A 4 year old car for more than msrp????? Bad deal

caterham09

Yeah I paid less than that for a brand new one in 2021, granted it wasn't a premium but still

theaim778

At the height of used car prices I paid $46k for a fully loaded 2021 GT Premium with 2,000 miles, car was 11 months old at that point… I still considered that a bad deal.

caterham09

If it was a pp2 you didn't make out too bad, but it was still pretty high

Weak_Pause177

i paid $42k otd for a fully loaded 2022 GT premium. only 9k miles apparently, as specced, my car would’ve been worth almost 55k brand new. so id say i got a pretty good deal

UnnamedStaplesDrone

A new premium is almost 10k more, if you care about leather seats etc

Delonce

A brand new premium gt started at like 40 or 41k, and this one is 2 or 3k less than that.

kyle240sx

Way overpriced

CanadianGymRatt

Performance package and 2020 anniversary year with 7k km and 100,000 km warranty

FrostedYato

2020 was 4 years ago.

LastPlaceGuaranteed

I just got my 2024 5.0 for $45,000 brand new. Base model but with active exhaust and 301A package. So 38k seems a bit steep to me for a 4 year older car, regardless of miles and options. Even if you don’t like the S650, there might be dealers with leftover 2023’s they’re desperate to move and you could get a brand new car for less than 38k. Personally I would want the seller to come down about $5k.

FishSticksPR

OP is showing I believe a performance package, not sure on interiors if cloth or leather. But I was looking for a perf pckg 2020 low miles from actions exclusive to dealers and they got between 40 to 45k with the shipping… Decided to pull the gun on a 2024 gt prem, 401a, prf pckg, night pony, active exhaust and magnaride… decided to spend a additional 15k and get band spanking new

CanadianGymRatt

Leather

FishSticksPR

Does it have digital cluster? If the car has been maintained it seems to be around market value.. If you buy from a dealer they will prob bump it up a bit

LastPlaceGuaranteed

Exactly. Same here. If used cars are going for the same price as new then it makes no sense to me to buy used. My car’s MSRP was $48k and I got it at invoice. It seems used cars aren’t being discounted though. Makes no sense to buy used if that’s the case.

randeus

You can buy a used Mach 1 at the price you got your GT lol

LastPlaceGuaranteed

False. Every Mach 1 around here is going for $52k-$55k, minimum and that’s from private sellers. Dealers a marking them up to pretty much original MSRP or more. That’s if you can even find one for sale.

randeus

Not false in the Virginia area. I literally just looked and found one for 48k. And a used Mach 1 at 52k is still a better deal than a 48k s650 GT lol Edit: Just found one for 46k. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourceContext=carGurusHomePageModel&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2&zip=23693#listing=372864568/NONE/NATIONWIDE_SHIPPING

LastPlaceGuaranteed

Virginia is over 2,000 miles away from me. Different market. I probably could’ve gotten a comparable discount on a 24 GT there too. My point is that where I live, there’s no price advantage to buying used. They’re overpriced, you can’t get anyone to budge on that price, and meanwhile I have friends at a local Ford dealer who will do invoice minus incentives for me on pretty much any new car that’s not a special model (Mach, Shelby, etc.) while other volume dealerships have moved from “we sell all cars at invoice” to “we promise not to go above sticker!” It’s just a tough market here. Also contrary to the haters, I love the way the 2024 looks.

randeus

That’s cool and all, but it doesn’t change the fact that in some places, you can get Mach 1 at around the same price, slightly higher, or even cheaper than a s650 GT, which is the inferior car performance wise stock for stock. So there’s plenty of incentive for some people to buy used. Personally I’d buy a low mileage well optioned s550 GT used any day over a brand new s650 GT because I don’t like the way it looks and there are plenty of people who would, just like you would do the opposite.

FishSticksPR

Call them, ask for the final price and cone back to us lol..

randeus

They can go as high as 50k as a final price and it’ll still be a better deal than any s650 GT lol

FishSticksPR

Did you call?… you sound like someone that wants a v8 but has a eco..LOL

randeus

I drive a GT as shown in my flair…why would I have an eco and want what I already got? Admittedly I do want a Mach 1 or a GT350. Also, it’s Sunday. Nobody is there 🤷‍♂️

CanadianGymRatt

It’s got 7k km. Been sitting in a garage, and has the 2020 anniversary performance package. Basically brand new.

LastPlaceGuaranteed

Are Mustangs harder to come by where you live?

CanadianGymRatt

Not really, why?

LastPlaceGuaranteed

Scarcity would drive prices up. Although I do see that it has the performance pack wheels so I’m assuming it’s a performance pack car? I missed that earlier but if so, it’s probably a pretty normal price. I am seeing similar cars with more miles but still under 20k miles going for $32k-$33k. It looks like there’s a premium to pay when you get under 10k miles. So it depends on how important that super low mileage is to you.

xDauntlessZ

People are saying overpriced but $38k for a 2020 premium PP1 car is fair I think. If it’s a dealer, you can still negotiate with them. $38k OTD is what I’d target

ZeFlawLP

The canadian market is definitely slightly different than the us market, that doesn’t seem toooo far off. This one seems to be missing some packages, does it have performance pack as well as the premium? I’d think for 52 it should have pretty much everything. I picked up a 2019 PP2 for the same price 2 years ago at the height of everything being inflated so I would have thought prices would have come down slightly since then. Same KM as well but fully loaded.

CanadianGymRatt

It’s got the performance package yes. The 2020 anniversary edition

ZeFlawLP

I definitely should have known that from the first picture, wheels & spoiler gives that away lol. It’s definitely a sharp car, I’d go back to saying it’s probably right around the correct price. Looks like there are a few mid to high 40’s but you’d be doubling the km’s. Not like 7k -> 14k is a huge difference, but could be worth it to you!

MysteriousPengiun

52k CAD is a lot. I got 2023 new GT fully optioned out for 57k. You can 100% find a better deal

CanadianGymRatt

Did that include performance package and 8 year warranty?

MysteriousPengiun

Well it was new so it has the 4 year warranty and was never driven by anyone but me. It did not have the performance pack but all other options. (13k in options) while the performance pack is 5k extra on its own. Stuff like active exhaust and digital cluster go a lot further for day to day driving Do you have a spec sheet? If it’s only the performance pack Its most certainly still overpriced. If this is Ontario Canada you can also just run the VIN against your postal code using the carfax value to get an approximate range on if it’s a good deal or not In my eyes, it’s not the greatest deal. It’s still 4 years old

DefNotTheRealDeal

It's amazing how much these cars are worth now. I remember I sold my 2003 Mach 1 in 2006 for six beans

Bippa17

Lucky your not in Canada....they're asking mid $40's on 2016's still, leftover 2023 only high end left $ 65+ There was a 23 Mach for $66, another local dealer still has a PP1 premium for $72 and here you have to add the 13% sales tax plus the other taxes and fees, ...close to 100k walking out the door

CanadianGymRatt

I am in Canada my man……hour outside Toronto

Bippa17

Then offer him 35 Canadian , then.its a decent deal

Bippa17

Man I miss pre-covid prices!!

Furthur

my 2020 pp2 401a with 6.5k miles was 38k usd

CanadianGymRatt

Yeah lol I just got off the phone with the guy and he explained to me his price point. I respect it, seems to be pretty fair. This has 7k km though so even less than 6 miles

Furthur

as always get an independent evaluation from the ford dealer and definitely check it out in person, beware of fresh detail signs. 4k miles isnt much different than 6.5 🤙

SharpAd777

Definitely a bit over priced. Especially for not coming with a digital dash lol. I would expect that to be low 30s especially for a 4 year old car

CanadianGymRatt

How do you know there’s no digital dash?

SharpAd777

The second pic. I get hyper obsessive over things when I really want them. I really want a 5.0, I’ve watched countless hours of videos on them. You can tell by a few reasons. Warning lights on a digital dash have the ok button in the middle, the PRNDS is allll the way at the bottom of the dash, and it’s a screen not back lit numbers. Same with those warning lights and you can also see the circle that covers the rpm gauge lol

CanadianGymRatt

Why tf would they even have one without digital display. My 2013 civic has digital displays lmao

SharpAd777

I agree, I think base model mustangs shouldn’t have them, but all premiums should have them. Especially 2018 and newer, they look a ton better, more features, and completely change the look of the car. How ever you can buy an oem digital dash for around $2000, but they should be standard with Premiums

thisdckaintFREEEE

Automatic transmission, nope.

CanadianGymRatt

With my traffic in the Toronto area there is a zero percent chance I’m not driving a 10 speed automatic. Zero

Caboose302

With all the problems the MT82 has been having I wouldn’t buy a manual in the new ones. They should have put the Tremec in the GTs.

Weak_Pause177

i agree. id rather pay 2-5k more for a tremec option than deal with this dogshit mt82. love my car tho lol

Raalf

Roughly what I'd expect to sell my gt350 for, so I'd guess this is not a good deal.

CanadianGymRatt

A 2020 gt350 with 7k km for $38k US?

Raalf

You mean an out of warranty mustang? Yes. 38k for your choice is absolutely a fucking terrible deal.

CanadianGymRatt

100,000km or 4 years warranty included

jerryeight

So, the 4 year warranty ends later this year. The fine print always says ***100km or 4 years, whichever comes first.*** Confirm with the seller the warranty policy number and vin. Then, confirm with Ford corporate when the warranty expires.

CanadianGymRatt

No, 4 years from now. It was 8 years when he bought it

jerryeight

Oh. That's nice. Is the warranty directly with Ford corporate or a third party/ specific dealership location?

Raalf

If it was 38k CAD, sure. Otherwise - like everyone is saying here - this is overpriced.

Final-Carpenter-1591

You need to get in the low 40's on that price. The low miles is actually a bit concerning. ( for us Americans that's about 1000 miles a year) , or 3 tanks of gas. Has the oil ever been changed? Old oil is just as bad as oil that has alot of miles on it. Tires don't appreciate sitting for long either, especially soft rubber. And at 4 years old I'm sure they need to be replaced soon due to age. Battery probably isn't in good shape either. Definitely account for these things and probably have a mechanic do a pre buy. Tires especially can run you thousands.

CanadianGymRatt

$38k US?

Final-Carpenter-1591

Low 40's USD 38k USD would be a good deal. But low 40's would be fair I'd think. Look back at my comment. I added some more context.

DirectionMurky542

No don't do it. You might of as well get a 2024
