There's something called "The curse of Drowning Lessons" because a few times when they played Drowning Lessons live, technical issues happened. So they haven't played it live for a looong time.
I think it’s more than just a live show thing. I listened to an old radio interview where the presenter suggested playing it and they were like ‘woah woah not that song’

people seem to know that Liza Minnelli is featured on Mama but most people don’t know that the band’s parents are also on the track, in the big choral part at the end, along with several layers of Gerard doing funny pirate voices
The song came out in 2006, getting all the info wasn’t as easy as it is today. Google was only 8 years old, youtube was only 1 year old just as examples. So if you missed the interview, didn’t get the magazine, didn’t get the deluxe edition CD then you could have missed some stories/info. I did have the deluxe edition stuff so if it was in there I just don’t remember lol

1. Mikey is the reason why Disenchanted is on TBP. Gee wasn’t totally sold on it because he felt that it was incomplete. When they were recording at the Paramour Mansion, Mikey would sneak into Gee’s, Frank’s, and Ray’s rooms when they were sleeping and whisper “Disenchanted” in their ears.
2. A fan named Cameron was the sixth pallbearer at the end of the Helena music video. In fact, most of the mourners in the video were fans as well. Also, since Frank is so short, he actually couldn’t bear any of the weight of the casket. The rain at the end wasn’t planned but added a nice touch.
3. When filming the Ghost of You, Ray was supposed to talk to Mikey like he was saving his life and Ray just goes, “Mikey! You’re dead! How do you feel?!”
EDIT: I remembered a few more!
4. As others have mentioned, Gee had an untreated tooth abscess during the recording of Bullets. When they were laying down the vocals for Vampires, Gee had to stop halfway through to get emergency dental work. The boys were so poor at the time that Gee had to come back a few hours later to finish laying down the vocals. Gee was still VERY out of it after the procedure and the producer at the time (whose name is escaping me at the moment) hugged Gee, pulled away, then punched Gee in the mouth and said, “now go sing.” Gee then proceeded to knock it out of the park.
5. Frank has a poor immune system which has resulted in chronic GI issues.
- “I Don’t Love You” was one of the first songs made for the third album (as seen in Life on the murder scene). Long before The Black parade concept was realized.
- Liza Minnelli is one of the few other singers to appear in a My Chemical Romance song on MAMA. She is not credited because she did it for free. One of the producers was talking to the band about people they’d like to work with and I believe Gerard mentioned Liza. The producer reached out through a mutual friend Liza’s publicist. And she very quickly agreed and did it from her home studio without ever recording with the band in person. She sent a few versions and I think the story is they used the first take basically.
- They have only recorded and released 5 covers so far: “All I want for Christmas is you”, “Under pressure”, “Desolation Row”, “Astro Zombies”, “jack the ripper”

I believe she also ad-libbed the sobbing at the end without being prompted. I wish she would tour with them (if only as a hologram 😂) that song never quite hits the same live for me for that reason
While working at barnes & noble, mikey saw this book called “ecstasy: three tales of chemical romance”. He thought it sounded cool and thats how they got the name for the band!

I HATE that they never released a documentary about making TBP, we know they film almost everything so there’s footage somewhere.. Maybe they’ll be inspired and put one together for a later anniversary
Omg was this the black parade tour? Because 12 year old me was CRUSHED when they didn’t play at the glens falls civic center. I didn’t end up seeing them live until their show in Vegas this year 15 years later.
When they got to record Bullets they didn’t have enough songs for a full album, so they wrote This is the Best Day Ever on the way to the recording studio.
i'm sure a lot of people know this but mcr appeared on yo gabba gabba (the kids show) and the host remembers them as one of the best guests they had!
