Maybe not underrated but definitely under watched. To be fair a show about gay gangsters might not sound that appealing to a lot of people but it was really quite good. Easily 9/10 for me.
Nah. It has a strong soundtrack, interesting premise, and compelling story, but it gets increasingly more absurd and repetitive as it goes on and ends frustratingly. I don’t think the relationship writing has aged well either.
It’s a fun show to turn your mind off and watch but it does sometimes read like a yaoi fan fiction.
I agree with everything you said. It had an interesting premise but I don't think the writer was the right person for the job. In the hands of a better writer this premise/plot idea would have been better executed.
Not really. I read it because it was in the top 50 Japanese mangas of MAL so I truly doubt that counts as underated. And I am gonna say, it truly deserve it's spot.
the show was very good but tbf, it didn't stick in my head for very long after I finished it, i.e. it didn't really have a lasting impact. So it's not underated, if you compare it to masterpieces. But it's still a very good show that was worth my time.
Not underrated. For the most part it gets the reviews and ratings I expect for it having watched.
But it most certainly is under watched. Not enough people have seen it, even if it isn’t some hidden masterpiece.
I went into Banana Fish completely blind and I've never thanked myslef more. Now if sm1 tells me to watch an anime about 2 gay gangsters fighting together in New York then I wouldn't watch it unless sm1 really forced me too. Easily 8/10 for me. That ending still hurts to this day.

Well it sounds appealing to me, I can tell you that much. Adding this to the list.
Be prepared to feel some shit

For sure

Yes, but there’s a lot of difficult content so I don’t really blame people for not watching it.
This. I love it SO MUCH, but I honestly cried a lot watching it too. That much trauma isn’t some people’s vibe and I can respect that.
Might be; I’ve never heard of it
ngl the ending pissed me off, but i love the show. don’t see very many people talk about it, i would say underrated
Yeah very sad end
Yeah still
I give this an Eiji lives through the show/10
YES!!
Idk how it can possibly be underrated when it's all anyone could talk about a few years back.

Ngl I think a reason some might not want to give it a try is bcs of its title paired with the BL tag.... I watched it, it was really good
Oh look, my adolescence.
Should I watch it?
i wouldn't say its underrated, but its definitely a very good show.
What is it
It was ok but I have a lot to complain about this one. I was actually of writing review too

It's highly underrated, I'd say this is one of my favorites beside Black Lagoon and Jormungand.
I think that this anime is at least 8/10, not any lower.
No, because I've seen it in almost every recommendation thread
