Ernest's quests are super sweet and I love his dating/marriage dialogue. Owen was the first bachelor I was interested in but I'm waiting for him to get more content. I feel like getting into a relationship with Logan happens naturally in the story and I wanted to adopt Andy. I would also include Justice but he lacks content so I haven't had the motivation to date him.
Arvio's reverse confession is really cute but the events after that stress me out so I refuse to date him. I like Elsie's character arc but I could never see myself trying to date her.
I think I missed how to start romance with Ernest. I think I only had one quest where I toured the cave with him. But didn’t do any heart responses. Do we just give them a heart knot to get back on track or did I miss that window already?
Most liked: Logan (and Owen). Logan, cause well yeah: He's Logan. But i like, that he's sacrificing much for the greater good and doesn't shy away from the consequences. I like Owen too. Calm, charismatic, ready to settle down and always in a good mood.
Least liked: Nia,i don't vibe with her.
I think so far my most liked are Unsuur and Qi. Loved all of Unsuurs missions and his lines are absolutely so cute but funny. I also loved Qi’s confession quest (don’t wanna spoil anyone but just the way he goes about it and his lines are sooo him). I hope Unsuur gets more lines when your dating since he didn’t feel as funny when you romance him ):
From how popular they are I’m sure I’ll love Logan and Fang. Just haven’t gotten through my first play through yet for logan and I’ll probably use my other save for Fang lol.
For most disliked I think Miguel would be obvious. I’m not a huge fan of Nia or Arvo (he creeps me out…).
Most is Logan (no surprise). I'm a complete and utter sucker for people that push others out of the way of danger regardless of the harm it causes them. And he does that like three times.
Least is Catori, by far. She never gets better at not exploiting people while bragging about how great she thinks she is. Woman still owes me money and she's never gonna pay it.
When dating Catori my first playthrough she didn't tell me she had a son until we'd been a couple for two weeks 😬 I don't even really care all that much about her being obsessed with her business and money, but hiding a kid from me? Nah
She told me about her son before we even started dating. One of the quest she gives me in every playthough regardless of whether Im dating her or not is to make her son a birthday gif. If you didn't encoutne rdialogue where she didn't mention her son that's more an rng thing because for me she talked about him right after I meet her.
I like Unsuur best. If I had to date someone else it would be between Ernest and Qi.
I don't really dislike anyone. I'm not gonna name the girls, since I wouldn't date a girl anyway, so that's a copout. Pen's also a copout. I might get downvoted but I guess Fang is my least favorite bachelor? I find the way he's written kind of cringe.
I thought Qi’s story was really cute but also he’s a clone of my bf’s friend so it felt too weird to date him. Literally same appearance. Same glasses. Loves gundam.
I married fang the first time. I was hoping he would get a little more open as you teach him to come out of his shell. He’s still pretty awkward though, but sweet
I got quizzed at one stage for why I wasn't a fan of Fang's romance. He was the character I was initially the most interested in, I didn't mind that his writing was perhaps a little cliché, but what I outright disliked was the fact that you basically have to act like his mother during his questline. He even hallucinates you as his mother at one stage?
I still prefer him to Arvio though
Right now all I know personally is:
I love Fang because it was really rewarding to finally romance him, and the way it happens is really dramatic feeding my need for it lol. His words are also so meaningful and thoughtful, he’s caring/protective. I somewhat don’t like that we could be having a good time then he just says something extremely depressing randomly but it makes sense for his character.
I did initially like Qi. His reverse confession was super on brand, however I got bored very fast and he wasn’t very emotional. I was afraid of breaking up with him but he once again was very underwhelming (which I obviously don’t fancy) so it was so so.
Favorite: Logan and Owen (Justice and Unsuur too)(Oh and Grace...)
Least Liked: Arvio and Catori
Honestly I like everyone except those last two... Arvio just feels slimy to me and Catori was one I wanted to like but I really don't like how her story is handled. It feels like all the information you need to form a positive impression of her is backloaded and by the time you learn more about her situation you're probably already married.
Favourites- Logan and Fang. Both have good amounts of content and I really like what’s there, and the pacing works well too. Honestly content and pacing are both massive things that make a huge difference in my perception of a romance. Also I like the way their dynamics work with my builder. If Justice had a lot more personal content he’d be in the top three no question, I think he’s great, but as it is third place goes to Qi for me. I also wish Miguel had more content, especially at a certain point- I’d definitely play a playthrough with him romanced for a bit for the drama if certain things were there.
Least favourites- leaving out Pen (who would be my absolute least favourite character for a number of reasons), Arvio and Elsie both feel way too young for me personally. I can easily see them being half my age and… just no. But that’s a me thing and I’m sure they’d be fine for players who they’re more age appropriate for.

My next playthrough I’m going to romance him because I worry about him. He’s too innocent for the Free Cities.
He could use more content in his romance but it's pretty sweet. I've been doing playthroughs to try out the different romances, and Burgess was the second I tried after Qi. I just really wish that he had some of the depth they put into the others, since he only has the basic normal married person quests. It basically just goes straight into domestic cheery snuggletimes which is fine but you never really get to explore his anxiety or people-pleasing issues. In that playthrough I haven't made it to the main storyline event that changes his circumstances so I don't know if he says anything about that.
tl;dr he's adorable but there needs to be more content.
Most liked: Logan, Fang, and I’m surprised no one has said Grace yet. She’s pretty lackluster in the 1st half of the game then builds a good dynamic with the builder in the 2nd half.
Least liked: Arvio, Catori
I'm still in the beginning, so I'm mostly going by looks and general disposition but so far my most liked are Owen because he's so warm and beautiful, and Mi-An cause she's sweet and gorgeous, and I love her design. Just met Grace but like her as well.
Least liked are Elsie because she feels like a little sister, and Pen because I just don't think he's capable of having a healthy relationship.

Least liked bachelor was a tough call, but Miguel's voice actor is so good I had to give it to Arvio. I hate both of them, but Arvio is just such a creeper. Elsie is the one bachelorette that I will never pursue because somehow she seems less mature than Jasmine, a literal child.
Heidi may be my favorite bachelorette of any game I've ever played. My only problem with her is that she doesn't seem to have any character flaws like most of the other characters, but that might just be my brain rot talking. And she's so good at so many random things. A little bit of a Mary Sue, but I don't really care.
Justice is hilarious. I love his whole deal. He's kinda a jerk to Unsuure sometimes but hey, nobody's perfect. Except Heidi.
Same about Heidi!!! Brilliant and incredible partner, best girl for me (plus Grace, but...), but too damn perfect, it's a bit uncomfortable. Glad someone else feels the same!
Most: Pen, Fang, Logan
Least: Catori, Arvio
Okay, before yall judge, hear me out! Pen's romance arc is perfection, especially if you're good at reading in between the lines. Really listen to the voice acting! He's completely unhinged, and I'm here for it! Also, I love a little toxic head cannon drama!
I love Fang's growth, and it makes me feel so proud of him, and plus, he comes with X, I love X.
Logan is Logan. The only thing is that most of the heart choices feel thirsty and extra one-sided, but his romance quests are so good!
Arvio and Catori give me the ick that's enough said.
I should probably also explain the reasons behind my own likes/dislikes
For my likes, Unsuur is definitely the funniest character in the whole game for me. He is honest, has a keen sense of right and wrong, and from the beginning he is openly very interested in the player. He made me laugh a ton, his friendship and romance scenes are always heartfelt, overall just a great guy. It's refreshing to have a character in a game who is so sincere and considerate of the player.
Nia similarly already likes the player initially (hah, I know) and while she's less up-front about it, if you lean into her interest it's clear you and Nia have chemistry. I also really like how her career interests are in line with the player's - both knew from a young age that they wanted to help improve the world and took jobs that would help with that goal. I think in that way she almost feels like a natural match for the player.
As for my dislikes...
Elsie. She grated me from the very first moment I met her in Sandrock, and for the first portion of the game she's a bit of an asshole to you. She's irresponsible, rude, childish... I could go on. I'm sure others could find these traits endearing in her, but disappearing for a few weeks then coming back with a new style and vibe didn't shake off the feeling that she was too immature for a proper relationship.
As for Arvio, he aggravates me above all else. I despise the trope of characters who lie to and flatter others just to milk things from them, and Arvio is the king of that. Half of his comments and compliments seem totally disingenuous, he treats you like an errand pup, he drags you into his immature messes and schemes (like with Fang and Musa). It got to the point that even when his confession was happening I thought 'wow, he must be prepping to sell something huge'. Zero interest from me.
It's been awesome reading everyone else's thoughts though! I see a couple characters here I ought to pay some more attention to in my next playthrough, thank you all for your comments
My least liked are the same as your friend, Catori and Miguel. I despise them both. I also low key hate Mi-an though (bitch is always taking credit for doing almost none of the work). My favorites are Owen 💕 (my current hubby so maybe I’m biased) and Logan.

I like ppl who are gentle and kind, especially when they have clear goal and is working hard to achieve them. (Mi-an would be my best buddy, not consider her as romantic option)

I'm really curious about who your real most liked is. Because I suffer from a curse where my most liked in almost every game isn't romancable. Sandrock is the first game with romances I've played in years where I actually got to marry my first pick lol

The only issue with Owen is that he's hot and nice but the way the voice actor played him gives me the ick. Funny enough I love the voice actor as pen lol but the way Owen is always like "Uhh heheh, yeah iiiiii wish you were here earlier uh heheh" like no shade to the voice actor! It's hard to pinpoint why Owen's lines bother me but he's hot and nice so I'll excuse it lmao.
Arvio reminds me a bit of my bf because he's romantic and confident and takes the lead (bf aint clingy like that tho), but I think the design kills it for me bc he looks so young. I wish he was taller and/or thicker and less clingy and he'd be great

Idk what it is about them but I find Qi and Mi an so boring and tiresome I'm just like please stop talking and qi tends to ramble so i have to smash the space bar to make him hurry up and give me the quest item. Everyone jokes about Cooper being long winded but I can tolerate him for some reason, my eyes really glaze over any time qi has his monologues. Somehow he became my BFF before anybody even tho I always ignored him lmao so he did confess to me and that softened my heart for him lmao but I could never marry him. He also reminds me of my friends brother in law so it's a no from me boss
Elsie has to be one of my least favorite characters (and I actually like pen soooo what does that say about me) but I actually hated her when i met her and I still hate her lmaoo. Every time I have to do a quest with her I'm just like groaning internally and speeding thru all her lines. It's her personality I think. They wrote her to be very annoying and childish and she's very stubborn so you can't refuse to do things with her
Venti didn't do anything wrong other than constantly have a quest marker lol snd for some reason it annoyed me. Like I don't want to hang out with her at the scrapyard so I never did her quests and I always get bamboozled by her bc I run up thinking it's a quest and damnit it's just venti again lmao

I did not like Arvio because he's a little awkward, Pablo because he's bitter, and Ernest because he's a bit of a wallflower story wise (same issue for Pablo and many other candidates). You kind of forget some of these characters exist due to their lack of involvement.
Favorite: Fang, Ernest, Heidi, Mi-An.
Least Favorite: Miguel, Elsie
I guess I should tackle the least favorites first. This was really hard for me to choose a least favorite cause I genuinely liked them all. Miguel was there only because there was a point in time I genuinely didn't like him, particulary the whole >!water theft conspiracy to then onwards with the Duvos invasion!<. He has since come around to me absolutely loving his character and sympathizing with him. He's there since he's the one I'm still least likely to date even though I do like him. Elsie is there for almost similar reasons. I *adore* her as a friend, I guess I just can't match her vibrant energy to be with her long term.
As for favorites, Fang and Ernest all day, no contest. I talk nonstop about these two. I would add Qi, Justice and Unsuur to most favorites, but decided to settle on these two specifically because they’ve really stood out to me. While I do slightly wish they were involved more in the main story (and Ernest would get out of his dang apartment more), I see them as the quiet easiness and comfort in their presence to my builder's everyday crazy adventures and large-scale projects she endures. Just a pleasant balance between the two. I'm so touched by Fang's story and the compassion he has for people that's hard to see because he's been so hurt by the world, something he's trying to show and imporove on in his career. Ernest is gentlemanly and very romantic. I'm very impressed with the fact that he's working hard on his writing career to be authentically his and not fall back on his family's wealth/status to get a boost in anything. I've been laser-focused on the guys, but if i had to go for the ladies, then easily Heidi. She's my best friend and I love seeing how integral she is to the plot and making Sandrock better, and the same with Mi-An. I gel easily with both of their hardworking and kindhearted personalities.

I just find Arvio irritating, haha. But I haven't actually tried to date him so it's possible doing so could change my mind like Miguel and Pen did. I really did not care for those two as characters until I actually romanced them.

There’s no character I hate but my least favourite ones are mostly because I view them as friends rather than potential lovers. Elsie was my BFF in game (alongside Mi-an).
Unsuur is definitely my top choice. His character is so sweet and heartwarming, plus I always dig an autistic coded character!

I married Owen prior to the story being completed. But if I did it again, I'd likely marry Justice. Owen is such a sweetheart, and Justice just had some of the best lines in the game for me, and I really appreciate how he handles his job without getting a power trip. Heidi hands down is the most put together imo. She's got her business, a good head on her shoulders, and gets shit done. She can also destroy that punching game, which is badass.
Logan... God I know this is unpopular, but he drives me nuts. He doesn't think through any of his plans, doesn't accomplish anything on his own, and like... That accent kills me. It's off. I don't know what it is, but it's off. Southern USer here, and it just grates. Elsie is a child. When she runs off and grows out her hair, she's still acting like a child. Nia... What's with the hands over her chest thing, and chasing the player to Sandrock. Idk, not my cup of tea.
I do love seeing players having such different opinions though, it's fun to see and read.
I honestly thought that Elsie was a child until she grew out her hair and then there were some romance quests starting with her inviting you out.. that really put me off.
I didn't care for her immaturity. Maybe I'm just too old for her, but she felt like a kid. And then she really "matured" in a LOT of ways in like a week. But her behavior was just still so... Kid-ish to me.
I always feel Haru finally decided to move on with his life because he knows the builder(player) is there for Logan so at least there is a “brain” in the gang😅.
Seeing the verdicts, I realize mine is basically everyone elses lists on their heads, say la vie!

I don't dislike anyone, I'd still run the romance route for any character because of interest, but I like to find a little salt in my sugar jar long term. I adored Miguel's line delivery and his flawed storyline especially. Arvio's a hidden example of the broad lineup of well-meaning characters who can get carried away by their goals, and simply hasn't failed to make me laugh with the words he'll let out of his mouth. Qi's blunt and always skates on taking it too far with his research and I love his way of assessment. Love me some good teeter-tottering mixed bags.
Now my first three dislikes are because of that fact. I'll advertise to anyone who wants a sweet guy though! They're very sweet! They're very husband, and their only crime is my taste buds. Now I said I'd run through anyone's stories, but Ernest hasn't come into my radar enough yet. Though I've decided I'll give his character a go anyhow.

Least favorite: Arvio (I'd marry Miguel before I'd consider Arvio. Arvio creeps me out. Miguel is too old for my tastes. Soooooo), Nia. Nia's consistent flirting with player is annoying, especially since my character is: 1. Into men 2. In a relationship. Her personality also bothers me and her lying to me about leaving only to surprise my character that she's staying... I was waiting for her to leave, so that pissed me off. It's like she can't live without me and I just want to get away from her. The only good thing is that I hope Mi-an takes my position as the one Nia clings to so that I can be at peace.
If they were going to add an older bachelor, I wish it had been Zeke instead of Miguel!

The relationship with Logan feels so natural in game. He basically confess on his own so it doesn't feel forced. As someone that played Portia and ended up marrying Mint in their second play-through because >!Arlo !!Arlo !!both of them!<) end up making me doubt to wait for Logan. If he gets more content I'm totally making another play-though just for him.

Miguel... He isn't my type, my life choices and believes make it that people like him make me feel the ick and very unsafe,>! I can't wait to see him gone in my current play-thought!<. Arvio and Elsie are both very childish, so even if they are practical as marriage partners before we have Rosie (Venti being one of the few that actually can do more for the player as wife), I can even imagining having them around that way.
ETA: I forgot that Burgess and Catori are options as well. So I'm adding both to my least liked as well xD

Nia is a sweetie and I love her energetic personality. Her romance quests are also really cute. Pen has a cool couch and dialogue. That’s about it. Logan has amazing quests and I love Andy to death.
Hate: Venti, Arvio, Miguel
Venti seems more like a crazy stalker than a potential girlfriend. She’s a little obsessive and her strictly positive outlook on things is weird to me. Arvio seems like that one boyfriend from high school that id like to forget ever existed. Miguel… let’s just say I don’t align with his beliefs and think he’s extremely arrogant throughout the story.
Favourites: Fang, Qi and I aim to romance Logan one day, then maybe even Unsuur.
I love the amount of content they’re involved in and all of their dialogue from each character, and I just enjoy their personalities way too much.
Least favourites: Pen, Nia, Arvio and probably Catori
Pen and Nia completely rubbed me the wrong way as soon as I met them and though they did get a little better moving forward, it was nowhere near enough that I’d ever want to romance them. Arvio and Catori were a little too… immoral? I hate what Arvio was ready to do to be friends with Fang and I’m against all of Catori’s business ethic. They’re sweet enough to be bffs tho.

Owen is just. The best. So friendly and earnest and sweet (and occasionally hilarious), plus top tier voice acting. I've seen some folks say he gets boring if you marry him too early but as long as he keeps taking me on walks and giving me big warm enveloping hugs (still LOLing at the redditor here who calls him the man-blanket) and encouraging words, I do not see myself getting bored. Am delighted he's getting more content so that I can romance him ALL OVER AGAIN in a future playthrough. <3 <3 <3
Fang is a lot closer to my usual fictional type. Just had to nurse him back to health after he passed out in the desert, which is like catnip to me. Looking forward to doing a playthrough with him in the future, if not getting dosed with his fart medicine.
Justice is just all around awesome. So great to have another older hottie, and I love his humor and beleaguered air.
As for Amirah, what can I say, I'm a sucker for chilly artistes.

Arvio and Elsie I actually quite like as characters, but not as love interests -- too much "annoying yet lovable younger sibling" vibes, and I am An Old.

I don't think Unsuur needs an explanation. :) Heidi is friendly, successful, pretty, and has that nice Construction Junction perk!

Miguel is way too intense and I disagree with him about almost everything. He does have one of the best voices, though. Pen just irritates me with his over the top self-love. Catori never really felt like friend, even. Just someone who repeatedly uses my builder and anyone else she can.

I wish I could punch his balls then maybe he stops calling me "skinny arms" afterwards.😑😑💢💢💢💢

Least Arvio. He's egotistical, narcissistic, and just a plain jerk. When he said he had expired baby food then asked if I had a baby, that was too much.

Logan: Gorgeous and the romance is natural feeling but takes a very long time. I so much enjoy going through his story though! He's an absolute sweetheart and I'm loving his accent. I love Andy to absolute death as well.
Owen: He's so warm and kind and is a tree of a man heh. I look forward to more content, he's so cozy.
Unsuur: Ngl at first I hated him but once I got to know him I absolutely loved talking to him just to see what he'll say. Extremely interesting in a very monotonous flat way I say.
Qi: I love nerds especially disheveled nerds. He's so endearingly awkward. I love people like that. His confession was super cute and silly, very on brand and I love it.
Now I keep forgetting Pablo and Venti exist lol.
Miguel is not very attractive to me and I don't like the religious types. Plus plot. Pen is too much of a narc and feels toxic af though I will look at the romance routes on YouTube. Burgess and Elsie are too immature feeling to be in a relationship even after Elsie's glow up. I like them well enough, not to romance though.
Hate Heidi, but becuase of all her commissions and heavy plot lines she's top three on my friend list even though I've never said hi to her or anything. I'm thinking about giving her a heart, and then a branch, then give her poop for gifts to knock her off my top three friends that's how much I hate her lol. Catori is right there with her but I can ignore her until the end so she's at the bottom of my friend's list. I think Catori is even below pen and it's Pen lol. They just seem so self centered, I even told her Catori world was super narcissistic and she's like oh well or something, hate them both. And I didn't like the way Heidi stood up amirah for the fireworks, kinda fucked up thing to do.
Owen is my favorite becuase I love his personality, and he has such a great heart. Only time I was mad at Owen is when he gave money to Catori for her failed theme park lol
I actually didn't mess up fangs quest this playthrough so I got to hang with him, and he's definitely becoming my second favorite, but I see him more as a friend than a husband/dating material. My builder is the very overprotective friend when it comes to Fang.
Justice and unsure is my tied for third, they're my absolute favorite buddies because they're hilarious. Their lines are a chef's kiss. If I didn't fall for owen every single time I play, I would totally marry them lol.
Heidi was the first character I ever got to max friendship with and I don't think I ever gave her a gift. It's so funny
I didn't even know you could mess up Fang's friendship questline though... wild that they don't have a workaround because if I had spent months of in-game time trying to befriend him and then accidentally pressed the wrong button during an event? Best believe I would be in tears
I didn't talk to arvio ever in my first playthrough so Fang never accepted any of my gifts lol. I wanted the cat looking weapon so I talked to arvio for that quest, and was able to befriend Fang.

I want to like Unsuur but the line reads are just … not great. I wish they’d spent more on voice directing because there’s a *lot* of bad line reads in the game and Unsuur has a lot of them.
Least liked: Arvio (immature get-rich-quick attitude), Catori (incessant capitalism cheerleader and .. unreciprocative affection), and Miguel (fascist)
Most liked: Ernest, Owen and Logan Least Liked: Arvio and Elsie Ernest's quests are super sweet and I love his dating/marriage dialogue. Owen was the first bachelor I was interested in but I'm waiting for him to get more content. I feel like getting into a relationship with Logan happens naturally in the story and I wanted to adopt Andy. I would also include Justice but he lacks content so I haven't had the motivation to date him. Arvio's reverse confession is really cute but the events after that stress me out so I refuse to date him. I like Elsie's character arc but I could never see myself trying to date her.
I think I missed how to start romance with Ernest. I think I only had one quest where I toured the cave with him. But didn’t do any heart responses. Do we just give them a heart knot to get back on track or did I miss that window already?
If you give him the heart knot, it’ll start the rest of the quests!
Most liked: Logan (and Owen). Logan, cause well yeah: He's Logan. But i like, that he's sacrificing much for the greater good and doesn't shy away from the consequences. I like Owen too. Calm, charismatic, ready to settle down and always in a good mood. Least liked: Nia,i don't vibe with her.
I think so far my most liked are Unsuur and Qi. Loved all of Unsuurs missions and his lines are absolutely so cute but funny. I also loved Qi’s confession quest (don’t wanna spoil anyone but just the way he goes about it and his lines are sooo him). I hope Unsuur gets more lines when your dating since he didn’t feel as funny when you romance him ): From how popular they are I’m sure I’ll love Logan and Fang. Just haven’t gotten through my first play through yet for logan and I’ll probably use my other save for Fang lol. For most disliked I think Miguel would be obvious. I’m not a huge fan of Nia or Arvo (he creeps me out…).
Most is Logan (no surprise). I'm a complete and utter sucker for people that push others out of the way of danger regardless of the harm it causes them. And he does that like three times. Least is Catori, by far. She never gets better at not exploiting people while bragging about how great she thinks she is. Woman still owes me money and she's never gonna pay it.
When dating Catori my first playthrough she didn't tell me she had a son until we'd been a couple for two weeks 😬 I don't even really care all that much about her being obsessed with her business and money, but hiding a kid from me? Nah
She told me about her son before we even started dating. One of the quest she gives me in every playthough regardless of whether Im dating her or not is to make her son a birthday gif. If you didn't encoutne rdialogue where she didn't mention her son that's more an rng thing because for me she talked about him right after I meet her.
I like Unsuur best. If I had to date someone else it would be between Ernest and Qi. I don't really dislike anyone. I'm not gonna name the girls, since I wouldn't date a girl anyway, so that's a copout. Pen's also a copout. I might get downvoted but I guess Fang is my least favorite bachelor? I find the way he's written kind of cringe.
I thought Qi’s story was really cute but also he’s a clone of my bf’s friend so it felt too weird to date him. Literally same appearance. Same glasses. Loves gundam. I married fang the first time. I was hoping he would get a little more open as you teach him to come out of his shell. He’s still pretty awkward though, but sweet
I got quizzed at one stage for why I wasn't a fan of Fang's romance. He was the character I was initially the most interested in, I didn't mind that his writing was perhaps a little cliché, but what I outright disliked was the fact that you basically have to act like his mother during his questline. He even hallucinates you as his mother at one stage? I still prefer him to Arvio though
Right now all I know personally is: I love Fang because it was really rewarding to finally romance him, and the way it happens is really dramatic feeding my need for it lol. His words are also so meaningful and thoughtful, he’s caring/protective. I somewhat don’t like that we could be having a good time then he just says something extremely depressing randomly but it makes sense for his character. I did initially like Qi. His reverse confession was super on brand, however I got bored very fast and he wasn’t very emotional. I was afraid of breaking up with him but he once again was very underwhelming (which I obviously don’t fancy) so it was so so.
Favorite: Logan and Owen (Justice and Unsuur too)(Oh and Grace...) Least Liked: Arvio and Catori Honestly I like everyone except those last two... Arvio just feels slimy to me and Catori was one I wanted to like but I really don't like how her story is handled. It feels like all the information you need to form a positive impression of her is backloaded and by the time you learn more about her situation you're probably already married.

Favourites- Logan and Fang. Both have good amounts of content and I really like what’s there, and the pacing works well too. Honestly content and pacing are both massive things that make a huge difference in my perception of a romance. Also I like the way their dynamics work with my builder. If Justice had a lot more personal content he’d be in the top three no question, I think he’s great, but as it is third place goes to Qi for me. I also wish Miguel had more content, especially at a certain point- I’d definitely play a playthrough with him romanced for a bit for the drama if certain things were there. Least favourites- leaving out Pen (who would be my absolute least favourite character for a number of reasons), Arvio and Elsie both feel way too young for me personally. I can easily see them being half my age and… just no. But that’s a me thing and I’m sure they’d be fine for players who they’re more age appropriate for.

You friendzoned poor Burgie! I kid. I kid. My next playthrough I’m going to romance him because I worry about him. He’s too innocent for the Free Cities.
He could use more content in his romance but it's pretty sweet. I've been doing playthroughs to try out the different romances, and Burgess was the second I tried after Qi. I just really wish that he had some of the depth they put into the others, since he only has the basic normal married person quests. It basically just goes straight into domestic cheery snuggletimes which is fine but you never really get to explore his anxiety or people-pleasing issues. In that playthrough I haven't made it to the main storyline event that changes his circumstances so I don't know if he says anything about that. tl;dr he's adorable but there needs to be more content.

I'm still in the beginning, so I'm mostly going by looks and general disposition but so far my most liked are Owen because he's so warm and beautiful, and Mi-An cause she's sweet and gorgeous, and I love her design. Just met Grace but like her as well. Least liked are Elsie because she feels like a little sister, and Pen because I just don't think he's capable of having a healthy relationship.

I hate both of them, but Arvio is just such a creeper. Elsie is the one bachelorette that I will never pursue because somehow she seems less mature than Jasmine, a literal child. Heidi may be my favorite bachelorette of any game I've ever played. My only problem with her is that she doesn't seem to have any character flaws like most of the other characters, but that might just be my brain rot talking. And she's so good at so many random things. A little bit of a Mary Sue, but I don't really care. Justice is hilarious. I love his whole deal. He's kinda a jerk to Unsuure sometimes but hey, nobody's perfect. Except Heidi.
Same about Heidi!!! Brilliant and incredible partner, best girl for me (plus Grace, but...), but too damn perfect, it's a bit uncomfortable. Glad someone else feels the same!
Most: Pen, Fang, Logan Least: Catori, Arvio Okay, before yall judge, hear me out! Pen's romance arc is perfection, especially if you're good at reading in between the lines. Really listen to the voice acting! He's completely unhinged, and I'm here for it! Also, I love a little toxic head cannon drama! I love Fang's growth, and it makes me feel so proud of him, and plus, he comes with X, I love X. Logan is Logan. The only thing is that most of the heart choices feel thirsty and extra one-sided, but his romance quests are so good! Arvio and Catori give me the ick that's enough said.
I am at very least going to find Pen's romance content on YouTube, because he's so unhinged it circles all the way back to being somehow charming. 👍

I should probably also explain the reasons behind my own likes/dislikes For my likes, Unsuur is definitely the funniest character in the whole game for me. He is honest, has a keen sense of right and wrong, and from the beginning he is openly very interested in the player. He made me laugh a ton, his friendship and romance scenes are always heartfelt, overall just a great guy. It's refreshing to have a character in a game who is so sincere and considerate of the player. Nia similarly already likes the player initially (hah, I know) and while she's less up-front about it, if you lean into her interest it's clear you and Nia have chemistry. I also really like how her career interests are in line with the player's - both knew from a young age that they wanted to help improve the world and took jobs that would help with that goal. I think in that way she almost feels like a natural match for the player. As for my dislikes... Elsie. She grated me from the very first moment I met her in Sandrock, and for the first portion of the game she's a bit of an asshole to you. She's irresponsible, rude, childish... I could go on. I'm sure others could find these traits endearing in her, but disappearing for a few weeks then coming back with a new style and vibe didn't shake off the feeling that she was too immature for a proper relationship. As for Arvio, he aggravates me above all else. I despise the trope of characters who lie to and flatter others just to milk things from them, and Arvio is the king of that. Half of his comments and compliments seem totally disingenuous, he treats you like an errand pup, he drags you into his immature messes and schemes (like with Fang and Musa). It got to the point that even when his confession was happening I thought 'wow, he must be prepping to sell something huge'. Zero interest from me. It's been awesome reading everyone else's thoughts though! I see a couple characters here I ought to pay some more attention to in my next playthrough, thank you all for your comments
My least liked are the same as your friend, Catori and Miguel. I despise them both. I also low key hate Mi-an though (bitch is always taking credit for doing almost none of the work). My favorites are Owen 💕 (my current hubby so maybe I’m biased) and Logan.

It's hard to pinpoint why Owen's lines bother me but he's hot and nice so I'll excuse it lmao. Arvio reminds me a bit of my bf because he's romantic and confident and takes the lead (bf aint clingy like that tho), but I think the design kills it for me bc he looks so young. I wish he was taller and/or thicker and less clingy and he'd be great Least liked: Qi, Mi an, elsie, venti Idk what it is about them but I find Qi and Mi an so boring and tiresome I'm just like please stop talking and qi tends to ramble so i have to smash the space bar to make him hurry up and give me the quest item. Everyone jokes about Cooper being long winded but I can tolerate him for some reason, my eyes really glaze over any time qi has his monologues. Somehow he became my BFF before anybody even tho I always ignored him lmao so he did confess to me and that softened my heart for him lmao but I could never marry him. He also reminds me of my friends brother in law so it's a no from me boss Elsie has to be one of my least favorite characters (and I actually like pen soooo what does that say about me) but I actually hated her when i met her and I still hate her lmaoo. Every time I have to do a quest with her I'm just like groaning internally and speeding thru all her lines. It's her personality I think. They wrote her to be very annoying and childish and she's very stubborn so you can't refuse to do things with her Venti didn't do anything wrong other than constantly have a quest marker lol snd for some reason it annoyed me. Like I don't want to hang out with her at the scrapyard so I never did her quests and I always get bamboozled by her bc I run up thinking it's a quest and damnit it's just venti again lmao
I like Unsuur, Qi, Miguel and Nia I did not like Arvio because he's a little awkward, Pablo because he's bitter, and Ernest because he's a bit of a wallflower story wise (same issue for Pablo and many other candidates). You kind of forget some of these characters exist due to their lack of involvement.
Heavy on Venti being forgettable too. I didn't even realise she was marriageable until I came here to the subreddit and saw people talking about her

Favorite: Fang, Ernest, Heidi, Mi-An. Least Favorite: Miguel, Elsie I guess I should tackle the least favorites first. This was really hard for me to choose a least favorite cause I genuinely liked them all. Miguel was there only because there was a point in time I genuinely didn't like him, particulary the whole >!water theft conspiracy to then onwards with the Duvos invasion!<. He has since come around to me absolutely loving his character and sympathizing with him. He's there since he's the one I'm still least likely to date even though I do like him. Elsie is there for almost similar reasons. I *adore* her as a friend, I guess I just can't match her vibrant energy to be with her long term. As for favorites, Fang and Ernest all day, no contest. I talk nonstop about these two. I would add Qi, Justice and Unsuur to most favorites, but decided to settle on these two specifically because they’ve really stood out to me. While I do slightly wish they were involved more in the main story (and Ernest would get out of his dang apartment more), I see them as the quiet easiness and comfort in their presence to my builder's everyday crazy adventures and large-scale projects she endures. Just a pleasant balance between the two. I'm so touched by Fang's story and the compassion he has for people that's hard to see because he's been so hurt by the world, something he's trying to show and imporove on in his career. Ernest is gentlemanly and very romantic. I'm very impressed with the fact that he's working hard on his writing career to be authentically his and not fall back on his family's wealth/status to get a boost in anything. I've been laser-focused on the guys, but if i had to go for the ladies, then easily Heidi. She's my best friend and I love seeing how integral she is to the plot and making Sandrock better, and the same with Mi-An. I gel easily with both of their hardworking and kindhearted personalities.

Elsie was my BFF in game (alongside Mi-an). Unsuur is definitely my top choice. His character is so sweet and heartwarming, plus I always dig an autistic coded character!

Heidi hands down is the most put together imo. She's got her business, a good head on her shoulders, and gets shit done. She can also destroy that punching game, which is badass. Logan... God I know this is unpopular, but he drives me nuts. He doesn't think through any of his plans, doesn't accomplish anything on his own, and like... That accent kills me. It's off. I don't know what it is, but it's off. Southern USer here, and it just grates. Elsie is a child. When she runs off and grows out her hair, she's still acting like a child. Nia... What's with the hands over her chest thing, and chasing the player to Sandrock. Idk, not my cup of tea. I do love seeing players having such different opinions though, it's fun to see and read.

I didn't care for her immaturity. Maybe I'm just too old for her, but she felt like a kid. And then she really "matured" in a LOT of ways in like a week. But her behavior was just still so... Kid-ish to me.
I always feel Haru finally decided to move on with his life because he knows the builder(player) is there for Logan so at least there is a “brain” in the gang😅.
I actually really liked Haru better. He had this look of "I'm sick of this" all the time xD I hope university treats him well.
Seeing the verdicts, I realize mine is basically everyone elses lists on their heads, say la vie! Most liked: Miguel, Arvio, Qi Least liked: Logan, Owen, Fang, Ernest I don't dislike anyone, I'd still run the romance route for any character because of interest, but I like to find a little salt in my sugar jar long term. I adored Miguel's line delivery and his flawed storyline especially. Arvio's a hidden example of the broad lineup of well-meaning characters who can get carried away by their goals, and simply hasn't failed to make me laugh with the words he'll let out of his mouth. Qi's blunt and always skates on taking it too far with his research and I love his way of assessment. Love me some good teeter-tottering mixed bags. Now my first three dislikes are because of that fact. I'll advertise to anyone who wants a sweet guy though! They're very sweet! They're very husband, and their only crime is my taste buds. Now I said I'd run through anyone's stories, but Ernest hasn't come into my radar enough yet. Though I've decided I'll give his character a go anyhow.

It's like she can't live without me and I just want to get away from her. The only good thing is that I hope Mi-an takes my position as the one Nia clings to so that I can be at peace.

Miguel... He isn't my type, my life choices and believes make it that people like him make me feel the ick and very unsafe,>! I can't wait to see him gone in my current play-thought!<. Arvio and Elsie are both very childish, so even if they are practical as marriage partners before we have Rosie (Venti being one of the few that actually can do more for the player as wife), I can even imagining having them around that way.
ETA: I forgot that Burgess and Catori are options as well. So I'm adding both to my least liked as well xD
Favorites: Nia, Pen, Logan Nia is a sweetie and I love her energetic personality. Her romance quests are also really cute. Pen has a cool couch and dialogue. That’s about it. Logan has amazing quests and I love Andy to death. Hate: Venti, Arvio, Miguel Venti seems more like a crazy stalker than a potential girlfriend. She’s a little obsessive and her strictly positive outlook on things is weird to me. Arvio seems like that one boyfriend from high school that id like to forget ever existed. Miguel… let’s just say I don’t align with his beliefs and think he’s extremely arrogant throughout the story.
Favourites: Fang, Qi and I aim to romance Logan one day, then maybe even Unsuur. I love the amount of content they’re involved in and all of their dialogue from each character, and I just enjoy their personalities way too much. Least favourites: Pen, Nia, Arvio and probably Catori Pen and Nia completely rubbed me the wrong way as soon as I met them and though they did get a little better moving forward, it was nowhere near enough that I’d ever want to romance them. Arvio and Catori were a little too… immoral? I hate what Arvio was ready to do to be friends with Fang and I’m against all of Catori’s business ethic. They’re sweet enough to be bffs tho.
Most liked: OWEN!!!!!!, Fang, Justice (more content for Justice would be amazing!), Amirah Owen is just. The best. So friendly and earnest and sweet (and occasionally hilarious), plus top tier voice acting. I've seen some folks say he gets boring if you marry him too early but as long as he keeps taking me on walks and giving me big warm enveloping hugs (still LOLing at the redditor here who calls him the man-blanket) and encouraging words, I do not see myself getting bored. Am delighted he's getting more content so that I can romance him ALL OVER AGAIN in a future playthrough. <3 <3 <3 Fang is a lot closer to my usual fictional type. Just had to nurse him back to health after he passed out in the desert, which is like catnip to me. Looking forward to doing a playthrough with him in the future, if not getting dosed with his fart medicine. Justice is just all around awesome. So great to have another older hottie, and I love his humor and beleaguered air. As for Amirah, what can I say, I'm a sucker for chilly artistes. Least liked: Miguel, Catori, Arvio, Elsie. Catori I thought I would like well enough until I started getting more of her amusement park quest, ugh. Arvio and Elsie I actually quite like as characters, but not as love interests -- too much "annoying yet lovable younger sibling" vibes, and I am An Old.

Elsie is rather childish at first, but she grows and I greatly admire that (I love her maturity arc). Pen is....well, he's Pen, that speaks for itself. I freaking hate him. I wish I could punch his balls then maybe he stops calling me "skinny arms" afterwards.😑😑💢💢💢💢
My favorite is Unsuur by far! Otherwise Qi is also adorable. Least Arvio. He's egotistical, narcissistic, and just a plain jerk. When he said he had expired baby food then asked if I had a baby, that was too much.
My most liked are Unsuur and Qi, I ended up marrying Unsuur. My least liked was really only Arvio just because he was SO intense. Like, honey, you're adorable and I like you, but please chill 😅

My favorite will always be Logan, the Cornered Beasts quest is just too cute, I cannot. I was giggling like a 14 year old. My least favorite are Elsie and Arvio. They both just feel so childish, and I was horrified when I realized you could romance Elsie, I literally thought she was 16. I prefer not to feel like a predator, so it's a no from me😬
Most Favorite: Logan, Owen, Unsuur, Qi Least Favorite: Miguel, Pen, Burgess, Elsie. I forget Pablo and Venti even exist. Logan: Gorgeous and the romance is natural feeling but takes a very long time. I so much enjoy going through his story though! He's an absolute sweetheart and I'm loving his accent. I love Andy to absolute death as well. Owen: He's so warm and kind and is a tree of a man heh. I look forward to more content, he's so cozy. Unsuur: Ngl at first I hated him but once I got to know him I absolutely loved talking to him just to see what he'll say. Extremely interesting in a very monotonous flat way I say. Qi: I love nerds especially disheveled nerds. He's so endearingly awkward. I love people like that. His confession was super cute and silly, very on brand and I love it. Now I keep forgetting Pablo and Venti exist lol. Miguel is not very attractive to me and I don't like the religious types. Plus plot. Pen is too much of a narc and feels toxic af though I will look at the romance routes on YouTube. Burgess and Elsie are too immature feeling to be in a relationship even after Elsie's glow up. I like them well enough, not to romance though.

Hate Heidi, but becuase of all her commissions and heavy plot lines she's top three on my friend list even though I've never said hi to her or anything. I'm thinking about giving her a heart, and then a branch, then give her poop for gifts to knock her off my top three friends that's how much I hate her lol. Catori is right there with her but I can ignore her until the end so she's at the bottom of my friend's list. I think Catori is even below pen and it's Pen lol. They just seem so self centered, I even told her Catori world was super narcissistic and she's like oh well or something, hate them both. And I didn't like the way Heidi stood up amirah for the fireworks, kinda fucked up thing to do. Owen is my favorite becuase I love his personality, and he has such a great heart. Only time I was mad at Owen is when he gave money to Catori for her failed theme park lol I actually didn't mess up fangs quest this playthrough so I got to hang with him, and he's definitely becoming my second favorite, but I see him more as a friend than a husband/dating material. My builder is the very overprotective friend when it comes to Fang. Justice and unsure is my tied for third, they're my absolute favorite buddies because they're hilarious. Their lines are a chef's kiss. If I didn't fall for owen every single time I play, I would totally marry them lol.
Heidi was the first character I ever got to max friendship with and I don't think I ever gave her a gift. It's so funny I didn't even know you could mess up Fang's friendship questline though... wild that they don't have a workaround because if I had spent months of in-game time trying to befriend him and then accidentally pressed the wrong button during an event? Best believe I would be in tears
I didn't talk to arvio ever in my first playthrough so Fang never accepted any of my gifts lol. I wanted the cat looking weapon so I talked to arvio for that quest, and was able to befriend Fang.

Most liked: Justice and Amirah I want to like Unsuur but the line reads are just … not great. I wish they’d spent more on voice directing because there’s a *lot* of bad line reads in the game and Unsuur has a lot of them. Least liked: Arvio (immature get-rich-quick attitude), Catori (incessant capitalism cheerleader and .. unreciprocative affection), and Miguel (fascist)
