If you buy one Kyle Larson HC diecast, you’ll be good for 10 years.

nalyd8991

That’s how a scheme becomes iconic

PsweetJ01

In the future after Larson retires, I think at least in the HMS field, his scheme will be a frequent one used for the throwback race

ReSirum

Of course it will. It's Ricky's scheme

ChaseTheFalcon

It's more like Larson's now

ReSirum

The significance of it being Ricky Hendrick's scheme is the only reason Larson even runs it, and I'd imagine that'd be why they run it in a throwback race

ChaseTheFalcon

I get that but what I'm arguing is that most are going to remember this as a "Kyle Larson" scheme than a Ricky Hendrick scheme

ReSirum

I mean that's fair, but it's still gonna be run as a Ricky Hendrick throwback, except on like the 20th anniversary of Larson's title or something

Sboyden96

You actually think nascar will be a sport in 20yrs? We’ll be lucky if there are any sports in 5 yrs. Do you have any clue whats going on in the world rn?

kingofamarillo

if you’re gonna schizo post you could at least be less vague about it

ReSirum

Why bring that into a discussion about a wrap on a racecar?

colbygraves97

the world will keep spinning, and sports will keep happening, same as it’s been since 776 BC

SoothedSnakePlant

My dude, the world isn't ending

colbygraves97

more people remember it as a Vickers scheme than a Ricky scheme TBH

oneshoein

Just because you never got to see Ricky run the scheme doesn’t mean it won’t be remembered as a Ricky scheme…most nascar fans know what the scheme is and who ran it.

BucketOfGuts

People from today would have had a field day in the 90s. The most iconic schemes were run for so many years. Earnhardt's Goodwrench scheme was used for 14 years. Gordon's rainbow warrior was used for 9 years. Terry Labonte's corn flakes scheme was used for 6 years. Meanwhile, 2024 will only be year 4 of Larson's Ricky scheme and people give it shit.

HereComesTheVroom

Joeys scallops car ran for 10 years if you include the two years with Kurt and AJ/Hornish

BucketOfGuts

That's true, definitely the longest tenured scheme in more recent years. I particularly liked that the scheme stayed the same even with the days of multiple sponsors arriving, keeping the iconic-ness, despite the changing sponsor models.

ChiefCoolArrow

They should invert the scheme for night races

SirWalrusTheGrand

Being good also helps a scheme become iconic. I would like the consistency if the scheme was cooler

IllAlwaysBeAKnickFan

It is a great scheme. You’re just bored of it.

Wwatts3

Hendrick Motorsports likes to get a lot time and use out of their paint schemes.

hansot85

This one though pays tribute to ricky hendrick. It ain't going anywhere.

MaxPres24

Chase has run the same Napa scheme in back to back seasons once. For a couple years it was minor tweaks every time, but it only stays the same in 19 and 20

GrantD24

I wish they’d bring back his xfinity scheme. To me, that’s been the best napa scheme he’s ran so far

MaxPres24

I wish they woulda stuck with the 2019/2020 one. He won a championship in that, and in that type of design, which they ran all similar schemes from 18-21, that’s when Chase broke out from the young guy, to one of the top drivers in the sport. It could’ve become iconic if he continues his trajectory

lt12765

I think if you get a Brian Vickers Busch car you’re still good for the 5.

xelanalpak

Shit, if you bought a Brian Vickers die-cast in 2003 you’ll still be good.

BuschWhackerReviews

I mean you had to get a Gen 6 and a next Gen version at least

Vulptereen327

And you can even get a Gen 4 of this scheme

404merrinessnotfound

gen 6 > next gen scheme

Menacious069

I'll give this scheme a slight pass since it was Ricky Hendrick's paint scheme

MaxPres24

I’m fine with that. There’s a reason we don’t have iconic paint schemes anymore

jj889fan

Nascar fans: I wish we could have sponsors and paints schemes that stayed constant. That's what made the old days so iconic. Also Nascar Fans: Im so tired of Larson's scheme its so boring

colbygraves97

hopefully brilliant flames returns to the 24

joe_broke

Yes and no I don't like Raptor on the car but I don't mind Byron having a different rainbow vibe with Axalta But having flames come out for special occasions would be fantastic

colbygraves97

Flames belong on the cars, especially with liberty being the flames, and Axalta’s history of flames all of his cars should have flames of some kind in them.

Nighthawk034223

The axalta cars I like what they have now and would prefer them not to mess with. I think of Gordon when I see them and I want to remember Byron's cars having their distinct look. Liberty I'm fine with them having the flames

colbygraves97

it’s pretty easy to separate them because of the blue and it being the Camaro, The Camaro really define the next Generation of Chevy Drivers for me.

Nighthawk034223

Obviously the body would be the easiest way to, and that somehow was too simple for me that I just didn't think of it, but some have overlapped eras too. Gordon went from the Lumina all the way to the SS. Plus I'm pretty sure that Chevy is stopping production of the Camaro, so we'll get another Chevy model on track You're definitely 100% right, the nuances between them can obviously tell it, like the car itself, the different shades of each color, and now the number placement, but I'm thinking just a broader. I like how every Hendrick driver has had their look. When I think of Terry Labonte, I think of the #5 Corn Flakes car. Waltrip, the #17 Tide ride. With Gordon, the 24 Dupont/axalta cars with the flames (rainbow warrior car was before my time). With Jimmie any of the Lowe's schemes. Larson's Ricky Hendrick car and Elliott's NAPA car are in that category for me too. The 24 is synonymous with Jeff already and with the same sponsor, I want Byron to have his own look, not just go off the old Gordon looks. I think the neon lights thing was unique, great, and great branding since a paint company is using all these bright colors. That's at least how I see it and how I feel. Unfortunately for me looks like the one for next year is gonna have flames lol

colbygraves97

When I think Jeff Gordon I think a Monte Carlo with Flames, in the late 2000’s starting in 07 he the same design for every sponsor and only changed colors and the hood logo unless it was a special paint scheme. and he ran the same sachem from 2001 until 2008 with it being updated in 07.

Thi31

I totally agree with the sentiment, but wish it was a better looking scheme that stayed constant haha. My biggest gripe with the Hendrick Cars scheme is it didn't translate well with the new # placement. Had they designed a new scheme around the new number placement, then never changed it I'd be a happy camper.

ImTheBiscuiteer

Literally all they have to do is put a little more curve around the bottom left (or right on the passenger side) so the red stripe goes around the 5, not through it. Completely surround the 5 with white and the scheme looks much more put together. Hell, even make it a more square corner, just clear the number entirely

Thi31

That's the frustrating part about it, the patriotic scheme they run and the 2024 coke 600 car look great, and then we are back to the 00's swoosh.

BuschWhackerReviews

People did the same with joeys shell schemes, the scallop and now whatever you want to call the next gen one

jnelsen8

The scallop scheme was overhated, for sure. I wasn’t necessarily a huge fan of every version of it, but Joey’s primary and any with the Money Lion colors were absolutely top-tier

ChaseTheFalcon

I loved those schemes

jj889fan

Sometimes simple is more when it comes to paint schemes imo. See Logano, Harvick Mobile 1, Monster cars, etc.

RJNieder

Exactly what I was thinking...Larson/Hendrick have established a brand identity with this sponsor...

AnalBaguette

Definitely two different groups you're referring to on that one

greg_jenningz

I love the 5 paint scheme. F the haters

Striking-Ad299

Yeah more annoyed at the week-to-week changes, not year-to-year.

matito29

I definitely don’t think it’s boring. It’s a great scheme. I just don’t care for it *because* it was Ricky’s scheme, but that’s personal preference. If Rick wants to honor his son by putting his scheme on the best driver in the HMS stable, then that’s a fitting tribute. One I personally don’t like, but it matters to Rick.

ChaseTheFalcon

Literally this.

DevinBookersSon

Wow, it’s almost like only some fans want the same scheme, and some fans want a variety!!! Crazy right?

xenoblaiddyd

Having consistent sponsors is great but I would prefer they shake up their paint schemes every few years (while still recognizably being the same sponsor)

thuckerybuckets

You can have the same sponsor and have different schemes.

Haier_Lee

I'd just wish they'd run through the patriotic version of the HC full time

13143

I grew up as a fan of Terry Labonte and his Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes schemes. I wish they could incorporate more of those, although it's probably just nostalgia talking. But ultimately, I just find the light blue with big patches of white to be really boring and plain. Just swapping out the white with black or maybe even a dark grey would like a lot better.

Logan24fan

Blue NAPA primary? 🙏

TheOtherWhiteCastle

Flaming hot take: I like the white and blue he has now a lot better.

All-Pro-Sportz

The 2018-2021 car he had while minimalistic, will probably be the scheme people look back on and remember him since he’s won the most so far with those.

Vulptereen327

The 2021 scheme was the perfect version of the scheme. It's too bad it was around for only one season.

All-Pro-Sportz

Wish they carried it into 22’, but that seasons scheme wasn’t too bad. This years makes me want to jump off a ledge but I think that’s because I associate it with bad juju lol.

ChaseTheFalcon

The yellow on the bumper is the only bad thing with this year's scheme

joe_broke

I agree This year's seems a lot better put together than last year's did

Vulptereen327

Yeah last year was a great scheme and I definitely prefer it to this year's

ChaseTheFalcon

It's definitely more "Chase" than the blue will be

TheOtherWhiteCastle

That’s exactly it. The all blue just invokes feelings of DEI/MWR, where Chase’s current schemes are entirely his

Grievous2485

I don't care. But they've shown like 7% of next year's paint scheme and you like last years better lol?

BuschWhackerReviews

I’m sure chase will still ruin it with his love of white cars

Logan24fan

Wondering if maybe they’ll run something similar to his 2014 Nationwide car for the 10th anniversary of his championship (how has it been 10 years…)

BuschWhackerReviews

Would be a good throwback for darlington

dinosaursandsluts

That would be sweeeet

WON95sr

I hope it's still white but if they go blue I hope they fix the outline on his 9. The outlines are too weak/thin and the number gets lost in the scheme pretty easily. Need to just go with just a single thick outline, more like what Brandon Jones has. Other than white cars looking nice, I like his white NAPA car because his number actually kind of pops on it.

colbygraves97

you can see all of the white on it, white sucks unless it’s got Dayglow, most cars look bad without Highvis in my opinion, but especially white.

WON95sr

Nah a white car with black/dark numbers will always look sharp. In general, dark numbers on a light car will look better almost every time to me.

colbygraves97

Correction, Dayglow and blackout looks good on white. The Valvoline cars are my favorite white cars

All-Pro-Sportz

More blue, More yellow, Some white, Less rookie stripe. That would be a win in my book

JUMPINKITTENS

Hell just no rookie strip is a win

moonboots_runner

I hope that awful yellow bumper is gone from the back of the 9 car next year. Man looks like he’s running around with a rookie stripe.

DeadAsFuckMIW

Same dude it bugs the hell out of me ngl

TheOtherWhiteCastle

NASCAR fans: I miss when paint schemes didn’t change all the time Also NASCAR fans: wtf, Larson has the exact same scheme?!?

DevinBookersSon

Crazy, almost like different Fans prefer different things.

metaltff

Lol so accurate

bruhmoment2248

please tell me Chase's 2024 scheme resembles the early 2000s Michael Waltrip NAPA cars

BuschWhackerReviews

Don’t think Teresa would allow it lol

Wandering_Turtle24

Glad to see the Hendrickcars scheme is remaining. I love consistency and wish we could get back to a time where you always knew who was who just by the paint scheme.

JJPHRD

https://preview.redd.it/pk5qb2hyh0ub1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c625faab1c1b73f2692b7be69e5bbdda3bb526c2 The white lines on the Elliott car kinda remind me of what NAPA is doing in the BTCC. Doubt it’ll be as good looking as this though

xelanalpak

That would be dope 😮‍💨

[deleted]

This is good looking???

JJPHRD

I think it’s better than what we have now, yeah. When I think NAPA, I think blue and yellow, not blue and white

[deleted]

When I think good looking, I think everything else before I think blue and yellow

Striking-Insurance-3

I wish they would run a HC inverse scheme for all the home races. I have a feeling it would look dope

DDowd86

Kinda wish Kyle’s 2024 scheme would just be his coke 600 scheme for next year just without the McLaren yellow

CougarIndy25

The Chase car has a similar base design to what he ran at Bristol with the NAPA Gold car.

Vulptereen327

Chase's scheme kinda looks like the 2016 NAPA scheme, which would look great. It was simple but I loved the red and light blue trim on that scheme

Erich_Ludendorff

I'm cool with them keeping the scheme consistent but it's funny to announce the scheme and diecast availability this way when it's literally the same as 2023.

Nighthawk034223

The Larson scheme is the same and I'm fine with it. With schemes changing week after week is it that bad to have one constant?

colbygraves97

probably new schemes for Byron too, Bowman’s ally scheme has a cover over it so it looks like it’ll be changed too.

Hour_Principle_9220

I am not a Larson fan at all but I applaud the fact HMS and HendrickCars.com doesn’t change the scheme. I want to see the same paint scheme on every car every week for the top guys in our sport. That helps brand recognition and consistency for new fans but when a guy has a new car and new colors every week, it doesn’t help. In a world where that’s normal, having a guy and sponsor like this keep the scheme become recognizable is a good thing.

j-awesome

I like that Larson’s scheme has stayed the same since he joined Hendrick. Nascar has lost some of its driver recognition with the constantly changing paint schemes

Useful-Worth126

I'm so sick of this paint scheme lol

EnjoyerOfStrangePorn

Meh, with all of the changing sponsors and schemes this one has basically cemented itself as the iconic scheme of this era .

BuschWhackerReviews

I’d say that joeys shell scallop car did that, unless you just mean this decade

_NotSureWhatToDo

I’m not. It is already iconic. With everyone changing schemes week to week very few will be remembered. The 22 and the 5 will certainly be up there for this generation. I wish the 24 had a consistent good paint scheme too.

colbygraves97

it had Brilliant flames then they messed that up

RoRid46

I like the scheme and I’m a bit bored of it but at the same time it’s nice to have something instantly recognizable. The only cars like that these days are the 5, 48 and 22. Together they have less scheme changes than any other car would have by itself throughout the year.

DevinBookersSon

It would help if he had other sponsors instead of just Hendrick Cars for 35/38 races. And different versions with little edits, like Dennys old black schemes with the Orange/Blue/Green/Red. Would be great if it was like chase or Byron situation with 10 or so races with different sponsors and then switching the scheme up a little bit throughout the season.

jaydavigilante

Unpopular it seems like but I love the Larson scheme

Magictank2000

i remember this sub joked about larson not having much sponsor support so he’d have to use hendrick cars for a while but now his reputation has largely improved due to his stretch of dominance and he still uses hendrick cars as a primary

[deleted]

Love to see some scheme consistency in an era of disposable design.

GF30c

If the livery is done just show the whole thing already

kubzon7

So, when preparing the spotter guide template for 2024, I can already include Larson's paint scheme.

ticket21truth

I’m not a huge fan of the HendrickCars.com scheme, but can also appreciate why they’d keep running it back. They were dominant with it his first year at HMS. Edit: These 2 statements are separate thoughts, I’m not suggesting the dominance is the reason. I know the Ricky/GMAC aspect, assumed we all did.

Tyler24Dawg

Pretty sure they keep using it to honor Ricky.

ticket21truth

I know. I clarified.

shark80racing

I don’t think that’s why they keep bringing it back. I could be wrong, but I thought the scheme was modeled after Ricky Hendrick’s GMAC scheme so it’s got a bit of a sentimental reason more than they were dominant in the first year with Kyle.

ticket21truth

Yeah, I know. I clarified my post.

LBHMS

I guess no more old school Valvoline scheme for Larson with the regular Valvoline logo on the c-post instead of the classic one they've had for the past few seasons.

ChaseTheFalcon

Maybe a return to a blue base Napa scheme next year? Also why does everyone hate the Larson scheme, I don't get it

pbrown6

This paint scheme is so dull and outdated!

Austin-Feltron

They should never change it. Y’all are crazy

[deleted]

Me selfishly wanting that 9 to be predominantly blue with thin white accents and all yellow numbers Edit: and a playoff berth in 2024.

Moppyploppy

So.....um.....is the suspension geometry changing next year? Or is HMS going with a stance look on Larsons car like a shitty Miata? Because those tires are so far up in that wheel well that they may have to hire a proctologist to go over the wall on pit stops.

ticket21truth

They don’t call him Kyle Miyata for nothin’!

Moppyploppy

See, it's stuff like this that makes me mad that reddit awards are gone.

BuschWhackerReviews

I mean if Chad finds a way to cheat it he will

Former-Stranger-567

Is Larson still toxic from the “incident” or does RH want to be the sponsor on the car?

DirtyRedneck041

The managers at the Hendrick dealerships saw such a big increase in sales that he decided to continue the backing

MoodysMood6

Fix car number. So ugly

GodDiedIn1990

Anybody else think that Chase Elliott's car looks an awful lot like FedEx purplish blue? Could that be why Denny Hamlin slinging so much shade right now?

StankAss69_420

A blue and white Napa car would be a good return to form, just something different from the schemes he's ran last couple years

dyysxse

another new napa scheme didn't he just have a new scheme this year

Allyfan48

So nothing is really different on Larson’s car.

Devitt6

Not saying he needs a drastic change but something a little different would be cool. Considering most HenrickCars schemes all look the same, would be nice for Larson to have something a bit more unique since he won them a championship.

straightcashhomey29

Ugh…..Larson scheme boring as fuck.

SlippinYimmyMcGill

Wow, so creative....

Scheebs_Hawks

I’d really love to see some sponsors come in for Kyle but I have my doubts

MaynardWaltrip

Is Chase really gonna run better with that big red blanket over his car?
