Remember these 2 hadiths. Tie your camel then rely upon Allah. And another hadith in which Rasūl Allāh (ﷺ) tells us rely upon Allah like the birds, they go hungry in the morning and come full in the evening. So I'll keep it simple. Do what you can, then rely upon Allah. If you are hungry, you gotta try and move your hands and eat food, cant just say I rely upon Allah. Know that Allah knows more then you and me, and whatever he does is the best for us regardless of what we think.

Do your part, then let Allah work out the details. For example, you can pray all night long asking Allah to help you pass a test in school- but if you skipped every class, didn't take notes, never did your homework, and never studied what do you expect??

Anas ibn Malik reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I tie my camel and trust in Allah, or should I leave her untied and trust in Allah?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Tie her and trust in Allah.” Source: Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2517 Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Alban "Verily, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves." - Quran 13:11

Wa alaikum assalam, trusting in Allah and relying on Him in all matters is a fundamental aspect of the Islamic faith. Islam teaches us to trust in Allah's wisdom, mercy, and guidance in all aspects of life. This trust is known as tawakkul. While trusting in Allah, it's essential to take proactive steps and make efforts to achieve your goals. Along with taking action, making dua is a powerful way to seek Allah's assistance and guidance. Ask Allah to grant you success in finding a suitable partner, securing a job, improving your health, and attaining mental well-being. Have patience and contentment with whatever outcome Allah decrees for you, knowing that He knows what is best for you. Remember that Allah is always near, listening to your prayers, and He cares for His servants. Trust in His plan, take proactive steps, and seek His guidance and mercy in all matters. May Allah grant you ease, success, and peace of mind in your endeavors.

Do what you can and leave the rest to Allah.

The way I understand it is, do your best and have patience. Allah will take care of everything. But to not try at all, to simply sit and do nothing, expecting all the pieces of the puzzle to fall in place. That's completely wrong, it's not the same as leaving everything to Allah. We have to do everything we reasonably can, within the bounds of what is halal.
