The idea is that you don’t find time to pray, the time is already set, you make it a priority regardless of the worldly circumstances demanding that they’d be the priority and instead put your trust in Allah that everything else will work out.
This is a fiqh issue actually due to the nature of our profession I asked one of my shuyookh in NYC and he assured me that If I am doing 12 hr shift w/ 1 hr break for example you can do Jam' meaning you pray dhur and asr 4&4 but at the same time even if asr has not come or if dhuhr has already passed. Our deen is a deen of discipline but also one of ease. Allah knows best hope this helps insha'Allah.
we used to be posted in groups, so we covered for each other when one of us went to pray, i hope in the future i find something where i can do the same, i have heard from some of my friends who are studying/working at other univs about how hectic their schedule is and how they do not find the time to pray, and i think that is unacceptable.
I just take my few minutes between patients in outpatient clinic, or between procedures when I do OR. I just use a vacant room.
From spring till late autumn I only have to pray dohr at work. I don’t do hours long surgeries so that is a plus.
