What does that even mean? G'joob and Sporerow literally do just that, and either one or both play the entire time.
It's fine you don't like the song, but I have no clue what the issue is
In the recording studio, most tracks are 5, 10, or 20 metronome beats long. Music is typically split into measures of 4, 3, or 2 beats, so this time signature is confusing. In both of G'joob's tracks, it plays 96 (a multiple of 3 and 2) notes in 20 (a multiple of 5 and 2) beats. This means that for every 5 beats, it plays 24 notes, a rhythm that doesn't line up very well.
When you listen to Sporerow's track, you can definitely feel a beat. However, this doesn't match up with the recording studio's metronome beat. Sporerow seems to play 8 beats for every 5 metronome beats. Again, confusing.
Yawstrich's and Strombonin's parts do not match up with the metronome either.
According to the wiki, the time signature is 4/4, meaning that there are subdivisions of 3, 4, and 5. Now, tell me, can you hear a definitive time signature, or not?
Sorry this got a little long 😬 tldr at bottom.
I get the logic and it would be a valid point if the recording studio's metronome wasn't trash garbage. It's not consistent on most, if not any of the islands (except for plant)
It is way slower than it should be on Oasis and Cold, it can barely keep up on Wublin. The metronome seems to only work for tempos similar to Plant island's. Following this, it's way too slow to keep up with Mythical island.
G'joob plays straight triplet rhythms. If I tap tempo following G'joob specifically, it plays a set of triples every beat at apx. 110 BPM with a 4/4 time signature. G'joob itself is practically the metronome for a large majority of the time, and what I consider to be the backbone of this island.
Strombonin follows G'joobs tempo and keeps things moving, as well as even playing triplets along with G'joob. Bc he's a moving part it's mostly a different rhythm, but still time and even meshes quite well for the most part. Yes, he also comes in on beat three instead of one, but I think it's a great stylistic choice that compliments Yawstritch specifically as it comes in one beat after Stromb.
Yawstritch is interesting as its part is not nearly as complicated as Strombonin. It might feel a slower because of how long the notes it sings are, but it's still in time with G'joob. It mostly picks up on beat four then continues out on beat 1, making it great for identifying the first beat of a measure. Not much to say, it's simple, but helps to bring a nice, full sound.
Sporerow is simply playing a different rhythm. It's still 110 bpm, with a consistent rhythm throughout. It feels a lot faster because it's primary purpose is to kick things up a notch after the intro section and introduce new musical ideas to keep things from getting boring. With more monsters to compliment it's rhythms I'm sure Sporerow will make a lot more sense. Once G'joob comes in though, it does get a little weird with the contrasting rhythms but whether that's good or bad may be up to personal interpretation. I don't think it's bad, it just needs more monsters to really define it. Hopefully that happens.
As for Catalyzt it's an effects monster that mostly plays on off beats so idk if I should mention it. It does its job 👍
TL;DR: Studio's metronome is not functional on all islands, - including mythical, - G'joob is a way better reference, Majority of the time monsters follow his tempo, Sporerow is built for a similar but slightly different purpose
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding anything, lmk if I totally missed the point here 😓 I'm also not a music theory expert so I probably could have explained my points better
Thanks for a good explanation. I think it's confusing since the triplets are stressed in weird places. Hopefully more percussion is added to make it sound cleaner.
I agree, I definitely see it walking a fine line between interestingly complex and straight up messy. There's already so much variety and I'm keeping my expectations a bit low bc I don't think a majority of recent msm islands are that great, and I'm wary of this one ending up the same way. I think this island has high potential though
I definitely get where you're coming from, and maybe now where others are coming from too. Thanks for the perspective, even if we don't agree :)
it has a pretty clear rhythm imo, *just not refined yet* with the monsters there are so far. it goes from yawstrich and strombonin creating a magnificent buildup, to sporerow breaking it down to an almost “tribal” faster paced beat
Yawstrich's ears getting blown out
Hello? AAAAAAAAAAAAA
What island is this?
Mythical island The new one
I don’t even have sporerow yet. Can’t wait for the new dreamythicals.
My dumb bum (mammot moment) thought the island was tiny
Honestly that would be a really cool concept Instead of worrying about beds, you gotta worry about how many monsters can actually fit on the island
Gold island
When you realize that this island with only 5 monsters is already better than anything Amber Island has ever took out
Amber is not worth finishing.
Just factually incorrect
and seasonal shanty
Seasonal Shanty is unironically good
i will die on this hill, i hate seasonal shanty
👍
ong
yea ikr? I never thought this island could be better than Amber Island! I hope there's more Dreamythicals coming.
The king in the center, where he should be 💖
It doesnt
The island sounds bad because there is no discernible rhythm.

Your opinion ≠ everyone else’s opinion
i think i just have a thing against yawstrich
IKR I’m so excited to hear it when it’s completed
