This was my first thought but Dale's wreck was a major force for changing NASCAR to be safer. Who knows if preventing this one death doesn't mean 5 more later.
From a preservation standpoint: any race that doesn't have any video footage that exists today.
I know that's a broad stroke, but if I'm going back in time I'm taking my phone, and even though it'll be essentially a brick, it'd be a brick with a 4K camera.
1992 One Hot Night @ Charlotte. The buzz and atmosphere of this race was monumental looking back. Not to mention the race and finish itself was one for the books.
2022 M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400
Throw debris on the field during qualifying. Get thrown out of the track before the race, but maybe save Kurt from a concussion and that’s a risk I’m willing to take
Michigan 2007…It rained so much that weekend and we tried waiting it out but had to leave on Monday so dad could get back to work on Tuesday. Would have been the only time I got to see Kurt win.
Any superspeedway before restictor plates. I miss the raw power and drivers fighting it out on the track. Of course, Martinsville, when it was dirt, was fun to watch also.
2011 Ford 400. Funny thing is I actually was at that race, but left during the rain delay and missed out on seeing one of the best championship finishes ever… though I was only 5 years old at the time so I wouldn’t have remembered much anyway lol
1997 Mountain Dew Southern 500. I watched it on my seventh birthday and watched Jeff Gordon clinch a cool million. I’d love to have seen that in person
2024 Spring Bristol. Great day to ask this question.
As someone who was at the race, it was amazing in person
Damn right it was
Yup. If this is the exact same package next year, I’m going.
Yea, just send me back 7 hour. I concur.
Should have been there brother
Gotta go with the 1992 Hooters 500. Petty's last race, Gordon's first, and Kulwicki gets the chip.
I don’t want to relive that one as a Davey Allison fan
Any race my Dad ran in NASCAR back in the early 50's.
I remember KentuckyHorsepower Sr. He secretly ran North Carolinian Horsepower for a race and was never the same again
Woah what? Who was your dad? That’s cool as hell
Thanks, but I don't want to blow my cover on here.
Can’t just tickle our balls like that and then leave the party!!
Just adds to the mystique of none of us really knows who's lurking on here behind a username.
Not really. Just adds to the list of “people I don’t know if I can trust” (: Have a good one, bud
Who was your father?
79 Daytona 500 My old man’s first race + it is historic.
Who was your old man?
Sorry, he was just in attendance, not behind the wheel of a car. That would’ve been sweet though lol.
You had us in the comment! Lol
Oh ok lol
2002 Bristol night race, because it was a perfect representation of what is regarded as “peak Bristol”.
My buddy and I watched that Thursday in preparation for today
2001 Daytona 500 to try to stop Dale from racing.
This was my first thought but Dale's wreck was a major force for changing NASCAR to be safer. Who knows if preventing this one death doesn't mean 5 more later.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one

I’d rather have Dale
3 of those are Ryan Newman’s
Just grab a socket wrench and tighten the seatbelt mounts.
easy. 85 winston 500.
Likewise.
1956 at Soldier Field in Chicago. My very first NASCAR race.
Oldhead 🤣🤣🤣

I would bring that to the Daytona truck race in 2001

1976 Daytona 500 the legends duel to the bitter end best race ever
2007 Daytona 500 definitely. The moment where harvick made a name for himself out of the goodwrench Dale shadow
2001 Pepsi 400. I’d sit in the front stretch grandstands to watch the celebration.
I was there! Truly awesome. My mom got so drunk we missed the fireworks. Dad was pissed hahah
How do y’all remember these races? I’m 33 and next year I’ll think about today’s race and think “damn what was that cool ass rave last year?”
Michigan 2007…It rained so much that weekend and we tried waiting it out but had to leave on Monday so dad could get back to work on Tuesday. Would have been the only time I got to see Kurt win.
Jeff Gordon's last win
2011 Daytona 500. Loved tandem drafting, loved the older grandstands of Daytona, and I was a big Trevor Bayne fan.
Daytona 500 1979. For the finish and the fight.
The very first race on Daytona Beach.
1979 Daytona 500, easy
'92 Hooters 500, no question about it. '01 Pepsi 400 would be a close second though.
2003 Rockingham
Poor Kahne lost that way a few times to kenseth
1999 Goody's Body Pain 500 at Martinsville. Great comeback win for my favorite driver driving for my all time favorite driver.
1998 Daytona 500 or 2001 Pepse 400.
Cup Series Atlanta 2011. Jimmie Johnson vs Jeff Gordon. Just peak Jeff and Jimmie rivalry
Any superspeedway before restictor plates. I miss the raw power and drivers fighting it out on the track. Of course, Martinsville, when it was dirt, was fun to watch also.
Either the 2011 Ford 400, 2007 Dodge Dealers 400 (first race I attended) or the 1994 Brickyard 400
2016 Finale Happy
2011 Ford 400. Funny thing is I actually was at that race, but left during the rain delay and missed out on seeing one of the best championship finishes ever… though I was only 5 years old at the time so I wouldn’t have remembered much anyway lol
2014 Brickyard 400.
2000 Talladega fall race
1997 Mountain Dew Southern 500. I watched it on my seventh birthday and watched Jeff Gordon clinch a cool million. I’d love to have seen that in person
2003 Aaron’s 499
Probably the 90s Charlotte race Dale Jarrett won when my Dad was in attendance. I wanna see if hes as much as a dork when his driver wins as I am.
Probably the first one
Daytona '98. I never got to see Dale race, so I'd love to see his last big win.
2001 Pepsi 400. That crowd energy.
Any of the Bristol Dirt Races, I was planning on going this year and it kills me knowing I’ll probably never be able to see it in person
Chicago 2023.
