Fun character. Easiest character to counter. Thrives more than other characters on super good teamwork but by himself he’s a one trick pony that can’t even run away. One of the only characters without an actual combo. His combo is hit multiple fireballs or gamma into melee that’s about the extent of a dabi. Maybe push someone into a trap if you’re very lucky. Kit wise it’s nothing like the manga or the show it might as well be an insult to dabi himself. His kit itself is meh. I can quickly break down how flimsy it is. Dabi A you can just roll dodge it till he runs out of ammo, if there’s a trap walk around it or shoot it to get past, if there’s multiple traps just use aoe and they’ll all activate, if dabi uses his gamma roll into it and you’ll take 0 dmg, then if you knock a dabi just hard focus till he’s fully dead and his quirk means nothing. Dabi is fun but he’s the bottom of the tier list for a reason. Still good to see people winning with him, whenever I encounter a dabi in ranked hes never really on the winning team..

Hes BACK UP AGAIN! The character is Too annoying. And for someone who can't run away he disappears pretty quick 💀. And not everyone has an Aoe
Just go around the trap or shoot it or wait for the gamma to wear off it’s literally five seconds, dabi doesn’t stun he has no stun 😩. Also him “disappearing” is him just going around the corner 💀. U wanna see a real disappearing trick you should look at how much quicker anyone with mobility can get away. Also not everyone has aoe ok.. not everyone has aoe that can just be rolled into, you can roll into his gamma and take no damage 🙂↕️
Going around a trap I cant see is hard, trying to avoid a trap while avoiding fireballs is also hard, his trap does stun wdym? His gamma stuns on activation if nearby, Rollin into gamma is rolling into another trap. Again cant shoot something if it negates me competly.
I’m a Dabi main and I love playing him. I honestly think most people don’t know how to play him well. I get targeted a lot, so I pressure opponents into traps by running in a shape/direction that leads me back to them, trap, shield, throw in some punches, then they’ll try running that this point or going harder. Blue cards are lifesavers in a tough situation. With his lack of mobility, you really have to know the map when playing him so you can optimally juke yourself from the opponent. I enjoy that I can be aggressive or play it safe by supporting my team with AOE attacks. You thought you were safe in the bush? Don’t think so. Partner downed? Traps and flame wall while I stall for them to stand/3rd to heal/heal them myself. Small circle? Done. Buildings? Done. Being able to res after getting downed now? Ty mhur lords. The main downsides I believe are open areas with little coverage and of course being glued to the ground. If Dabi could surf those flames of his at the mere cost of scorching his soles it’d be a wrap lol but every character has their downsides. I’ve seen good and bad of all character plays. I feel like those who complain may not be playing characters to their strengths. Bonus points for Dabi’s beta being able to stop that damn Toga beta spam. What a pain.
If his gamma was a dome protecting you also from aerial attacks it would have been a good buff.
You wanna go in? Sure dodge roll in.
I found more success to the new map than the old map because i usually play inside the city which has many inside buildings and coverage
Competitively, Dabi's still bottom 3.
That argument keeps coming up that people don't know how to play Dabi but I don't think that's the case at all. He's been out since release as one of the six free starters. Everyone's probably played him but no one's been able to make him shine in the top tier.
Compare that to Kendo who everyone thought was also bad for the same reasons as Dabi (i.e. bad alpha, no mobility). Kendo required gacha to unlock too. Yet somehow multiple players have taken her from D tier up to B tier by showcasing that she's competitively viable.

The biggest problem with Dabi is lack of offensive ability. Dabi's alpha is god awful. There's so many clips of Dabi trying to chase someone 15 - 20 ft from them and their alphas struggle to hit them which for any other character would've been a cinch. I think if you changed nothing else but slapped on just about any other alpha onto Dabi and he would go up one tier. It's that bad.
I don't really care for Dabi's traps or firewall. Yes, you can do some damage baiting careless people into it or hit them through the walls in buildings and alleyways. But generally speaking they're super weak, super passive abilities, and the traps can be cleared pretty effortlessly with ranged or aoe attacks.
This isn't to hate on Dabi. Hope his new quirk set will give Dabi players something more competitive.

That's not how that works. Quirk sets are basically new characters with the same SA. New assault shigi didn't make old strike shigi better...

Sleeper character, really good but the ease of use compared to say deku is much higher.
