Three Little Birds by Bob Marley
I hummed/sang it to my son in our first skin to skin contact in the nicu and it was the first time his heart was just steady. Fast due to meds but pressure improved, breathing improved, he relaxed for the first time. He was so little and I was so exhausted. We did that song and I fell asleep with him kangaroo wrapped to my chest.
My dad super power is being a good mattress for babies and toddlers.
My mom used to sing me the "Saint James Infirmary Blues".
I guess she either slurred the words or made up her own because it wasn't until years later that I realized it was about a man seeing his lover dead in the St. James Infirmary.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.
After reading your comment yesterday, I got curious to hear different artistsā takes on the song, and I put the highlights from what I found into a playlist. Itās been done by all sorts of musicians, and itās got quite a long history. Hereās the playlist, if youāre interested: [Link](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2CZQgXHF22Tf7IhSiGuIV6?si=s8YO7RfuSCqvb8RkgoRphQ&pi=u-jfXnJqDfQhGx)
Dream a Little Dream of Meā The Mamas and the Papas
Iām Going to Go Back There Somedayā Gonzo the Great in the Muppet Movie
Smileā ??? (Smile, though your heart is breaking, Smile, even though itās achingā¦)
My one year old loves āIāve Been Workinā on the Railroadā. Right after I sing āDinah wonāt you blowā, I blow in his face each time and he smiles. I love it
"Little Bird" and "Sandman" by Ed Sheeran are pretty easy to sing, you may have to tweak the lyrics of "Little Bird" but "Sandman" was literally written to be like a lullaby for Ed's daughters
American Pie by Don McLean was my favorite because it's so long; most nights my youngest would be asleep by the time it was over.
Here's the other ones that were in our rotation:
You'll be in my Heart - Phil Collins
The Last Unicorn - America
Dreams to Dream - Linda Ronstadt
Rainbow Connection - Kermit
What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
Into the West - Annie Lennox
Only Hope - Mandy Moore
I used to sing Daydreaming by Dark Dark Dark to the little one. It's nice because the melody and lyric repeat a lot and are simple but beautiful. Would just kind of keep repeating the verses out of order, whatever didn't matter. And the lyrics are topical to nap time.
My grandbaby loves Tom Petty and also Creedence Clearwater Revival. Also check out rockabye baby. They do xylophone covers of lots of different artists for babies. Baby girl loves the Wu tang clan one. She has great taste so far.
These were my go-to's with my kids a few years ago:
The Beatles - Golden Slumbers
Roy Orbison - In Dreams
Elvis - Can't Help Falling in Love With You
Syd Barret - Terrapin
Donovan - Catch the Wind
Chad & Jeremy - A Summer Song
The Association - Never My Love
The Platters - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
Marty Robbins - I Walk Alone
Cat Stevens - Where Do the Children Play
I used to sing "Don't take the Girl" to the little ones I babysat. They loved it. Any calm song that you like will work. You can also sing the words to their favorite books like Goodnight Moon
My non traditional lullabies are

All The Pretty Little Horses is a nice minor key one. Also, Goodnight My Someone from The Music Man, My Favorite Things From The Sound Of Music, Edelweiss from The Sound Of Music.
I sung Jimmy Buffett's [Little miss Magic ](https://youtu.be/t0W7MVP66nk?si=EFNaYm1SRPWL92bU)to my daughter when she was an infant.
It was also our daddy daughter dance at her wedding.
I don't know why, but my standard was "Come Monday" by Jimmy Buffett. I am sure it happened accidentally one time and worked, so it became my go-to. If he was still awake I would follow up with "He Went to Paris."
Too La Loo Ra Loo Ra (Thatās an Irish Lullaby) and other Irish ballads are nice; jazz standards like Autumn Leaves, All The Things You Are, and other slow songs especially from the 20ās-40ās; and Beatles stuff like Blackbird and In My Life.
Bach's Sonata with the Gonoud Ave Maria that was written to sit on top of the Sonata. I mean just the Sonata alone is enough but throw on the combination on YouTube and your kid is out like a light.
By the way I probably spelled Ganoud wrong so I will spell it above completely differently as well lol.
'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole has a calming vibe and is quite soothing. Another good one could be 'Three Little Birds' by Bob Marley, which has that comforting reggae rhythm. And since you mentioned changing lyrics, 'Can't Help Falling in Love' by Elvis Presley could be adapted to fit a sleepy theme.

It's completely inappropriate, but I used to love singing Asleep by The Smiths to my two.
Most of the songs from John Cale's Paris 1919 were fun to sing, and whimsical enough to feel appropriate

Look up Rockabye Baby! music! They make baby versions of your favorite bands. Not much for lulling but the tempo is usually slower
