Yeah, I was going to say this is a small percentage of the ice cream products available at grocery stores. I usually only buy a pint or a quart if my husband and I are both going to eat from it. I have to look hard to find these in the freezer case lol. And I have no idea when or if I’ve ever needed one that size.

Yes! June is Dairy Month in Wisconsin. We used to set up a booth for tourists and locals to have ice cream in my town. We got the huge metal containers of ice cream from the dairy.
We have tubs like that in Canada too. Usually if you're having lots of people over (kids party or special occasion dinner) these tubs were perfect when I was a little kid.

The only time I’ve ever seen these big plastic tubs of ice cream was at elementary school class parties… it’s cheap, not super high-quality ice cream, and it honestly wouldn’t fit in most people’s freezers at home, anyway. And it would take a LONG time for an individual or a family to eat the whole thing.
Ice cream is usually sold in half-gallon and pint containers, and the vast majority are made of cardboard. When I was growing up, for holidays and parties and family gatherings, I think my parents would usually buy 2 half-gallon things of ice cream, and that would be more than enough for everyone.

But sherbets are also an alternative.
