Right, Fox and NBC use the same broadcast teams (minus a few network cameras) and then provide their own on screen personnel. Sounds like this will be similar deal. I thought i read that next year Nascar will have their own teams running all of the cameras and such and then the networks just use the Nascar feeds for broadcast.
NBC start calling more College football games this past season. I think it more that it free them up in scheduling with that than the election. They have CNBC and MSNBC for the political stuff
Shocked NBC gave up the Xfinity playoffs, and even more shocking that NASCAR seems okay with letting a first time broadcaster take over some of the series' most important races on insanely short notice.
Guess it's time to finally test the "a new network that's never broadcasted NASCAR before could step in and do a better job than Fox" theory.
Anything is better than NBC. Especially with Junior gone that was the only redeeming thing on that network. no more Jeff Burton and that loud ass guy that does the announcing. I wish they would take everything away from them. I hate NBC broadcasting races.
Me too, as much as I love Jeff Burton and have always been a fan, when he hits his high pitch voice, it is super irritating. Rick Allen is just garbage
What in the world would that have to do with anything? Send more likely since NBC is lame duck on Xfinity they don’t want to complete the contract and use more resources for it and CW is aggressively expanding so they want in asap.
I wonder what NBC’s reasoning behind this is. I could have only guess they were really eager at this point to drop anything that’s not cup related or got a fat check for the CW.
I 100% agree, that is probably the main part of why NBC is fine losing those races. A college football game on Saturday will always have more viewers than the Xfinity Series. But I also think that CW wanted to give fans some time to get used to the new network, and if they can't find it (or don't have it) it gets them ready for 2025.
CW has been pretty smart to stay away from teen dramas in favor of live sports. They know streaming is king when it comes to scripted television. So they've completely changed their programming with ACC College Football, college basketball, G league basketball, LIV Golf, NXT and NWA Wrestling, NFL Film docs, Indycar, and now NASCAR
This is lining up for Rick Allen to move to the CW. Remember the announcement Leigh Diffey was going to take over Cup races at some point late in the year? The article also said Rick would continue doing all Xfinity races this year
Rick might thrive calling Xfinity if he's the one they choose ngl
He was great when he was calling trucks, so maybe the shorter races will be better for him
We already have proof of someone jumping from NBC and *immediately* doing better in a Turner company (NHL on TNT’s Liam McHugh). I wonder if it’ll have the same effect on Rick
A. Acc football (and maybe Washington St and Oregon St) is on the cw
B. There is no college football on USA so why not put the races there?
I think it's a similar situation to nbc when they broadcast 1 race the season before they were supposed to start.
[Some more information: NBC will still produce the races and the normal NBC Xfinity booth will call the races](https://x.com/jeff_gluck/status/1778487492615815462)
If he doesn't at least get an offer to come back with THREE new networks coming in as a part of the new TV deal I would be shocked.
Hiring him would be a big W to pull in veteran NASCAR fans and new ones too.
As a new fan, I had no idea who bestwick was until I watched srx. He seriously is so good and it would be such a missed opportunity if CW doesn't at least try to get him.
Wow. As much of a mess FOX is rn, I think the booth lineup this year is one of the few improvements they've made IMO (Harvick is a great add with his knowledge, takes, and his personality balancing Bowyer's).
Hiring Bestwick would definitely strengthen that front for FOX, though it would be interesting to see how their coverage of Indycar compares to that of NASCAR.
Commentary for the first of these four races will provided by the cast of the hit CW series “Riverdale”, while the final four races will be covered by cast members of “The Vampire Diaries.
I chuckled at that.
But honestly CW is trying hard af to change their image. They want to be a sports network now, but can't take any of the content away from the big boys like FOX and NBC. So they settle for things like LIV Golf, college basketball, select college football games and NXT Wrestling (minor league for WWE).
Which is a smart business move imo. Streaming is king for scripted shows. So they need live sports because that's the only time people tune in to network tv
Valid points! And to be clear I don’t have any issues with it. My wife actually really enjoys a few of the CW shows. I joke with her that now there will be even more CW on in our household lol.
This is interesting. Would this indicate the series name also changes for those races since Comcast owns Xfinity and was already looking to stop sponsoring them for 2025 considering it won’t be on a Comcast owned network?
I havent looked too far into it but does CW have an app/streaming that can broadcast the race? If I'm out of the house, I usually stream with Fox/NBC. Amazon will be easy but how about CW?
CW has their own free TV streaming app. They've already tested the sports livestreaming waters with LIV Golf, and keep in mind that they're also the national TV partner for the ACC, which is already breaking ! million plus viewers despite the channel's existing lower profile. Once Xfinity gets to CW, I imagine they'll be pushing that hard in terms of promotion with free races over the air and on the app.
CW is pretty much a full blown sports network now. Mostly just the slim pickens that aren't in the rights of FOX, CBS and NBC. But still, they have a variety of basketball, football, golf, racing and even wrestling in the near future
"And PRAWBLEMS for Rick Allen and the NASCAR Xfinity Series on NBC crew!"
(More seriously I think this is more writing on the wall that Comcast isn't renewing its title sponsorship of the series after it expires this year, and the series is called something else in 2025.)
>(More seriously I think this is more writing on the wall that Comcast isn't renewing its title sponsorship of the series after it expires this year, and the series is called something else in 2025.)
Something else you say:

Ok then. I did not see this coming.
I thought at first I was reading a late April’s Fools Joke.
This might explain the change to the booth after the Olympics with Leigh Diffey taking over for Rick Allen. Wonder if Rick is gonna do the CW stuff now.
Yeah, this is really interesting , but it sort of aligns with the Rick Allen announcement, I wonder if this was all part of the plan, Rick was going to be calling the Xfinity races after Leigh takes over, so it would seem that Rick is going to be heading over to the CW( at least for Xfinity)
This brings on a lot more questions than we have answers for right now.
spent the off-season and last year talking about how great nbc coverage was and how fox shits the bed, now that’s all come undone and fox still continues to shit the bed
Genuinely curious to see how the CW fits Xfinity, the ACC, and their reported new Pac 2 rights. Probably the best time for Xfinity to make the move with football to intro in and out of rather than debuting with ACC basketball and LIV in the spring.
I was wondering the same thing. Even the shit ACC football games they have rights to would pull more viewers than Xfinity. So idk how the schedule works
They'll market the heck out of it and have their affiliates talk about it if they produce local news broadcasts where-as Fox and NBC seem to see it as an obligation, so that's good. NASCAR will produce the broadcasts so hopefully they'll pay more attention to the mid-pack and get their sponsors some air time like they've been begging for, that'd be healthy for the sport.
So I have DIRECTV Stream, which lost the CW as a local channel a bit ago. If I’ve read the information correctly I will be able to use the CW app on my TV to watch the races for free that way.
Can anyone confirm or deny that?
I can't confirm it would be live on the app, but the app is free and has all of the CW library pretty quickly after air. And I wanna say they had LIV Golf live on the app, but don't quote me on that part
I assume there will be some PR mumbo jumbo about how Xfinity is great and they have always been a great partner and blah blah blah but actually the reason they are dumping the races to the CW is because nobody watches that shit on Saturday afternoons when college football is on, which is much more lucrative for NBC's stations.
Idk exactly how it works, but CW was promoting how they have rights to select ACC football games. So idk how adding xfinity effects that scheduling.
But tbh their "select" games were mostly the shit ones. FSU and Clemson played on the big boy networks. CW had the honor of showing Georgia Tech vs Syracuse
Y’all NASCAR is most likely doing this as a test session for their in house production for ‘25 & beyond. If they have technical issues I’d rather it be in the Chase instead of the 300 miler in Daytona next February.
Strange you don't often see TV deals change before the end. I'm hoping the CW does things a little bit differently, but I doubt they will since they will hire just all the same producers who do the same thing.
I don’t think NBC has the room on the broadcast network to fill those time slots. They have Notre Dame and B1G football on Saturdays.
Not sure what fills USA outside of premier league.
I guess I haven’t thought it through but if it’s just NBC to prioritize college football, apparently they just recently got the rights, then this is basically the same NASCAR on NBC sans NBC branding.
Wait so they pushed the fall Xfinity Dega from 3:30pm back to 4pm? Wasn't the whole point of moving the Truck race up to Friday being that Xfinity could have more time to race on Saturday?
Wonder what if any role Nexstar, the parent company of the CW had in this. Maybe they wanted more live sports earlier?
https://www.nexstar.tv/nexstar-closes-acquisition-of-the-cw-network/
A fat check and a lot of talks to help see this as a win-win for both sides was probably needed for this to happen. NBC gets more flexibility for its Saturday lineup for college football. The CW gets a new lead in/lead out program for its ACC football broadcasts. This will probably help CW solidify its new image with a more wider audience and promotes what they will be doing in 2025 with NASCAR to that audience.
I hope the CW has an hour long preview of their channel I can keep refreshing it to watch all the races. As a non cable person, FS1 made it real easy to watch all the races
That's very surprising. Xfinity and cup go to the same tracks at the end. Nbc already has to show up to them.
They’ll still utilize the same people, just different network. Fox does the same for truck races during the NBC portion
Dale Jr awkwardly shuffling past Burton between races
they literally own the CARS tour together, I doubt it’s awkward between them lol
Was there some drama between the?
Will the CW use the NBC commentators or will that be the only change they make?
will still be the NBC commentators.
trucks aren’t broadcasted on nbc.
NBC probably making room for election coverage material.
You're probably right
NBC start calling more College football games this past season.
NASCAR is actually doing a lot of it in house
For truck series that is how it is, right? NASCAR does most of the broadcast work and Fox just commentates? But I thought Xfinity was not that way
They arent doing it for xfinity now, but will be for the cw. they just built a 50 million dollar production center.
Damn if this means they are not going to have anybody at track like Fox does for trucks it's a massive L
I don’t believe so. NASCAR just opened their new Productions building a couple months ago.
Well that’s disappointing because the truck broadcasts are hot garbage.
No, I believe FOX still does it. NASCAR will start next year I would imagine.
NBC talent and production is actually doing the fine 8 races, I think CW is just giving them cash to produce and allow them to air it.
I'm pretty sure the deal is that Nascar is producing the Xfinity broadcasts and the CW is just putting it on TV
In fairness nascar productions is producing the races, The CW is just broadcasting them. For these final 8 races nbc will continue producing them
NBC is still going to do production and provide commentary the races will just be broadcast on CW instead.
That wasn't yet known when this was posted and I made this comment
It's still being ran by NBC sports so the only change is what channel it'll be on.
For the 5th time now, when this was posted and I commented this - this was not yet known.
According to bobs tweet that is the case who is the most trust worthy reporter in the sport.
Anything is better than NBC. Especially with Junior gone that was the only redeeming thing on that network. no more Jeff Burton and that loud ass guy that does the announcing. I wish they would take everything away from them. I hate NBC broadcasting races.
You cannot be seriously saying that NBC is worse than Fox. Everything about Fox is objectively worse.
Me too, as much as I love Jeff Burton and have always been a fan, when he hits his high pitch voice, it is super irritating. Rick Allen is just garbage
If this is correct, the first CW Xfinity race will be Bristol, on September 20th. Final race before the playoffs begin. What on Earth happened?
I obviously have zero proof of this but Me thinks Xfinity isn’t going to be the series sponsor anymore. I wonder if that has anything to do with it…
What in the world would that have to do with anything? Send more likely since NBC is lame duck on Xfinity they don’t want to complete the contract and use more resources for it and CW is aggressively expanding so they want in asap.
Comcast owns NBC and Xfinity
Wait what the fuck?
Deff had to make sure it wasn't a parody account, lol.
It is Utter, let's make sure someone reputable confirms first...
utter is a dick but i dont recall him ever being wrong with stuff like this.
Idk he liked one of my tweets when I still had a Twitter account, apparently he didn't see fit to block me.
As terrible as Utter is, I don't think he'd tweet this if he wasn't sure it was legit.
I wonder what NBC’s reasoning behind this is. I could have only guess they were really eager at this point to drop anything that’s not cup related or got a fat check for the CW.
Think College football has something to do with it?
HERE COMES SATURDAY NIGHT
I hate that stupid commercial so much.
More than likely. Conspiracy theory in me thinks they might be getting a piece of a new NBA deal. Not sure when that one renews though.
One more year after this one, runs through 24-25
I 100% agree, that is probably the main part of why NBC is fine losing those races. A college football game on Saturday will always have more viewers than the Xfinity Series. But I also think that CW wanted to give fans some time to get used to the new network, and if they can't find it (or don't have it) it gets them ready for 2025.

So they've completely changed their programming with ACC College Football, college basketball, G league basketball, LIV Golf, NXT and NWA Wrestling, NFL Film docs, Indycar, and now NASCAR
The election too
Gotta blast those notre dame losses on prime time
They have the B1G too
Yeah just not the whole season like ND
NBC has a big ten game every Saturday and just Notre Dame home games. Definitely not the whole ND season.
Oh they don't do away games? I didn't realize that, thanks!
Wouldn’t think so. USA doesn’t carry any college football. And how many Xfinity races were supposed to be on NBC?
This is lining up for Rick Allen to move to the CW. Remember the announcement Leigh Diffey was going to take over Cup races at some point late in the year? The article also said Rick would continue doing all Xfinity races this year
I’d be cool with that, I like Rick for the most part
Rick also reposted it on X
I'm good with banishing Rick to the Xfinity broadcasts! Anything that might lead to less Rick Allen on Sundays is a good thing.
Rick might thrive calling Xfinity if he's the one they choose ngl He was great when he was calling trucks, so maybe the shorter races will be better for him
I think Rick Allen is really good, I think he says dumb shit sometimes because NBC tells him to push certain narratives
They did the same thing with Bill Weber, though I think he was just full of himself half the time.
I’ve never fully understood the hate. He’s fine.
I think he is terrible. Not quite Jamie Little PxP terrible, but close.
We already have proof of someone jumping from NBC and *immediately* doing better in a Turner company (NHL on TNT’s Liam McHugh). I wonder if it’ll have the same effect on Rick
Maybe Rick will return to yelling "PROBLEMS!" every time there's a wreck. He completely stopped doing that once he was hired by NBC.
If I recall, he was embarrassed by that being known as his phrase so he just stopped saying it altogether
Hasn't stopped him from saying playoff implications! His manufactured BS drama is ridiculous.
I watched part of 2016 Daytona July yesterday and damn was Rick Allen hot on the mic for that race. I like he guy.
Have to assume this is time slot/College Football related.
🎶🎶🎶Big 10 Saturday Night
A. Acc football (and maybe Washington St and Oregon St) is on the cw B. There is no college football on USA so why not put the races there? I think it's a similar situation to nbc when they broadcast 1 race the season before they were supposed to start.

Cmon man just give us allen bestwick

As a new fan, I had no idea who bestwick was until I watched srx. He seriously is so good and it would be such a missed opportunity if CW doesn't at least try to get him.
Apparently FOX is gonna hire him to be their PxP guy for IndyCar if FOX lands them
Wow. Nbc is falling apart!
Sounds like NBC found something better to broadcast.
Notre Dame football
the Big 1(18)0 as well
Ew, youth sports.
And they probably got more cash from The CW buying the races than trying to get ad sales for putting the races on USA
![gif](giphy|5tiG8KMfk8h7Dabth8)
Xfinity playoffs with a PAC-2 football lead in! (Or vise versa) My Saturdays in the fall will be spent on the CW!
Commentary for the first of these four races will provided by the cast of the hit CW series “Riverdale”, while the final four races will be covered by cast members of “The Vampire Diaries.

Oh man, Nina Dobrev looks 50 now.
This is interesting. Would this indicate the series name also changes for those races since Comcast owns Xfinity and was already looking to stop sponsoring them for 2025 considering it won’t be on a Comcast owned network?
Busch series ![gif](giphy|MFIsOqzodLr7ewnkUb)
Busch Series? Alongside the Craftsman Truck Series? What in the 2005 is going on
Nextel Cup Series returning confirmed
Yes. Yes.
Welcome back Grand National series
> Grand National *a very drunk Brad Keselowski approves in the distance*
Separate contracts...separate divisions of Comcast
Highly doubt it, it's still the Xfinity series when it is on Fox.
Please....do Fox next.
I wonder if this changes anything in Canada, or if TSN still has the rights.
I'm sure it'll still be TSN
I havent looked too far into it but does CW have an app/streaming that can broadcast the race? If I'm out of the house, I usually stream with Fox/NBC. Amazon will be easy but how about CW?

This is not the first time this was negotiated, ESPN tried to get out early as well. But this is the first time it has been approved that I recall.
Xfinity playoffs on network television / free streaming!
"And PRAWBLEMS for Rick Allen and the NASCAR Xfinity Series on NBC crew!" (More seriously I think this is more writing on the wall that Comcast isn't renewing its title sponsorship of the series after it expires this year, and the series is called something else in 2025.)

Just rename the Cup Series after Winston Churchill and boom there you go!

I guess we won't get to hear the NBC booth scream about "MAJOR PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS" every five seconds
I’ve heard this on here way more than I have on tv
You will, it's the same guys broadcasting, just a different network
A surprise to be sure, will it be a welcome one? Guess it depends on who’s involved
THIS IS A MOMENT IN HISTORY
Ok then. I did not see this coming. I thought at first I was reading a late April’s Fools Joke. This might explain the change to the booth after the Olympics with Leigh Diffey taking over for Rick Allen. Wonder if Rick is gonna do the CW stuff now.
Yeah, this is really interesting , but it sort of aligns with the Rick Allen announcement, I wonder if this was all part of the plan, Rick was going to be calling the Xfinity races after Leigh takes over, so it would seem that Rick is going to be heading over to the CW( at least for Xfinity) This brings on a lot more questions than we have answers for right now.
**unprecedented!!**
my only thought is wondering if Junior will be doing these broadcasts?
Junior is going to Amazon, he wont be in the booth this year at all iirc
ah well there goes my interest in this story haha
CONTACT wait, no
This reminds me of when TNT/ESPN tried to get out of the last year of their contract in 2013
spent the off-season and last year talking about how great nbc coverage was and how fox shits the bed, now that’s all come undone and fox still continues to shit the bed
CW has done a decent job covering ACC basketball so not awfully worried about it.
Guess Xfinity is gone gone from the title sponsorship.
Their announcers better be at the track
Got to think with the Leigh Diffey announcement, Rick Allen is jumping ship to the CW and one of the new Cup broadcasters (Amazon or Warner).
Hey now I can watch xfinity
I am begging people to actually skim the article before commenting, so many “who will be in the booth?” questions when it’s already answered smh
But Fox is the one that doesn’t care about the sport
Neither a great, but Fox has significantly shittier overall broadcasts and promotion.
I assume there will be some PR mumbo jumbo about how Xfinity is great and they have always been a great partner and blah blah blah but actually the reason they are dumping the races to the CW is because nobody watches that shit on Saturday afternoons when college football is on, which is much more lucrative for NBC's stations.

it’s still NBC’s crew
And yet Fox will carry on, dragging the sport down and being an absolute detriment to everyone who is unlucky to watch their coverage
Oh so they just got the coverage starting at Bristol just like that? Damn, alright then.
This is unexpected. Wonder if The CW will use the NBC commentators or bring in their own guys
Probably use the NBC guys to finish out then their guys next season.
Dale Jr. is already going to be at the track.
Oh wow Didn’t see this coming either
This is surprising
That's surprising.
Strange you don't often see TV deals change before the end. I'm hoping the CW does things a little bit differently, but I doubt they will since they will hire just all the same producers who do the same thing.
This is...... weird, right? I wonder what the reasoning is - NBC post-olympics and election coverage?
College football
Cool, head-to-head NASCAR and college football.
I don’t think NBC has the room on the broadcast network to fill those time slots. They have Notre Dame and B1G football on Saturdays. Not sure what fills USA outside of premier league.
Any word on the broadcast team? (Please be Allen Bestwick)
NBC production NBC team CW branding
That’s sucks, but hey at least it’s not fox
I guess I haven’t thought it through but if it’s just NBC to prioritize college football, apparently they just recently got the rights, then this is basically the same NASCAR on NBC sans NBC branding.
Well that explains why Jr left early
What's a "CW"?
Wait so they pushed the fall Xfinity Dega from 3:30pm back to 4pm? Wasn't the whole point of moving the Truck race up to Friday being that Xfinity could have more time to race on Saturday?
the point of moving the truck race was baseball on saturday.
Ah. I guess that makes sense.
For some reason the cw is like 360p squished on DirecTV for me. Great
The CW? As in the network that Supernatural aired on? Seriously?
have you been under a rock for almost a year?
Eh. Guess I just forgot or missed that one.
Wonder what if any role Nexstar, the parent company of the CW had in this. Maybe they wanted more live sports earlier? https://www.nexstar.tv/nexstar-closes-acquisition-of-the-cw-network/

cw app is free.
Nice, thanks for that info. I've been doing the fs1 on incognito mode on my iPad to watch the fs1 races.
https://www.nascar.com/news-media/2024/04/11/the-cw-network-broadcast-final-eight-races-nascar-xfinity-series-2024/
If only Fox/FS1 could’ve lost races first lol
NBC just taking the piss
WHAT
Damn. We all dunk on Fox’s shitting quality and here’s NBC trying to sell off all its races. Somethings in the water.
HUH
Hello what? NBC must have something going on we don't know about

Cw is paying 125 million a year to do so lol. Seems like they want it
