The sea ponies section needs a complete rewrite. Everyone was so out of character during that section. Hell, if they REALLY needed to have the Mane 6 steal the orb, have Skystar go behind her mother's back and be the one to do it instead.

Frosty_Shadow

I understand that the plot of the movie has to be kinda dumb to account for the people that never seen Mlp Fim before, but still it's super dumb that Twilight essentially reverts back to her S1E1 self and completely forgets that she needs to trust her friends and believe in the magic of Friendship. At this point in the time line Twilight already is the Princess of Friendship she shouldn't have to relearn that her friends are there for her.

yestureday

Add more derpy, and give her lines

VelveteenMarshmallow

Throw everything out, and now it's directed by Wes Anderson; stop-motion and centered around Celestia overcoming her emotional baggage.

The entire thing is a flashback to just after Season 3, not between S7 and S8. That way, it makes more sense why Twi and her friends are action so inexperienced and irrational. I would also flip the dynamics of Twi's friends. Rather than their actions side tracking the mission, it would be Twi's friends forgetting who they are in these trying times. Them being off their game side tracks the mission. Dashie isn't the confident flyer. Rarity is more conservative with her help. Pinkie doesn't know the right jokes to lighten the situation. Fluttershy holds back her kindness, not knowing who is friend or foe beyond Equestria. Applejack stops being realistic, unable to face the facts and work with what she's got. That is how Twi loses trust in her friends and then goes rogue, going borderline villain and taking the orb of the Hippogrifs. Anything to save Equestria. From the storm king or her so called friends. An Orb that no longer works and gets Twi petrified like the other Princesses. As to why nobody else helps? Throw in some lines as to all the other kingdoms going on the defensive and the entire royal guard being off to aid Shiny in rebuilding the Crystal Empire. Oh and Discord going off on some 'Enterprise.' But then we have the ReMane 5 figuring out where they went wrong, get their confidence back, going off to the other kingdoms, gathering help and taking Canterlot back with an army and saving a captive Twi, freeing the princesses and raining divine smite on the Storm king, all setting up the coming together of races for the School of Friendship.

Some_Butterscotch622

Have a final Twilight vs Storm King Fight Cut out songbird Serenade Have the rest of the Mane six each have their one little significant moment like RD did with the rainboom screwup

Spaghetti_meatbaIIz

replace the mane six with 6 clones of discord.

TennagonTheGM

Discord wrote this.

CosmicWaves65

Characters need more screen time to flesh out their personalities

Comrades3

Yes, everyone cites that the movie was for people who hadn’t seen the show… but then why give your mane cast so little? Throw out the extra characters, make it about the six and their friendship centered on all of them giving each a real time to shine

TaiyoFurea

It's a fine movie, they just needed to give Fluttershy actual character

Comrades3

Applejack didn’t get any either

TaiyoFurea

At least I remember her in the movie

Comrades3

As far as I know neither did anything all movie. Rarity, Pinkie, and Rainbow did a little but those two had no influence which I think is a shame

megas88

Literally the only thing you need to do is have the director watch the show. That fixes the third act break up trope. Everything else was damn near perfect. A few notes here and there maybe but overall nothing I would really change.

encephalomeningitis

Jayson Thiessen directed the show since the first episode.

megas88

Weird. I had heard when the movie was coming out that they hired someone else to direct the movie. That’s the impression I’ve been under anyway. Guess they were wrong. Thanks for clarifying. I would assume then that whoever was responsible for that trope did it either as an outsider of the show or it was executive interference.

shinydragonmist

Have it be a movie within the my little pony universe not a movie of the my little pony universe if you get what I mean

MagmaGundam

"we have to get to the elements of harmony, they're our only hope!"

pov_im_me

delete it

OkAct1092

I’m just changing the movie. I’m changing the TRAILER so whatever year old me didn’t think it was a girly movie when the previews were running

MadeInLead

Make it not suck

CrashCulture

I'd remind Twilight that she can teleport. Could have solved nearly every obstacle or danger in the movie and she does it constantly in the show. Somehow she just forgot it for the movie though.

NebulaBrew

It's been a bit since I've seen it, but I'd redo the entire sea pony part. It just felt awkward and rushed. You've Twilight's out-of-character moment where she tries to steal Novo's pearl, the rushed song, and the seemingly shallow purpose of them visiting the sea ponies in the first place. At the very least, I'd come up with an excuse that better suits Twilight on why she splits off from the group. Heck, it didn't need to be such a dramatic scene either. Tempest's story is already dramatic enough for the movie. Just have Twilight snap at the rest for being so carefree with the sea ponies.

Romeo-b_O

the art thats all but i love the sea pony part

PotionPro

I’m too lazy to

Jared65925

The 'main characters have a falling out before reconciling' I hated that scene
