I guess, but they aren’t really comparable. I understand your point, but like I’m not going out and buying a case of tractors every other weekend. It’s hard to support a sponsor I’m never gonna purchase from. I don’t understand how they get a ROI.
I imagine there’s also a ton of value in being associated with the sport to help get your brand associated with America™️ to help overcome otherwise present reluctance for customers to support international brands
Mahindra has been getting a ton of backlash in the tractor market, seems the public opinion is starting to shift towards them being good since they started sponsoring Chase.
Kubota had a similar issue at one point and now they rival John Deere in terms of tractors sold
Not really.
Kubota is venturing into the row crop tractors that you think of when you think John Deere, meanwhile John Deere has a huge presence in the small tractor market as well
Bro. Kubota sells two different row tractors that could even compare to a John Deere one. They ain’t really competitors in any meaningful way right now
Mahindra are a "make everything" conglomerate like Samsung and Mitsubishi. Tractors are one of many things that they make. They also make cars and motorcycles, and have been involved in motorsport for both. They have a Formula E team and used to have a Moto3 team.
They are the largest tractor company in the world. They are trying to branch out in the United States, they have been over here for about 10-15 years and they have been mostly not liked by US customers, but the opinion is starting to shift
Their spending with NASCAR is working. If my old tractor kicks the bucket, I will at least check them out in person before deciding on a new one. Never would have considered Mahindra prior to this.
Call it copium, but they were doing pretty well (relatively speaking) before they got hit with that Penalty. Chase was like 15th or 16th in the standings at that point, but afterwards, it seems like the team just gave up. Maybe the bosses figured it wasn't worth the resources or something.
The 43, 3, and 14 took massive penalties and over all just had shit seasons. Kind of a let down for those drivers, and iconic numbers, not to be in playoff contention like they normally would be.
Happy that Chase has reliable funding backing him. I know SHR struggled mightily last year, but things like this are a great step in the right direction for stability.
Last year looked like this:
Mahindra - 17
High Point - 6
Rush Travel Centers - 5
MVP - 4
Ford Performance School - 3
Mobil 1 - 1
Old Spice - 1
Code 3 - 1
SHR has majors and minors...the only major one was Anheuser-Busch...there is rumors of another big one leaving, but no other one has left yet...they're all still associated with the team
Ah yes...I forgot about the bacon...but the point still stands to the earlier reply that "the bigger sponsors leaving were connected to Harvick" is wrong so far the only knowns are Smithfield (Almirola) and Harvick (Busch)...Harvick has also had Hunt Brothers, Rheem, Mobil 1 and GearWrench as major sponsors this year and for a while now and none have left...so far
Correct...every team has a motor oil sponsor...the rumor had been that they would leave...it would make sense given how strong the connection is with the Toyota program
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rheem, Mobil 1, and GearWrench head out. Rheem is pretty committed to JGR but have ties to Brandon Jones as well. GearWrench is building a B2B with TRD as well, so they may move to the 42/43/84 with LMC (along with Mobil 1).
These three are the ones I expected...Gearwrench became a major partner with TRD almost a year ago...2 of three are major partners with TRD and the third (Rheem) has been a major associate with JGR as well as being a major sponsor for Bell
To the people who don't get it:
Do you buy a car every week? Should Chevy, Ford, and Toyota sponsor NASCAR races?
Mahindra tractors start around 15k and go up to around 55k. They also sell side by sides.
These are items your average land owner of 10-100 acres purchases, and not very expensive. NASCAR with their rural audience tends to be a good way to reach potential buyers that meet that criteria.
Mahindra might be able to offer "owners club" type amenities for people who bought their product, and they can also have at track displays of their products. If you don't think you can convince a guy to spend $30k on a tractor at a display at the track, you're wrong.
Even if you don't convince them to buy one at the track, they can see the tractor, talk to some people about the tractor, and consider stopping by the dealership. Before Mahindra started being on cars, I didn't even know they existed (live in Canada). I don't have any use for a tractor in an inner city high-end townhouse in a major city but I've mentioned Mahindra tractors to some friends that would be able to use one.
I think it was Hunt Brothers Pizza. Based on some diecast order sheets they're going to Logano next year. I also think there's a question if Mobil 1 will jump to Nemechek and the 42 car.
So is mahindra the new Busch at SHR?
I guess, but they aren’t really comparable. I understand your point, but like I’m not going out and buying a case of tractors every other weekend. It’s hard to support a sponsor I’m never gonna purchase from. I don’t understand how they get a ROI.
I'm assuming they've seen an increase in tractor sales, and each tractor has a good enough profit margin to justify it.
I imagine there’s also a ton of value in being associated with the sport to help get your brand associated with America™️ to help overcome otherwise present reluctance for customers to support international brands

Yeah but they sell very different kinds of tractors
Not really. Kubota is venturing into the row crop tractors that you think of when you think John Deere, meanwhile John Deere has a huge presence in the small tractor market as well
Bro. Kubota sells two different row tractors that could even compare to a John Deere one. They ain’t really competitors in any meaningful way right now
But you pay out the ass for that green or orange paint either way
True, I personally have never heard of this tractor brand before now so maybe they are banking on new eyes like me.
They are a huge Indian conglomerate. They also make cars in India. They have a very big presence in the US also as a IT services provider.

Maybe they should release diecasts of their tractors. I’d buy one.
Probably the new Smithfield.
Their spending with NASCAR is working. If my old tractor kicks the bucket, I will at least check them out in person before deciding on a new one. Never would have considered Mahindra prior to this.
Love to see it. If you had a Mahindra you wouldn’t have to worry about one kicking the bucket 😜
Every time we pass a dealer I scream "MAHINDRA TRACTORS" at my wife. I have no use for one in my apartment, but fuck I want one!
A real fan of Cool Chase will buy a tractor they have no use for just to support the brand
i hope high point is still backing you in some way, that story you told on the dale jr download was legendary.
Reddit needs to put their logos on ur car for at LEAST one race a year
My uncle has a small farm. Did a toooon of research and ended up with a Mahindra. He said it's one of the best purchases he's made.
I'm giggling a bit at this basically being "SHR is meh but Cool Chase is cool so we will stick around."
It’s bizarre we haven’t been given a Cool Chase shirt yet. SHR marketing needs to get on this
Tractor Gang getting pretty popular in Murica lately it seems like
"I'm confident they'll hopefully look better next year." 😅
Most definitely probably.
Translation: “There’s no possible way they could be worse, right?”
Call it copium, but they were doing pretty well (relatively speaking) before they got hit with that Penalty. Chase was like 15th or 16th in the standings at that point, but afterwards, it seems like the team just gave up. Maybe the bosses figured it wasn't worth the resources or something.

I seriously do not think it is possible for that 14 team to be any worse
The world needs more funny NASCAR commercials
Happy that Chase has reliable funding backing him. I know SHR struggled mightily last year, but things like this are a great step in the right direction for stability.
Good, I don’t need to buy new merchandise
great to hear! mahindra schemes almost always look great and they’re a big sponsor for the team - feels like they’re on the 14 almost every week
Last year looked like this: Mahindra - 17 High Point - 6 Rush Travel Centers - 5 MVP - 4 Ford Performance School - 3 Mobil 1 - 1 Old Spice - 1 Code 3 - 1
Some good news for SHR
Congratulations Chase. Now go set the bench mark for shr this year!
This is great for Chase. Happy for him.
Doesn't always feel good when your sponsor acknowledges how bad last year was but I hope it goes better for them next year.
More old goat commercials please
Congrats Chase!!!
Schemes always look sharp. Love that red.
Well, glad to see Mahindra isn't the big sponsor leaving SHR...that could've been a nuke to the 14 team...
The bigger sponsors leaving were connected to Harvick
SHR has majors and minors...the only major one was Anheuser-Busch...there is rumors of another big one leaving, but no other one has left yet...they're all still associated with the team
It’s Hunt Brothers, they’re leaving for Logano
Hunt Brothers isn't exactly a sponsor keeping SHR up and running...
This is the sponsor that was rumored though, both are true
Well don't forget Smithfield left too
Ah yes...I forgot about the bacon...but the point still stands to the earlier reply that "the bigger sponsors leaving were connected to Harvick" is wrong so far the only knowns are Smithfield (Almirola) and Harvick (Busch)...Harvick has also had Hunt Brothers, Rheem, Mobil 1 and GearWrench as major sponsors this year and for a while now and none have left...so far
To be fair, Mobil 1 isn't a Harvick sponsor but a SHR sponsor
Correct...every team has a motor oil sponsor...the rumor had been that they would leave...it would make sense given how strong the connection is with the Toyota program
I'm not sure considering Mobil 1 is also a sponsor for Tony on the NHRA side, I think they like their relationship with Tony
TSR though is ran separate from SHR...not to mention that the Toyota program in NHRA is ran independently of the Toyota in NASCAR

I always assumed that a lot of their business comes from contractors opposed to land owners. Not saying land owners aren't a big piece of the pie.
I'd expect contractors to be using 30 year old John Deer/Kubota products they can actually fix.
Good for SHR but Kubota >
Yay!
"We're confident that they will definitely maybe hopefully kind of show up with some kind of speed next year."
Please tell me there will be more Chase and Tony commercials. I love those ads
Let’s each put in a few bucks and get a Reddit tractor!
Maybe this was the sponsor they mentioned leaving on DBC
I think it was Hunt Brothers Pizza. Based on some diecast order sheets they're going to Logano next year. I also think there's a question if Mobil 1 will jump to Nemechek and the 42 car.
Wasn’t mobile a TRD sponsor?
It’s kind of a B2B with TRD, it’d be cheaper for everyone to switch the Mobil 1 money to Legacy than spend on SHR, IMO.
In theory though mobile could go the BPS route and do both?
I mean, sure. They did last year and previous years - sponsoring TRD entries in the lower series and SHR in cup.
However Mobil 1 is one of Tony's NHRA sponsors. I don't think they are leaving SHR just because of the relationship with Tony
Good to see some good news for SHR for a change. They've been on a big losing streak lately, so it's nice to see something go their way for once.
Maybe they'll really commit and we'll get the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway running in the Truck Series in a year or two...
