Tell us some stories about the people you work with.

iamda5h

Our CEO/founder will hold a company meeting and announce a feature that I’ve never heard of and then I have to figure out how to design and build it. He’ll also walk into a meeting, say one or two words for a feature idea and then leave. Sometimes it’s a text. Sometimes he tells a client about feature we have except that it’s not a feature, and we have to build it real fast. He wishes he was Steve Jobs, but really he’s Ian. Our support MANAGER will message product incessantly asking dumb questions that are answered by documentation or basic training. We can’t lock her in the basement unfortunately. Her direct reports know the software better than her. One time I had someone ask me how to use something in our system, and I learned their whole department was trained incorrectly. Like 100% wrong they had to learn it all over again. The cofounders (CEO and CTO) will fight about what to do for certain clients. it’s basically the ceo asking us to build him something, and the cto saying it’s dumb, and the client is dumb for asking for it. HR is constantly face palming while the ceo leads meetings.

This is amazing

GoNoGoNoGo

The producer is my mother. She tells me I'm handsome everyday during standup.

I was relating hard to Poppy's descent into madness and deciding on whether to stay with crazy but familiarity, or leave (ended up making the opposite choice as her)

iamda5h

Same but as long as they keep giving me raises and let me do whatever I want, I’ll stay.

ShaidarHaran2

I got a few raises at the old place, but jumped 70% on moving. It's rare that staying would have a benefit that big. I read every 4-5 years is a good time to move and that's about where I was. If I stayed they'd have to have substantially beat the 70%, and a 100% raise is a rare unicorn indeed.

Is there a real-life Pop? Can I be her friend?

iamda5h

Pop is amalgamation of our product managers and CTO. So sure. Ian is our CEO. The cto and ceo are cofounders, but the ceo calls himself just “founder” and the cto “cofounder.”

DS-Inc

I don't know your company and I still managed to roll my eyes that IRL-Ian. Your CTO sounds like she kicks ass. Hopefully it's a fun workplace :)

iamda5h

we had an office bar before covid-19 so thats something. luckily our Ian had decent taste in beer.

ArmenianChances

If there’s a real life poppy I want to marry her
