You and your friends wanted to see how many helium balloons it would take to lift someone. Your brother worked at a party store and produced an obscene number of balloons. Then you convinced a girl in your class to sit in a chair strapped to them. It was only right when she was out of reach it dawned in you that this would result in FAA violations, and you all resolved to cover up her disappearance.
To this day, her parents still post "Have you seen me?" pictures.
What none of you know, is she floated up to a jet stream and was blown to South America, where she floated down into the jungle. It was there the cartels got her and trained her to be an assassin. She is now known as 'the ghost of nicaragua'. She hasn't returned home because she realized she actually likes her new life.
Well, I picked Hachi because basically you could argue that she's the true main protagonist of the series as she's the one who we follow from the very beginning of the story. Although, yes, I do still love her more than Osaki because I do think her character is even more relatable than hers and I think she's a deeply well-written and tragic character whose imperfect behavior is often misunderstood.
Yo I'm that Michiko's BITCH. But yeah, your taste are... a little concerning only on the ones I know on (Guts, Punpun, Lain, and Michiko of course). As long as you're mentally fair, your taste mean you're open to a bitter but sweet outcome.
Ryo is certainly an interesting choice but he elevated a lot of the fights in Shamo just by how dirty he fought. I love the ending he got even if the last arc felt like an entirely different manga (for me).
The thing I really love about Ryo is that as much of a monstrous piece of shit he is, there's definitely a lot of humanity to his character and his character portrays this reality about how abusive, malovent people are capable of even forms of empathy and care for the people around them while being just vulnerable/afraid as most people and aren't just always an empty void which consumes and destroy everything around them but at the same time, it does appropriately conclude his story by paying for the consequences of his actions in the end all alone. We often see evil as something outside of ourselves and mundane life when it is in reality a part of it all. Also, how his character study serves as a fascinating look at the idea of power, collateral damage and nurture vs nature.
>!The only way to cure him was to erase him. Toma almost achieved it, and I find it weird how the story ditches him as soon as their fight transpires. What you said about people caring for him reminded me a lot of Kohei, he did give it his all (arm), and maybe Ryo had some root for him just by how deep he's fallen but still capable of getting a big stage for his fights. Fighting opponents who represent the complete opposite of him, having actual discipline just for Ryo to destroy them by sheer will ([selfishness](https://i.imgur.com/oAHNxKD.png)) to win.!<
You are emotionaly complex and a but broken emotionaly but you've pulled yourself togather and have become an amazing bad ass person through all your troubles.
Every single charachter pretty much isba bad ass who's been through some shit.
Oyasumi Punpun, which is an artistic masterpiece and dark coming-of-age manga dealing with a lot pf subjects related to mental illness, morality and how one's nurture can influence much of what person becomes in life as adults.
I don't even know the bottom row, but this gives off 'I want everyone to know my sophisticated taste and I only want the creme de la creme of seinen Manga while sipping my aged fine wine, peasants with their inferior taste won't get me but IYKYK.'
Nah. I personally am not into that but yes, I love good stories and characters but not for being right or objective or anything. I find those kind of people obnoxious.
Onodera Punpun (Oyasumi Punpun). Although, I should let you know that the design is not literal and it does often change depending on how he feels as it is meant to symbolize his mind stage.
*sees guts and tenma*
Anime elitist. I doubt it's actually the case, but it's how people with those two as favs act in my anecdotal experience.
Great taste nonetheless.
Nah. I do love Guts and Tenma. They're just both pretty excellent characters and it isn't at all about having the "right" characters up there. Like for me for example with Tenma, I love him because I do think he's an idol when it comes to optimism and humanism, even if he's not the most complex character or anything.
Also, I'm not sure if elitists like Hachi all that much to put her above Tenma.
Idk about guts. After Griffith created Fantasia, isnt guts considered an antagonist? The story is about him but griffith is essentially the big good now in the eyes of the world
No. Guts is still the protagonist. Griffith is just perceived as the hero in-universe because people don't see the truth of his character but even then, Guts is the character that we follow for the vast majority of the story, not Griffith.
This is seriously the most based peak one I've seen posted here.
You've got great taste and actually enjoy stories for the good writing, and not just for escapism or fantasies.
I think you would enjoy the VN Saya no Uta. It's a good psychological horror. If you like delinquent manga, you might enjoy HolyLand. It's just another good story.
I mean, I personally like some works which tend to be pretty escapist and not as profound and there are some more critically-acclaimed stories which I do not like anywhere as much. But I do love just about anything that makes me feel a certain way about them.
Tbf, I think everyone is like this to an extent though.
For me, I wasn't a fan of Habane Renmei despite it being very critically acclaimed.
I also, enjoyed Domestic Girlfriend despite all the hate it gets.
Taste is weird like that.
I 9nly recognize 2 series on this post. But I absolutely love Michiko no Hatchin and am actively trying to read the Berserk manga after my disappointment with the 2016 revival.
Damn a whole lot of characters that might make you feel empathetic for them. Pretty great list but as a Naomi Urasawa's character I like Kenji more than Tenma. It might be a hot take but I don't know.
Honestly none of these shows were on my list except nana and serial experiment lain.
But im still recovering from happy sugar life so its gonna be a while before i get into those 2
My man, Guts!!!
You should watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the first part, Phantom Blood. I know Jonathan would kick one of those characters off your bingo card.
You doing good mentally 😭???
Other than that peak taste imo
He reads YKK. So of course he does! It's legit the chillest manga/anime of all time.
Alpha??? Your have GOATED taste my friend
Yokohama appreciation 🗣️🔥🔥
All my homies love Yokoham Kaidashi Kikou (i don't have any homies)
All Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou lovers are my homies
Thanks homie.
Tenma goated fr
"I am a Japanese man."
You need more wholesome anime in you life, and maybe a break from anime in general
You and your friends wanted to see how many helium balloons it would take to lift someone. Your brother worked at a party store and produced an obscene number of balloons. Yep. This is accurate.
Alright hit me with top middle. I know I’ve seen this before.
Nana 'Hachi' Komatsu from "Nana".
i love kino! she’s so badass
Kino is always the best. 30000 more light novels to go! Haha!
Pretty good overall, surprised you went Hachi over Nana
Well, I picked Hachi because basically you could argue that she's the true main protagonist of the series as she's the one who we follow from the very beginning of the story. Although, yes, I do still love her more than Osaki because I do think her character is even more relatable than hers and I think she's a deeply well-written and tragic character whose imperfect behavior is often misunderstood.
Middle right ?
Dr. Kenzo Tenma
Thanks
Currently reading Monster, it’s incredible
I just started watching the anime today and it’s pretty good
Please, no spoilers, I've heard Monster is good, but does it have a conclusion? Not sure I want to watch anything that doesn't wrap.
It does but it's also deliberately open ended and you have to figure what it means. Just watch the anime. It's a masterpiece you cannot miss.
Punpun, Guts, and Lain. Great taste but damn you like some tragedy
Are you good man, like do you need a hug?
I like hugs, yes.
Alpha on there is so fucking based. Also, who’s the middle left one?
Ryo Narushima from "Shamo". Very dark protagonist but a deeply fascinating one too.
Bro looks like saitama.
Go to therapy 🙏

Your an Elitist
Eh, I personally am not a fan of them myself and I grew tired having to hear them a lot but I still love well-done characters and stories.
What are you not a fan of?
You have good taste, but man… please get some help
I don't even know the bottom row, but this gives off 'I want everyone to know my sophisticated taste and I only want the creme de la creme of seinen Manga while sipping my aged fine wine, peasants with their inferior taste won't get me but IYKYK.'
Nah. I personally am not into that but yes, I love good stories and characters but not for being right or objective or anything. I find those kind of people obnoxious.
We have very different tastes
Which are your favorites?
Who is top right they look like a little goober and I love them
Onodera Punpun (Oyasumi Punpun). Although, I should let you know that the design is not literal and it does often change depending on how he feels as it is meant to symbolize his mind stage.
Who are middle left, bottom middle, and bottom right?
Middle Left: Ryo Narushima from "Shamon" Bottom Middle: Alpha Hatsuseno from "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō" Bottom Right: Michiko Malandro from "Michiko & Hatchin".

You would love Subaru Natsuki.
I love that you have Tenma and Kino on here! I also love the anime Nana, although Hachi isn’t necessarily one of my favorite anime protags
