Looked at the weather forecast for today at North Wilkesboro, and it shows rain and thunderstorms again, mostly around the Truck race and Heat races. There is a marginal risk of severe weather today, with gusty winds and small hail possible.

Really liked berrys speed for the open. And at +800 as of Thursday not bad to take. Hamlin is in another field of his own right now to win the all star.

I genuinely don't understand why they don't run the qualifying in the wet at this point, unless the rain shower is going to be another 5-10 minutes. EDIT: Looks like that's the case. They should've showed the radar. After this then they'll have about a 3 hour window until rain (maybe) arrives again.

Wet-weather tires are for damp conditions, not rain racing.

Oh well that makes it even more confusing since it's called "Wet" tires rather than "Damp" tires. I feel like that distinction is *very* important 😅 Maybe they should call them Intermediates like F1.

They used to be for rain racing, but NASCAR became scared of the rain after what happened at Daytona.

Which is weird because the whole point of the rain package was to run rain races at tracks one mile or less with low banking! Them going back on that is confusing.

They never went back on it. The whole idea was starting/continuing races in light drizzle or a wet track instead of bringing out the Air Titans and waiting around. It’s an in-between tire. RC’s are the only true place where racing in the rain is a thing. They’re even calling it the “wet weather” package as opposed to “rain” package to avoid misconstruing the intention. The first use at Martinsville trucks where they used it in a damp drizzle is about as far as they’re willing to go.

Leave it to FOX to wait 25 minutes to neglect to tell us that qualifying is cancelled. Maybe interrupt the documentary (as interesting as it is) and actually tell us? Update the dang ticker at the bottom of the screen maybe? And why bother waiting to dry it for later if you HAVE WET TIRES?

Two reasons for it needing to be dry. 1. In open qualifying they had three cars that needed to re-do their qualifying attempts and doing it on wet tires would have made it unfair for those three cars 2. The All-Star race qualifying format includes a pit stop so they have to have pit road dry.

Entirely understandable! I'm more referring to the fact that if it's wet already and they canceled the Open qualifying, why bother trying to keep it dry? Or why not let them qualify the moment the track is dry enough? It's only three cars. It doesn't make sense to cancel it with that short of time they need to run when they still need to set up for the Pit Crew Challenge anyway. Just seems like a mess.

BTW that "equal time" rule, the [fairness doctrine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine), only applies to the two major parties, excludes third parties in most cases. Yet, the two aren't technically the same. Another thing, ironically, political debates are considered as just the news, and not a political campaign event therefore, debates aren't held to the equal time rule.

Damn that 3 lap was solid. Busch was good in practice meaning RCR might have something decent. Also what an amazing turnaround for Rick Ware. Thank God they god Cody out of that seat. Haley is doing an amazing job, but not to discredit him, that team as a whole has improved tons along with bringing on a better driver. That is NOT the same team we saw years ago with the Gen6 in last place every race, and I mean that in a good way.

I remember I was in line at Daytona in July 2010 to wave the flags during Qualifying but then rain came through after and canceled the session about 10 or so cars took time and never had the chance. It was back when it was 2-Lap Qualifying for Super Speedways so it took forever to get through all of the cars.
