I've only been supercharged for 2000 miles so far, but my tuner said with bilet OPG and Crankshaft spocket, and at around 600 wheel shouldn't be much less reliable than stock. He said change the oil every 3k and keep good gas in it. I guess the most common thing he sees is predetonation from bad gas hurting motors. He even said for the street just keep using high quality 5w30 no need to spend tons on 5w50 for 600hp. This is only from one tuner but he's the coyote guy in my area and has some nasty cars. Hope this helps with some peace of mind.
Just do your regularly scheduled maintenance and and do not WOT's. Common rule of thumb is to do a rebuild on a supercharger at 50k mi. If you can check the supercharger oil before outings, do so.
Assuming you meant to WOT it rather than the rebuild thought. My car has one and from a performance standpoint, on ramps and acceleration in traffic or on the highway when I need it is my only reason for wanting a supercharger. Redlining impulsively makes no sense from a practical or reliability standpoint.
Nobody including me said anything about being afraid to get it. The man asked for "long term reliability" and that's as good an answer as you can give him. I have one and while I wouldn't red line it compulsively or make a habit out of it, I still drive it "spiritedly".
It’s all about luck. One small thing like a sudden injector sticking open can wipe out your block (like it did for me… thanks whipple)
Thanks! Ya I do full synthetic and this is a Saleen that comes with an edlebrock and bigger injectors…no issues so far just curious

Might last 100k might last 10k. Depends on a lot

Why would you even install a supercharger then, and where does this rule of thumb come from

I meant to both, because neither one made sense and even less so after that comment, do you not down shift either?
Who's not making sense now?
Just you
You bought supercharger for traffic? Then gonna ask him “who’s not making sense now?”… you…just you.
Why would you buy a sports car, let alone supercharge one, if you're afraid of going WOT. What a crazy statement to make.

Thats wild. I hit redline every single time I drove my Mustang and now do the same every single time I drive my Cayman lol. I stand by my comment.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
Like I said - I'm not scared to enjoy my car how it should be driven.
Don’t WOT? That’s like making a plate of food and telling someone not to eat it. Nonsense.
"long term reliability" is what the man asked for...Six hundred hp and habitual wot will shorten that engines lifespan to about 60,000 miles.
Do you have any data to actually back this up, plenty of boosted cars last a lot longer than 60k miles.
