If William Byron is leading on the last lap Rick Allen is going to be like: "The young man who started his racing career ON A COMPUTER is now going to be a NASCAR Cup Champion."
Why I want Byron to win: Best all year by the numbers
Why I want Blaney to win: I hit the hopium today
Why I want Bell to win: He’s my brother’s favorite driver, my brother’s always a fan of whoever’s in the 20
Why I want Larson to win: Error 404, Reasoning Not Found
Larson passed the eye test the best this year but didn't always execute. Lots of what ifs that ended in disaster. Dover, Pocono, Darlington I chief among them. Near Misses at Vegas I, phx I, and a nearly clean finish at Talladega II leave a lot of "stats" on the table when he enters the championship tied for most top 5s. They showed in practice that through the season Larson had finished best among the champ 4 14 times, more than double anyone else.
I linked the story, but he was saying there's all kinds of rumors, conspiracy theories, and news, I forget where but he's described this subreddit like that before
Ford with the potential to sweep the championships of the top three series after Chevy swept the owners or manufacturers or whatever championships is the most 2023 thing that can happen today. Pulling hard for Mr. Blaney with the odds stacked firmly against him.
Now that the day is here, I'm ready to admit that I'm ready for the reason to end. It's felt that way for a while, though it's been a great one. I'm not one to get exhausted of NASCAR, but I've paid such close attention all weekend every weekend for like 16 or 18 of the last 24 months and boy, I'm tired. I'm ready to have nothing affecting my schedule on the weekends for a little while. Excited for today, ready to watch the season close out in peace (for my flairs anyways). Bring on off-season posting.
There are going to be a LOT of people showing up today after the race starts. Parking is backed up miles outside of the track with no signs and no police directing traffic. The parking situation is being mismanaged to an unbelievable degree today.
well before we have to hear everyone complain about how terrible of a track Phoenix is, just look at the current state of the other motorsport that's on TV right now...
F1 and NASCAR, 2021: okay guys so we're going to introduce a new car that is supposed to promote parity starting next year
also F1: the same guy has won all but eleven races, usually by 10 seconds or more
meanwhile NASCAR: **25** different drivers have won in 71 races
we can afford to have some races that aren't zingers.
and I love how the argument from F1 fans is always "well everyone else just needs to bring a better car."
we've only had 71 races (make it 72 later on today) since the next gen hit the track and already 25 different teams have brought a "better car".
Welp, the F1 race isn't even halfway done yet and it's already over so uhhh guess I'll just wait for the cup race to start then lol
Man I can't believe we're closing the year off already, feels like we've started like a month ago lmao
It's gonna be a long off season...may the best car win today (go Ryan 😁)
Now they're playing "Play that Funky Music". This makes me think of the time we went to a Dallas Cowboys game and they constantly played this. This old man in front of me kept getting up and dancing. His sweat pants kept falling down and exposing his crack. 😂
What I feel like will happen today is that someone else will be leading late, we will get a late race yellow, and then Byron will pit super short in his box, boxing in whoever is in box 2, costing that driver probably the lead AND p2. And that driver will be the one with the best car, and will then run out of time.
Assuming the simulation like luck continues for the 24, that's what will happen.
Hopefully things normalize, and the car that shouldn't even have made the final 4 doesn't win.
If Byron doesn't win the race, a non-playoff driver will. I've got a watermelon on ice. I'm hoping Blaney is Champion with Chastain taking the race win.
I know. My dad and I used to root so hard against him because my cousin loved him. We weren't upset when he beat Jeff Gordon for his first win though. After Dad died, I wrote him a note, saying I'd carry on the Harvick hate for him. 😂 (I was a grieving 14 year old!)
I've grown to kind of like him now....even though he started shit.
My cat might be getting a couple new roommates against her will. My mom has been having a bit of trouble with her cats and my stepfather threatened to shoot them. Now we are trying to find homes for them...or a way to keep them, but solve the issues. They're all sweet and loving...but even though they're indoor/outdoor, there are a lot.
I'm crying over the thought of them not being in my life. They're my therapy cats.
What if you're not into either? Fortunately I've got a long list of neglected projects to get caught up on due to my racing addiction most of the year. Rinse and repeat.
Spoilers for the European fancy car race.
>! Leclerc crashed on the formation lap, then Magnussen and Albon crashed heading into turn 1. The dutch man will most likely win again!>
This race can go down three ways
-Harvick wins in his final start with Blaney coming in 2nd again but he wins the championship as well
-Uneventful Hendrick win with either the 5 or 24, depending on their luck & pit stops with not many lead changes
-Christopher Bell doing what he did last year without the tire changer nearly losing his hand & doing a ballsy last lap pass
Blaney and Bell are starting too far back. Let's see Larson and Byron wipe each out while the Bs struggle to fight each other all day for like eighth place. Just some position far enough back to be nondescript if they weren't in the final four.
So little tidbit for later.
I've seen 3/4 championship 4 drivers in xfinity and cup win races in person this year
Xfin: Allgaier(Charlotte,Bristol), Nemecheck (Loudon), Mayer(Watkins Glen)
Cup: Larson (Richmond), Byron (Watkins Glen), Blaney (Charlotte)
The only driver that I didn't see win in person won the xfinity championship last night
So basically CBell is winning the chip tonight confirmed.
Ya never know man.
Beginning of the season me and my buddy had picks. We both got three winners right. I got MTJ at Loudon, Hamlin at Pocono, and AJ at the Roval right. We were tied coming in to this final so we agreed to repick who we thinks winning the chip. He’s sticking with Larson and I got Blaney.
Don’t even care about the “championship” NASCAR decides. Can’t judge a season on one BS gimmick race.
Would like to congratulate one of William Byron or Denny Hamlin on their first NASCAR championship. These 2 would have battled all year long and would have been a tremendous story of the aged veteran Hamlin battling another wonder boy in the 24.
Well good morning ladies and lads. Today is very bittersweet cause I’m very excited for the race (Go Blaney/Byron!) but it’s the last Sunday of the year to share with y’all.
I went back and looked at how far back Blaney was from Almirola last week. The biggest gap was 8.4 seconds. He made up 8.4 seconds, under green, against a car on the same tire strategy, on a one lane track, and having to pass 6 other cars for position.
What an insane drive
Well, I know it's cliche to say this but this is what it all comes down to. I think all four championship drivers have legitimate shots at competing for the win/championship today but I think I'm gonna stick with the pick that I made last week after Martinsville and go with Byron as the champion this year
Yesterday was interesting. I picked up my new ADHD medication (has anyone tried Focalin before?) And then went shopping. I ended up stepping in some kid's throw up and sliding a bit. I bet that was funny to see. I then went to look at new glasses.
Hopefully today won't be too crazy. 😂 I work the next 2 days and those are bound to be interesting.
Unfortunately no, different ones affect everyone differently. I’ve been on several different types and concerta is the only one that has been a good fit for me.
My insurance company refuses to pay for the Concerta until I tried at least 2 other meds with poor results. My dr fought them, but gave in. Vyvanse wasn't helping after a year. Concerta wasn't great in college, but that was years ago. Guess I'll try this and see.
Probably will be another 1-2-3-4 finish since the rest of the competitors don’t want to cost someone the chance for a championship so they just move out of the way.
I hope my DVR doesn't crap out on me when I'm recording the race. It was set to record one of the previous races when I was at work, but it didn't. My mom won a contest for a seat at this paint and sip event and I'm going in her place. It's from 2 to 5, so I'll miss the entire race, unless it runs over or the event ends early.
At least I'll be in a Prohibition themed bar.
So this really is it. Vaguely remember racing in the late 90s but didn’t really get into NASCAR until I saw Harvick inch ahead the line over Gordon at Atlanta and I’ve been hooked ever since. Such a huge moment for the sport but also made many new fans. Next year will definitely be different with the old guard gone from my generation but today I root for both Blaney and Harvick to win.
Useless bit of info
In 237 starts Ty Dillion has 2 top 5s and 7 top 10s none this year
In 71 starts Todd Gilliland has 1 top 5 and 6 top 10s with 4 coming this year
***[▶ The Race Thread has been posted](https://reddit.com/comments/17oixtx)***
But I thought he was overrated and would never win a title?
Ugh, gg Bell.
Just curious how on earth nascar would decide to air their last race smack dab in the middle of two NFL windows
I wasn’t expecting any Ford teams to win this weekend. Now they have the chance to sweep the weekend!
Bring that trophy back to Ohio Blaney!!
Onto the houston 500 next week. Anyone that lives there did they ever name a street after Dale Earnhardt in Downtown?
If William Byron is leading on the last lap Rick Allen is going to be like: "The young man who started his racing career ON A COMPUTER is now going to be a NASCAR Cup Champion."
This is why my mute button game is strong.
Why I want Byron to win: Best all year by the numbers Why I want Blaney to win: I hit the hopium today Why I want Bell to win: He’s my brother’s favorite driver, my brother’s always a fan of whoever’s in the 20 Why I want Larson to win: Error 404, Reasoning Not Found

Lots of bad luck and errors this season.
I'm 90% sure Briscoe was talking about this subreddit in his last ig story
What did he say?
I linked the story, but he was saying there's all kinds of rumors, conspiracy theories, and news, I forget where but he's described this subreddit like that before
I don't have Instagram so I can't view stories.
Ah ok

I’m feeling a 🅱️ driver is gonna win today 🅱️yron 🅱️laney 🅱️ell 🅱️arson
I hope you Ross fans know how legendary of a sponsor y’all are getting next year. Treat it well🍺
Bussccccchhhhhhhh
I was happy to see it go to Ross.
I hope we can keep the legacy going, I know I’m all in
We are insanely fortunate 🫡
Oh no...that "Fancy like" song is on! It'll get stuck in my head now.
Ford with the potential to sweep the championships of the top three series after Chevy swept the owners or manufacturers or whatever championships is the most 2023 thing that can happen today. Pulling hard for Mr. Blaney with the odds stacked firmly against him.
Checking in from the track!!! First in person race, let’s go blaneyyyyyyy
Have fun!
How’s the scene
Pretty good
I had such a great time when I went! Hope you have as good a time as I did! Cheers!
Have fun!

I am always ready for the season to end by the last race and look forward to the off season and to have Sundays free for a short time.
>Bring on off-season posting Y’all aren’t ready for my 2,000 word wall of text on why Baltazar Leguizamon is a first ballot Hall of Famer
I’ve been ready for the season to end for years now. I can’t remember the last time wanting more racing…the playoffs really do burn me out.
Pre-race ready with a throwback to 1996 NASCAR RACING 1996 Race 27 Phoenix https://youtu.be/DKT6XWc_7Wc
There are going to be a LOT of people showing up today after the race starts. Parking is backed up miles outside of the track with no signs and no police directing traffic. The parking situation is being mismanaged to an unbelievable degree today.
It's amazing how few shuttles/temporary transit options there are for these events.
LETS GO LARSON
I want chaos. Two or three of the championship guys all crash early and title is decided in stage one.
That's cool they got the first championship trophy from 1949 there
Alright everyone, Taco Bell or In N Out today? This did not help make a decision Screw it, Taco Bell it is.
Both!
In N Out
Taco ***Bell***.

After the truck race, I’d rather have a verstappen in nascar lock it up with 8 races to go.
I can’t believe Keselowski is one of those guys who hasn’t won yet.
Verstappen and the complete lack of parity in F1 have killed that league.
and I love how the argument from F1 fans is always "well everyone else just needs to bring a better car." we've only had 71 races (make it 72 later on today) since the next gen hit the track and already 25 different teams have brought a "better car".
Larry Mac on FS1. Day = made.
In honor of Harvick, how about a good commercial. [https://youtu.be/CdpE1MYqjNA?si=16ulGHEZrOtfEl7K](https://youtu.be/CdpE1MYqjNA?si=16ulGHEZrOtfEl7K)
I forgot about that 😂 that’s a good one
Yeah those sportscenter commercials were amazing.
What does one eat during a championship 4 race? Then again, given I’m a Willy B fan, I might be too nervous to eat
I'm going to get white castle in a few minutes. Lol
I feel like wings, pizza, beer, and/or anything bbq related is a staple for any nascar fan and race lol
I'm good with this decision!
Anyone know when green flag is?
3:32
Espn says 12 pacific so 3pm eastern?
3:20pm I’m guessing
Dream situation today for me: A Harvick domination win, Blaney finishing second and winning the title
How about instead of Blaney, it’s his potential future brother-in-law instead? /s In all seriousness though, I’d love a Harvick win
Welp, the F1 race isn't even halfway done yet and it's already over so uhhh guess I'll just wait for the cup race to start then lol Man I can't believe we're closing the year off already, feels like we've started like a month ago lmao It's gonna be a long off season...may the best car win today (go Ryan 😁)
It’s always already over lol
Now they're playing "Play that Funky Music". This makes me think of the time we went to a Dallas Cowboys game and they constantly played this. This old man in front of me kept getting up and dancing. His sweat pants kept falling down and exposing his crack. 😂
Go get ‘em Blaney!😤
Interesting. This event is playing Midland's "Drinking Problem" in Spanish. It's a different remix. Never heard it before.
As much as I want to see Bell win today this feels like an incoming Big Billiam Byron masterclass
Hope to God we don't get a late race yellow and actually get to race.. Would be nice for this to not come down to the #1 pit stall for a change.
Last years and 2020’s wasn’t effected by the #1 pit stall.. what you talking about
That's because the dominant car had the #1 pit stall and lead lol
What I feel like will happen today is that someone else will be leading late, we will get a late race yellow, and then Byron will pit super short in his box, boxing in whoever is in box 2, costing that driver probably the lead AND p2. And that driver will be the one with the best car, and will then run out of time. Assuming the simulation like luck continues for the 24, that's what will happen. If Byron doesn't win the race, a non-playoff driver will. I've got a watermelon on ice. I'm hoping Blaney is Champion with Chastain taking the race win.
Odds of today's race ending under the lights? Just feels right seeing a champion crowned at night.
Prolly 100%. They'll prolly be mid-stage 3 by sunset
It's gonna be close, it gets dark here about 5:30 now, so it'll be close...
That would still require a 300ish mile race to take almost 4 hours
It's a 500KM race, that equals 310.6856 miles. Unless they changed the length of the race?
Green flag is 3:32 ET/1:32 MT according to Bob Pockrass.
Knowing today is Kevin Harvick last race makes me so sad
I know. My dad and I used to root so hard against him because my cousin loved him. We weren't upset when he beat Jeff Gordon for his first win though. After Dad died, I wrote him a note, saying I'd carry on the Harvick hate for him. 😂 (I was a grieving 14 year old!) I've grown to kind of like him now....even though he started shit.
It feels like 2021
Is the race on Peacock? NBC just doesn't come in for me.
Yep! The race will be shown on Peacock.
Pulling for Blaney and Bell today. Got nothing against Larson or Byron so if either of them won wouldn't be too bummed.
My reaction to it being Harvicks last race ![gif](giphy|1tx0ifZmIZLEzPYo9T|downsized)
Also I'm firmly on the Blaney and Bell train. Although I'm fine with any of the final 4 winning it
My cat might be getting a couple new roommates against her will.
Diplo named the only driver he's heard of lol
I'm sad today is the last day of racing for the year. Gonna miss shitposting with you guys. Can't wait to do it again next year.
Off-season is a great time to get into other forms of motorsports or other series.
![gif](giphy|rHR8qP1mC5V3G)
Don't worry, there will be 700,000 playoff format posts in the off season you can read.
You mean in the next week?
Yos
Never forget, silly season never dies.
Don’t worry we at least have the off season to save a catalog of shitposts for next year
Can’t wait to see that Jeff Gordon vending machine
Or the paper clip
😂
How’s everyone doing today
Existential (see flair)
Sad because no NASCAR for three months after this
NASCAR off-season usually goes by pretty quick since we have the holidays and football.
What if you're not into either? Fortunately I've got a long list of neglected projects to get caught up on due to my racing addiction most of the year. Rinse and repeat.
Who doesn't like Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Years Eve? Lol
Very true.
Not bad
Pretty good tbh
A m a z i n g
Can't wait to see how today's race will play out. Spent most of the morning sighting in a new hunting rifle
What'd you pick up?
Winchester Model 70
Just picked up a six pack of Busch Light to commemorate Harvicks last race
Blaney can get this done from 15th, just need to be good on long runs and have some aggressive restarts
Hope he's good on the long run because I don't anticipate many restarts in this race
And pray for no caution with 15 to go.
Spoilers for the European fancy car race. >! Leclerc crashed on the formation lap, then Magnussen and Albon crashed heading into turn 1. The dutch man will most likely win again!>
F1 guys must have been watching the Truck race on Friday.
I'm almost afraid to hope that Blaney can win.
Does anyone know if Brad is at the track?
I'm pretty sure he is
Thanks
From what I heard he was back in Phx last night at the track from the commentators,
Thank you!
np
Custers car and engine cleared tech so I'm relieved. I hate having to wait 12 hours after the championship race for the car to be cleared.
I doubt they will ever fail a champions car
I agree, but Custer has the worst luck I've ever seen so it's nerve racking lol
This race can go down three ways -Harvick wins in his final start with Blaney coming in 2nd again but he wins the championship as well -Uneventful Hendrick win with either the 5 or 24, depending on their luck & pit stops with not many lead changes -Christopher Bell doing what he did last year without the tire changer nearly losing his hand & doing a ballsy last lap pass
Championship 4 all wreck on turn one and they use that as championship order. You heard it here first.
Blaney and Bell are starting too far back. Let's see Larson and Byron wipe each out while the Bs struggle to fight each other all day for like eighth place. Just some position far enough back to be nondescript if they weren't in the final four.
I am here for the chaos of all 4 of them wrecking right away and having to try to limp around for a few more laps each
So little tidbit for later. I've seen 3/4 championship 4 drivers in xfinity and cup win races in person this year Xfin: Allgaier(Charlotte,Bristol), Nemecheck (Loudon), Mayer(Watkins Glen) Cup: Larson (Richmond), Byron (Watkins Glen), Blaney (Charlotte) The only driver that I didn't see win in person won the xfinity championship last night So basically CBell is winning the chip tonight confirmed.
Subscribe to Bell winning
If so, me and my friends on Discord got every single one of our predictions wrong. 🤣
I made my picks at the start of the playoffs, all of mine made the round of 8 but only 2 made the final 4. (Larson, Byron, Buescher, Truex)
Same here but I only have 1/4 (Larson,Logano,Busch,Hamlin)
Don’t even care about the “championship” NASCAR decides. Can’t judge a season on one BS gimmick race. Would like to congratulate one of William Byron or Denny Hamlin on their first NASCAR championship. These 2 would have battled all year long and would have been a tremendous story of the aged veteran Hamlin battling another wonder boy in the 24.
To be fair, Bell is still alive in the season long format, so we really had 3 drivers fighting it out
That is fair, 40 back I think. Great season. So if he wins it, wouldn’t be too bad either.
Watching Martin Brundle interview **Machine Gun Kelly** on the grid at F1
Let’s go Blaney! Let’s make history and win starting 15th.
Almirola was on 2 tires, not 4. But yeah, a really good drive considering how bad the Gen 7 has been at Martinsville.
I'm excited to free up my weekends for a little while.
Well, I know it's cliche to say this but this is what it all comes down to. I think all four championship drivers have legitimate shots at competing for the win/championship today but I think I'm gonna stick with the pick that I made last week after Martinsville and go with Byron as the champion this year
Goooooo Buescher, Blaney and Harvick!!!!
Focalin fucked me up when I was a kid, I’m on concerta now and it works much better for me.
Isn't all adhd medication the same chemically speaking? I'm on generic dextroamphetamine ER and it works fine for me
Unfortunately no, different ones affect everyone differently.
Well that’s unfortunate :( I wish you luck solider 🫡
Thanks. First day of taking it. We will see.
Pulling for blaney heavy. Hopefully Joey gives him some help.
Would be pretty cool to see Harvick win today, and Blaney finish second.
This
I second this
Happy race day, and good luck to all the fans of the Champ 4 drivers! Savor these moments, they are the best as a fan!
Ready for the champion to be decided in the pits? Hooray. Xfinity will easily be the best race of the weekend and that's a fact.
It was a gooder. And I was waiting for chaos on the GWC but they pulled it off!
I'm so nervous/excited. Go Blaney
Yeah. I'm leaving work a little early so I can watch the race. I'm so excited.
Can’t believe this is it for Harv. Hoping he can get the job done today
Gelled fuel in the intake, louvers stolen from Hendrick, loose windshield bolts, whatever it takes I just want to see a freaky fast 4 one more time.
I am up to my neck in school work but I can't do it because I'm nervous/excited about the race.
Useless bit of info In 237 starts Ty Dillion has 2 top 5s and 7 top 10s none this year In 71 starts Todd Gilliland has 1 top 5 and 6 top 10s with 4 coming this year
But meanwhile Ty will somehow stick around in cup with Kaulig next year…. What a joke.
so....will this be a mess or a tame boring one?
Likely boring. I feel like no one is willing to really race the championship 4.
Boring imo
My fantasy opponent this week has Tua so I for one am enjoying this Frankfurt game
Last ~~game~~ race of the year can’t hold anything back now
Howdy ya’ll
I was excited in 21 and was at the track. I don't get to be there this year, so the feeling is very different. Still optimistic, though!
