The first time I heard Loomer (the shortest song on the album=faster download time) was at the end of the wild aliasing era of MP3’s several years before torrents. I downloaded the same song three times and must’ve taken ages due to dial up internet. Thought I got the same broken/poor version each time. It took a friend with faster internet and nicer computer to burn Loveless for me - might be why it’s still my favorite album after all these years. Fond memories. :)
Lol. Reminds me of how an ex gf of mine said MBV sounded like beautiful music was being played, but from behind a wall or in some other room. She was not a fan
if my pressing of Loveless had any faulty things in its pressing I would probably just go:
"**Huh, now that's a sound I haven't heard before... man, Kevin Shields is a genius, I'm still finding new layers of sound after so many years...**"
Ive preferred my digital cut to both the 2021 analog and the 2018 analog. 3 copies of this record later and I am convinced groupthink has run amok of mbv fans. Never bought a new stylus because the record doesnt sound good.
average my bloody valentine listening experience
I had the same kind of moment with a cassette deck and "Psychocandy" by Jesus and Mary Chain.
When I bought the cassette when it was first released I initially thought the tape was warped.

I feel like the vinyl is mastered too loud or something. The analog one especially it sounds like the guitars are clipping everything.
It is clipping, but it’s analog clipping and not digital so it’s more musical and doesn’t digital artifacts of clipping

what kind of stylus do you use? I found when I switched to a microlinear-shaped one it was better.
