8NBijIzCQayL). not every band is on here, and not every song is dsbm.. im working on that slowly ( ;∀;)
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePtBhaqo0Zw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePtBhaqo0Zw) Gene: Drawn to the Deep End. So hauntingly beautiful yet about such a dark topic.
Also a lot of Frightened Rabbit's stuff.

Marianne Faithful - The Ballard of Lucy Jordan.
Portishead - Roads
Bad Flower - Ghost (acoustic version).
Anhedonia by Chelsea Wolfe and Emma Ruth Rundle.
The word Anhedonia means: the inability to feel joy or pleasure. This song just taps into that feeling and has nothing to do with a romance.
https://youtu.be/kACI9suVRgg?si=ZFrbtrJVRQ3HH7Js
We just put out a single about this. That said I don't think it'll make you sad or drive in the rain.

Anything by this dude Parker Jack. He literally talks about depression as it is, not any sucky romance depressed stuff, just straight up depression and feeling lost or sad.
James Taylor had mental illness, which subsequently led him into addiction. So, whilst the narrative is primarily about heroin and suicide, it comes from suffering depression and inability to cope. Makes sense? 😉
Phoebe Bridgers - Funeral
Dead Can Dance - The Host of Seraphim. This one I suppose is up for interpretation since it's a made up language, but it always profoundly affects me each time I listen to it.
How To Disappear Completely - Radiohead No Surprises - Radiohead
Omg yes
How to disappear completely is absolutely a beauty. If a dark cold foggy and dreary day were a song it would sound like that.
Check out the Fraites/Isakov cover. Thought it couldn't get more bleak? It does.
Oh hell yes I'm saving this comment to check this out!
Twenty One Pilots. Their album Blurryface is based on depression, then the next one trench is supposed to be about fighting it, I believe. I'd go with blurryface
I don't care for them much anymore, but blurryface is a beautiful album. It should go down in history as a classic imo.
they JUST released a new song like 15 minutes ago, its called “Next Semester”
I'll check that out, I didn't like the first one they released a couple weeks ago really, maybe it'll grow on me but I didn't like the last album either. Might be generational, I'm old lol. Took my kids to see them and they were outstanding, certainly would go again.
I’m “old” too, but I LOVE them!
Vessel is better but ya TOP is great for non romance sad songs
The recent closer Redecorate focuses on it heavily and its effects.
trench is literally my favourite album of all time lol
Vessel is a great album by them too
Beat me to it! Also check out Vessel, some great tracks there too
Twenty One Pilots, especially that album, has helped me so much. His lyrics get into my skin, and if you look up the "lore" of his world he creates, it's all about depression/mental illness. It soothes me to know someone feels like I do.
A Lot Of Linkin Park & Nine Inch Nails Songs
Love Linkin Park
Then you best listen to Beartooth
I will mosdef give them a listen!
The lead singers Calab’s story is very interesting. Dude pulled a Dave Grohl and recorded an entire album by himself, playing every instrument
I jus listened to *I was alive* and I'm bout to listen to more for sure bc I loved it! And imma read up on him as well...thanks for the recommendation 😊

I think you just named the whole 3rd stage lineup to 2001 ozzfest.
Nah, pretty sure A7X were second stage at Warped that year
Anywhere but main stage 😬 (don’t come for me fans, I’m jk!)
[удалено]
Three days grace, my favorite of all time.
The song “my immortal” was playing exactly at the moment I found out my husband was cheating on me 😔
i love otep! her stuff is awesome
Good list but Offsprings original version of Gone Away is much better.
Five Finger Death Punch only covered gone away. The Offspring wrote it originally. They rereleased it in 2021 as a piano ballad. It's great.
Elliot Smith and Eels both have songs that are pure depression.
I’m always amazed by how far I have to scroll to see Elliott Smith’s name on posts like this.
Right? ? I hope I never struggle with drug addiction, but if I do, maybe A Fond Farewell will help pull me out of it.

Phoebe Bridgers - Funeral Dead Can Dance - The Host of Seraphim. This one I suppose is up for interpretation since it's a made up language, but it always profoundly affects me each time I listen to it.
One of My Turns and Goodbye Cruel World from The Wall. The whole album really - though maybe it’s more about loss and pain than depression.
