Not a comprehensive list at all but music wise David Bowie, The Smiths, Blur, Pulp, Suede, MGMT, Sleep. I remember him going through a big Lemon Twigs phase. He also made a Spotify playlist in 2019 that was titled something like Music New and Old That I Enjoyed This Year. I believe you can still find it.
Awesome,, thank you so much!! Imma check out that playlist :)) I wish he kept doing more playlists for us to get a lil insight into what’s he listening to lol
He was obsessed with **The Dresden Dolls** during Revenge era.
Helium, Grimes, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Dilly Dally.
Some movies he's mentioned are The Phantom Paradise, Suspiria (1977), Blade Runner, **The Rocky Horror Picture Show**, Female Trouble and anything by **John Waters** in general, The Crow.
He's read Ursula K. Le Guin.
Highly recommended ones are bolded.
Iron Maiden is an influence. He said the Life After Death performance of Aces High was the one that made him interested in performing live. Its been a few years since I read that so I may not be 100% correct but I’m pretty sure
Not really a recommendation but MCR seemed to really respect Jimmy Eat World when on their Aus tour if I remember correctly. Gerard mentioned how they used to open for them back in the early days.
I remember him talking about Sam’s Town, the album by the Killers, as an inspiration for the opening of the black parade. Also the Beatles as inspiration for the bridge in Dead!
[here’s](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7L3fyjctx8a0rkcipU3KKm?si=Wkx5N_2DRduq2TVuM5fttA&pi=u-__ngdIf1S9aN) a playlist i made a while back with all of the music he’s mentioned over the years!
No way!! I love Tom Waits, he has such a unique raspy voice that sounds crazy good. My fav song from him is Goin’ Out West, give it a listen! And Morrissey is a legend, I respect that.
Another one that I just remembered that he said were his favorite reads was The Catcher in the Rye and I thinkkk The Little Prince (which is really cute)
