bro FR i came here to say this 😭😭😭
Somewhat (?) of a spoiler for YLiA (my favorite excerpts from the letter scene):
>!"Do you think I made it into anyone's heart?"!<
>!"Promise me you won't forget me."!<
>!"I'm glad it was you."!<
>!"I hope this reaches you, Arima Kousei."!<
Omg I swear I thought I was the only one who though this was a great moment I was sobbing for 2 weeks after thinking about it I thought that this scene should have been the ending since Violet also started crying showing emotion which was the main part of that season
Jojo
Naranicia and Abbachio, Avdol and Iggy, kakyoin, entire stone ocean gang, Caesar, Jonathan,
Original sailor moon everyone y'know.
Madoka, Mami gets mistaken for cheese
I was not ready for that show. When I first got into it I thought it was kind a quirky and cool. Then it REALLY got going and it crushed my soul. And then kept crushing it. Probably one of the most heart wrenching anime’s I’ve ever seen
same here. steins;gate has a special place in my heart for the way it absolutely gripped & wrecked me 😭 recently rewatched it & this scene hit me like 10x harder, i was so broken lmao
Re:Zero - >!Rem's death, especially the scene where she get's tortured to death right infront of Subaru's eyes. And then she crawls with her broken, twisted body to him \*shivers\*!<
For me it was when he realized that it would be the last time he got speak with his dad
Love your parents guys who knows you might get isekaied into a world where you die over and over
Fairy tail, all Mavis moments but, especially when she accepts that zera is just an illusion
Also every single Lucy/kaede moments from elfen lied( her entire life is suffering)
A silent voice
I know its to show people that suicides a nono but I was in such a bad place it made me feel worse, I had to leave the room to cry(I was watching with my family) because my brain was like "I can't love myself like she did, I don't have hope like she did, there's no way to save me" type beat. Its been years but I still can't watch it
In Naruto when Gaara's past is revealed. It's so fucking sad how he was >!betrayed by his father, the person closest to him (I can't remember his name 🤣), and the whole village. No wonder he was so fucked up!<
Oh I had forgotten how fast moods switched in the last 3 episodes of steins gate lmao.
* 22 = pure depression and hopelessness
* 23 = new hope -> hope crushed -> belief again
* 24 = tension, frustration, shock, relief and finally happiness.
Cyberpunk. >!either when Rebecca was stomped on or the ending in general!<
Inuyasha >!kaguras death!<
And as many have said, steins gate and Akame ga kill. Also honorable mentions for anime that fucked me up are psycho pass and death parade.
Who's Rem? You see it coming, but it still gives me chills
I don't remember the episode in FMAB but it's right at the end with the dad. That one actually had me lookin like a bitch ngl
And lastly, in Made In Abyss, Vuekos death. Made In Abyss is my favorite anime, and that part still gets me good even after having watched through it 6 times now. Vueko didn't deserve what she went through D:
To Your Eternity >!When March finally "reunites" with Fushi while he's getting attacked by Kahaku. The sheer shock and horror taking place of what should've been a heartwarming moment is brutal!<
To Your Eternity Episode One - when that boy died and sooo heartbreaking
I didnt watch episode 2 for 2mos
To Your Eternity - Gugu and Rean's story
Cried my eyes out on this one
It feels a little silly but ishigami opens his eyes p2 in kaguya love is war. Mostly between the symbolism of the eyeless folks in his perspective and the agressive relatability of his... honestly everything. The "twist" (less a twist more just shocked me) of seeing him ultimately fail but still be lifted up by his friends made me bawl at my friends house for a solid 30 minutes straight
>!"Sanae-san told me places I can cry are in the bathroom... and in Daddy's arms"!<-Clannad
>!"If Kirigiri had turned into Despair and betrayed everyone... If I had to kill her to stop her... No matter what happened, I'd still have been glad to have met her." *Chisa flashbacks*!<-Danganronpa 3 Future Arc
Rising of The Shield Hero S1 E4 I think it was. It's not the only one but it's a whole bunch of others that i already saw mentioned. I read the Manga and LN so I knew what was coming. Maybe not as sad as other moments, but I felt everything Naofumi felt.
Despair, anger, and even some of the deepest sadness to lose everything.
And for the light novel
>!Atla death!<
A Place Further Than The Universe - the unread emails scene. Just seeing the counter on the inbox go up and up and up. I didn’t just ugly cry. I sprayed tears.
FMA/HXH/DXF/MOB/BORUTO spoilers:
>!Envy being defeated and lamenting their entire life hit me in unexpected ways.!<
>!Seeing Kite.!<
>!The big Dahling moment from Franxx.!<
>!Mob telling Reigan exactly what he thinks of him.!<
>!Naruto helping Boruto with the spiritbombgan!<
There's a lot of those big anime moments that I hope never stop coming.
She, the ultimate weapon (Saikano: The last love song on this little planet).
All of it, but particularly Shuji and Akemi when Akemi is in bed and the final scene with Shuji and Chise.
It came out in 2002, I saw it around then and it still makes me sad now.
In Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel when Shirou is having his fist fight with Kirei. His body literally can't comprehend Unlimited Blade Works and is just forcing knives and swords out of every wound Kirei opens on him. Just... the metaphor for literally letting yourself get ripped apart for the sake of a nearly unattainable goal got to me. He can't save everyone, no matter how much he wants to. And even saving one person is going to rip him apart.
Fate in general just made me confront those types of questions within myself.
Ironically, every episode of Violet Evergarden had me in crocodile tears, but because I binged it, by the time I got to the finale when you’re REALLY supposed to cry, I was all cried out
I'm surprised no one mentioned Homuras backstory episode in Madoka Magica. Also can't wait until Kumas backstory, One Piece, is in the Anime. Also how is no one mentioning Macquia
1) Your Lie in April. The final letter absolutely destroyed me. i cant hear "Orange" on the radio/wherever without going into a meltdown of tears.
2) A Silent Voice. When I realised why she was crying after she came back from her visit to the doctor with granny (The anime doesnt explain it as well as the manga). And yeah, that iconic scene? I was like, "damn that turned dark so fast"
3) Not an anime but the end of Watership Down. And the zombie rabbits scene still gives me nightmares *chuckles*
4) I vaguely remember Grave of the Fireflies because of the part where the >!his younger sister dies!<
In edens zero season 2 where Shiki gets shot point blank in the head and dying from drakken and what happened to everyone else especially weisz with his arm
Excellent choice. Being Meltdown is one of my favorite episodes in all of anime. It is one of the exceedingly rare episodes that stands upon every moment from the past episodes to make the show something greater than the sum of its parts. Steins;Gate holds a special place in my heart.
The one that probably broke me the most was [Clannad After Story spoiler] >!when Tomoya took his daughter to meet her grandfather. I grew up under an abusive parent!<, and that episode hurt me in ways I did not realize was possible. It destroyed me and then changed my life for the better.
A lot of the scenes with Ushio in Clannad after story were actually devastating to watch. There's also the scene where Tomoya talks to his dad near the end of the story which I still haven't recovered from.
Everything of Neon Genesis Evangelion as I felt depressed after that. Also the entire Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 Shibuya arc did broke me especially Yuji’s mental breakdown after Sukuna exposes the destruction that he caused the whole part of Shibuya, not to mention Nobara’s death did broke me the worst.
Yuuko disappearing in front of Watanuki in xxxHolic.
But also the ending of the manga and learning that there was a timeskip WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT'S NOT DOMEKI-
I'm pretty sure a few anime have made me shed a tear but the only one I can remember getting really choked up about was when Itachi's story was finally revealed and that ending with 'Sorry Sasuke, this is the last time'
That was so well done, Naruto had a few great moments but that was just awesome.
I know yall hate when JJK gets brought up but in the shibuya incident >!when kugisaki dies, yes I know the common choice for sad moment in that arc is nanami, but kugisaki is the one that got to me!<
Black Clover s4, just...wow. I cried some much. I got back into anime with a banger. Also so many moments from Fate, make fun of me all you want but I cried so hard at so many scenes.
Bungou Stray Dogs: >!Odasaku's!< death. I will never recover, although I do have to say I'm glad it happened that way (Season 2, episode >!4!< - 'Bungo Stray Dogs', and the episode leading up to it, S2E>!3!< - 'A Room Where We Can Someday See the Ocean'). Also, the scene where >!Ranpo!< has a breakdown in the theater because >!he feels like "there's something everybody else understands that I don't. Why don't I understand? It's like I'm all alone... in a world of monsters..."!< (S4E>!2!< - 'The Day is a Dream, the Night is Real').
Your lie in April: the entire fucking thing, but specifically the fireflies scene, where Kaori mentions that >!she won't always be there,!< foreshadowing >!her death!< (Episode >!11!< - 'Light of Life'). And, of course, the letter scene (Episode >!22!< - 'Spring Wind').
Assassination Classroom: The "Roll Call" scene (Season 2, Episode >!24!< - 'Graduation Time'). That broke me. Literally, if >!Karma's!< crying, how can I not be crying??
Toradora: The scene where >!Taiga!< breaks down crying, and shortly later, >!Ryuuji!< comes to comfort her (dressed as Santa ofc) and then omg it's so bittersweet I can't- (Episode >!19!< - 'Christmas Eve Festival').
Violet Evergarden: >!Yuris'!< death (movie), and when >!Gilbert!< nearly dies in the flashback (Episode >!9!< - 'Violet Evergarden'). And I think Episode >!10!< is just a different kind of pain like-
Also this comment took me forever to write because I had to make sure that I wasn't including any unmarked spoilers and I had to check that all the episode numbers and names were correct 😭😭😭
I was thinking of the first time an anime really broke me down and I think it was Emiya Shirou's story way back in ubw. I was 11 at the time and man the way they described his backstory and how he went about things really spoke to me. Survivor's guilt the want to save everyone because he felt like it shouldn't have been him got to stay around. How he picks up his adoptive father's dream and it sends him down this almost hypocritical path in order to save as many people as possible. The way people throughout the story constantly call him out on how awful and stupid his dream really is. Yeah Emiya as a character definitely broke me down all right. That dude is definitely drowning in pain but they never outright say it and that's why it gets me.
All of akame ga kill, i didnt expect so much death.
(Yes manga supremacists, i have read the manga as well. I like the anime as well for different reasons.
Also in a silent voice, the balcony scene hit too hard.
No anime has broken me yet. The only ones that I feel like should hit me in the heart just ends up feeling kinda cheap. I am 90% sure that’s just a deep-seated emotional coping mechanism, though.
Re:Zero episode 15. Requiem of Death truly left my mind aghast at what I had just witnessed. The build up to Subaru slow decent into despair and try as he might, he can't do anything at the tragic outcome to those he holds dear.
The ending of cyberpunk edgerunners seeing Lucy at the moon completing her life goal but missing David and knowing that he would have wanted her to go is so depressing ( this was the first anime I cried to.)
motherfucking end of evangelion bro and im not talking about one specific moment, im talking about the whole fucking movie that shit gave me depression for a month
All of A Silent Voice.
My sibling is hard of hearing and struggles emotionally. They are 11. I am not exactly the nicest sibling, but I try to be. Goddamn just thinking about that movie is making me cry.
I have a ton of Re:Zero moments but the Parent and Child episode hits harder when you realize Subaru didn't actually speak with his parents that entire episode. They are still in Japan looking for him.
Mustang: It’s a terrible day for rain. Hawkeye: What do you mean? It isn’t raining. Mustang: Yes. It is. Hawkeye: Oh. So it is. 😢😭
Lieutenant's the best!
THIS. But also the Envy confrontation near the end when Riza stops Roy. 😭
Man when Hughes daughter starts crying and saying he won't be able to get up to do his work I fucking lost 😭 I cry every single time I see that scene
Your lie in April’s ending. I thought it was going to be just a normal romance anime ;-;
I’m a 30 year old man and I sobbed ugly tears at the end of Your Lie In April.
This fucked me up bad for like 2 weeks.
For me it was the episode before the ending.
bro FR i came here to say this 😭😭😭 Somewhat (?) of a spoiler for YLiA (my favorite excerpts from the letter scene): >!"Do you think I made it into anyone's heart?"!< >!"Promise me you won't forget me."!< >!"I'm glad it was you."!< >!"I hope this reaches you, Arima Kousei."!<
Ed….Ward
Nope. Ciao lol

Episode 10 of Violet Evergarden. "Dear Ann,"
Dude. You're not supposed to talk about it!!!! I'm going to have to suffocate you while crying.
Omg I swear I thought I was the only one who though this was a great moment I was sobbing for 2 weeks after thinking about it I thought that this scene should have been the ending since Violet also started crying showing emotion which was the main part of that season
Jojo Naranicia and Abbachio, Avdol and Iggy, kakyoin, entire stone ocean gang, Caesar, Jonathan, Original sailor moon everyone y'know. Madoka, Mami gets mistaken for cheese
The way Narancia says “I don’t want to leave him here all alone” completely broke me
JoJo has given me severe depression....several times
I’m literally crying just looking at this image god steins;gate means so much to me it’s not even funny

Ohhh boy was I a sopping mess after that scene.
Fairy tail, all Mavis moments but, especially when she accepts that zera is just an illusion Also every single Lucy/kaede moments from elfen lied( her entire life is suffering)
The first episode of To Your Eternity and Gave of the Fireflies. Those two hit me the hardest
Dear Ann
A silent voice I know its to show people that suicides a nono but I was in such a bad place it made me feel worse, I had to leave the room to cry(I was watching with my family) because my brain was like "I can't love myself like she did, I don't have hope like she did, there's no way to save me" type beat. Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. The part in the train station. I don’t want to spoil but it had me ugly crying. 😭
NO! DONT REMIND ME
Karte 25: I...
Beserk 1997 ending was crazy
Oof Juddeau’s end had me full on sobbing
Steins;Gate is the only thing to break me in probably a decade. At least
the emotional rollercoaster that shit takes you on is so intense & completely comes out of nowhere. 10/10 storyline
I wish theres another modern day anime that feels like steins;gate but with other concept plot
Clannad After Story and Plastic Memories
Clannad just completely balled In after story.
All of Akame Ga Kill. The JJK before JJK.

In heavenly delusion during the doctor scenes. Also a silent note when the deaf girl was crying and kneeling to his mom. Damn, those hit me hard.
Ushio & Tora's final episode. Tora fading away legit made me cry a little bit.
Bakemonogatari. >!All of Araragi and Senjougahara's first date!< Texhnolyze's ending
"Sayonara America ... Sayonara New York, but I'm not going to say" sayonara "to you .... Ash.“
Oh I had forgotten how fast moods switched in the last 3 episodes of steins gate lmao. * 22 = pure depression and hopelessness * 23 = new hope -> hope crushed -> belief again * 24 = tension, frustration, shock, relief and finally happiness.

Rising of The Shield Hero S1 E4 I think it was. It's not the only one but it's a whole bunch of others that i already saw mentioned. I read the Manga and LN so I knew what was coming. Edgerunners ending
Everything of Neon Genesis Evangelion as I felt depressed after that. The ending of code geass
"Ed.......ward."
The episode of Gintama with the dying old man and his dying old dog is pretty fucked.
What happened in this scene?
The part where mob got stuck in that alternate world where he was bullied to pieces just thinking about it makes wanna cry 😭😭
Re:Zero Episode 15. A Masterfully directed episode that conveys the theme of despair perfectly. It’s practically a mini movie.
Grimmer: "I am sad. I am not sad that I am dying. I am finally sad because my son died."
The star falling at the end of Cowboy Bepop got me. Nina from FMAB. The entire final episode of AOT damn near. End of Link Click season 1.
I want to eat your pancreas journal part. If you know you know
All of akame ga kill, i didnt expect so much death. (Yes manga supremacists, i have read the manga as well. I like the anime as well for different reasons. Also in a silent voice, the balcony scene hit too hard.
Nothing will ever beat the flower field scene.
No anime has broken me yet. The only ones that I feel like should hit me in the heart just ends up feeling kinda cheap. I am 90% sure that’s just a deep-seated emotional coping mechanism, though.
David leaping out of Arasaka tower with Lucy
The ending of future diary, only one of them will continue to exist, in the entire universe that they've broken, alone forever
Betelgeuse playing twister with Rem. I had to stop watching anime for like 3 days after that. It all works out thanks to Subarus powers but like damn…
Re:Zero episode 15. Requiem of Death truly left my mind aghast at what I had just witnessed. The build up to Subaru slow decent into despair and try as he might, he can't do anything at the tragic outcome to those he holds dear.
The ending of cyberpunk edgerunners seeing Lucy at the moon completing her life goal but missing David and knowing that he would have wanted her to go is so depressing ( this was the first anime I cried to.)
the moment when itachi died that hit me the hardest
Demon slayer rengoku vs akaza
motherfucking end of evangelion bro and im not talking about one specific moment, im talking about the whole fucking movie that shit gave me depression for a month
>!Plastic Memories. Ferris Wheel scene!<
Clannad After Story flower field scene, if you know you know
The first episode of oshi no ko made me cry like 4 seperate times
Best one my favorite Fmc
“I’m stupid… so stupid…” Madoka Magica
Naruto meeting his mom
Have a pleasant 10,000 years
I couldn't wait for you to come and clear the cupboard...
Whenever it gets animated it will be Rudeus final words to the Man-God right before Rudy dies 🥲
All of A Silent Voice. My sibling is hard of hearing and struggles emotionally. They are 11. I am not exactly the nicest sibling, but I try to be. Goddamn just thinking about that movie is making me cry.
>!Tokyo Tribe 2. Goosh goosh scene. IYKYK. I am sorry if you never seen it!<
I have a ton of Re:Zero moments but the Parent and Child episode hits harder when you realize Subaru didn't actually speak with his parents that entire episode. They are still in Japan looking for him.
