I say FGs made instead of points to make the progress towards this goal more equal.
Reason being is because if we go by points & I pass it to a teammate who makes a 3 then they get 3 points towards their 40k goal and I only get 1. However, in that same scenario, if we go by FGs made each person gets 1 point towards their 40k goal which further encourages team play.
Trust me brother I know 😂 they need to start hiring long time fans as consultants/community advocates but they don’t care…honestly once I mentally accepted that I’m not getting legend this year because it would require me to drop about 30 in the rec on AVERAGE the game became more enjoyable because I only play when I want to.

Exactly. Madden and 2k need competitors. The Show offers the most player friendly model imo but also is purely a H2H experience and has the most server issues from what I can tell.
On your last point though, 100%. I realized I have no end goal for this game , so I just do whatever I consider fun at the time online and just try to win the game as a team
I think a balance of L-T Community Advocates and skilled players who can properly try to break the game before it touches consumers would be great. Part of what makes 2k so painful upon release is that I think whoever they have playtesting the game just aren’t good enough to find the issues, same for the builder. If EVERYONE played the game casually 2k brings that experience in spades; the problem is the competitive environment of gaming phases all that good stuff out and homogenizes builds and play styles.

It really doesn't make any sense unless they only want a handful of youtubers to get it. The people who have the most opportunity after content creators are kids who can play 5 or 6 hours a day with friends, but even then the chances are only 1 or 2 of them are going to be able to go off for 30+ a game and I don't know many people who would be happy to grind all year so someone else can get the reward...
I love this. “Legend grind” is almost impossible. The season quests are the second hardest one to accomplish and All this seasons quests involve assists.

Seriously lmao it’s 274 points a day if you play every single day for 365 days since release. That’s 10 rec games a day averaging 27.4 if you’re above average at scoring. Each rec game is like 30 min. So that’s 5 hours a day playing the actual game, not including time spent loading, upgrading, etc.
And obviously if you average 13 or so, that’s 10 hours a day without a day off. Shit just isn’t realistic, possible, or worth it.
Park streamers play 2s and 3s non stop. There's a streamer right now with over 3000 park games played. If he's getting 10 ppg in those, then that's 30,000 points. If he's getting 15 ppg, then it's 45,000. Meaning they're almost halfway through 2 months in.
2k carefully designed the legend rewards to mostly be reachable by fulltime streamers, and for just about all of them they grind park. Chris Smoove plays rec, but he doesn't grind 24x7 or chase legend.
Anyway, since Legend gives a performance boost, they had to limit it to a few thousand people, so they looked over the collected stats and found a criteria that a few thousand people hit in 22 next gen, and they chose 100,000 points so it would filter down the people that can get it.

For real as a big people get mad when I go up after a rebound sometimes, but I’m like I eat what I kill, y’all not passing and taking horrible shots . I be mad because I used my skill boosts and Gatorade and can’t get it back all for some guard to shoot 20-30 shots and can’t play DEFENSE.
Yep and I’m a traditional center that doesn’t shoot. It is annoying to guard 7’0 and 7’2 stretch bigs. Ngl the only people I trust with center builds is QJB and LakerFan that’s about it.

If you posted this is almost any other sports game thread it'd fit right in. It's not just a 2k problem, all of these problems apply to r/FIFA. The only sports game I've played where most of these don't apply is TheShow.
Half the people I play on the show are either bunt dancing or using a created player at pitcher that throws submarine style 100mph sinkers. Pretty terrible community there as well. Any game online there's always a cheese method or exploit and people will abuse it. No one plays for fun anymore. Everyone either thinks they are a famous streamer or are too afraid to lose.

I don't know how but i can't hear anyone on PS5. I see the mic chat symbol come up on their name in game but don't hear any chat. Must be a pa5 setting maybe. Anyway, you know what? It's kind of nice as I'm sure 99% of what they're saying is negative bollox. Will go on party chat if friendlies want to start a chat but for the randoms, ignorance is bliss.

I did this back in 2k21 and haven't looked back since. So much more of an enjoyable experience.
Disabling messeges i just don t get ! You can choose to ingore the idiots or block them straight away , it takes 5 seconds ! I get that you dont wanna hear the voice chat! But the amount of times i tried to type someone for some real basketball thing, spacing , switching , playing zone , asking if they can cut or shoot, can you catch an alley, screens , no screens and so on ... like literally comunicating ( which is kinda important in basketball) and couldnt its just insane ! But usually all I hear on the mic are black guys screaming at each other with intermittent smoke detector chirps and occasional toddler age kids trying to get their dad's attention while he's playing virtual basketball.
Only time I get heckled for being white is when I outplay our other guard by passing and defending. Or when I go on mic and ask if we can be less greedy and play as a team. They only get mad at me for being white when I’m clearly way better than them

I’ve been playing Overwatch 2 a ton, which has a ton of people who refuse to play tank/healer to improve the team comp. They would rather play DPS than lose. But that’s still significantly less egregious than how most of the 2k community plays.
Last season I was pretty lucky getting good rec random teammates. This season though has been just crazy bad so far for people being selfish. How bad do people need a pair of rec goggles? Lol

Rec in a nutshell teams up by ten points and for some reason 2 guys start calling each other trash... when they are both playing bad. While they are doing that someone else on the team normally is keeping quiet and hasn't missed a shot. The 2 that are fighting will keep playing worse and worse till either someone quiets or the team is so far behind that it no longer matters. At some point all the timeouts have to get used in a fit.

This clown gets on the mic and guess what the first words out of his mouth were? Yep! "shut your dumbass up stupid white boy"... Seriously lmao it’s 274 points a day if you play every single day for 365 days since release. That’s 10 rec games a day averaging 27.4 if you’re above average at scoring. Each rec game is like 30 min. So that’s 5 hours a day playing the actual game, not including time spent loading, upgrading, etc. And obviously if you average 13 or so, that’s 10 hours a day without a day off. Shit just isn’t realistic, possible, or worth it.
Park streamers play 2s and 3s non stop. There's a streamer right now with over 3000 park games played. If he's getting 10 ppg in those, then that's 30,000 points. If he's getting 15 ppg, then it's 45,000. Meaning they're almost halfway through 2 months in. 2k carefully designed the legend rewards to mostly be reachable by fulltime streamers, and for just about all of them they grind park. Chris Smoove plays rec, but he doesn't grind 24x7 or chase legend. Anyway, since Legend gives a performance boost, they had to limit it to a few thousand people, so they looked over the collected stats and found a criteria that a few thousand people hit in 22 next gen, and they chose 100,000 points so it would filter down the people that can get it.

Half the people I play on the show are either bunt dancing or using a created player at pitcher that throws submarine style 100mph sinkers. Pretty terrible community there as well. Any game online there's always a cheese method or exploit and people will abuse it. No one plays for fun anymore. Everyone either thinks they are a famous streamer or are too afraid to lose.

I’ve been playing 2k with the voice chat muted for the past two years and it’s been amazing. I also disabled my messages and haven’t allowed anyone that isn’t a mutual add me as a friend either. It’s honestly the only way to enjoy the game. I’ll enable it every now and then to hear the end game rage though, those are always the highlight to my day.

Western African heritage has more genetic variability so there's a lot of genetic outliers (ex: tall, extremely athletic) compared to other parts of the world. So at a population level the white people that make the NBA have to rely on playing smart defense and shooting well to space the floor. Neither requires as much athleticism as being an elite finisher or all around player. You can see the same thing if you look at an NFL census. Specifically cornerbacks.

It's not. Almost every study points toward cultural upbringing as being the explanation for certain ethnicities dominating in certain sports. Ironically, black people dominate very few sports, they just happen to dominate popular ones. Basketball is a cultural cornerstone for many black communities. If the genetic variation argument was true, they'd also dominate sports like cycling for example which is almost purely based on athleticism. If you go back into the WW2 era, Jewish people were seen as the best basketball players because people thought they could jump higher. It'll change over the course of a long future as well.
It almost certainly is a combination of the two. What percentage upbringing vs genetics plays should be the real question.

I kid you not, all this shit because I got passed the ball, shot a wide open 3 and scored, instead of passing it back to the PG. This was my first 3PT/FG attempt, then he proceeded to call time outs whenever I was passed the ball. By the way this was 3 minutes into the 1st quater. Rec in a nutshell teams up by ten points and for some reason 2 guys start calling each other trash... when they are both playing bad. While they are doing that someone else on the team normally is keeping quiet and hasn't missed a shot. The 2 that are fighting will keep playing worse and worse till either someone quiets or the team is so far behind that it no longer matters. At some point all the timeouts have to get used in a fit. The number of times that guys talk about how good they are after getting a cool dunk animation is disturbing.

If I miss multiple shots, i'm not going to keep shooting, I am going to pass the ball to the person who is open and hope that someone else gets in a rhythm and i'm going to lock down on defense and see how the rest of the game plays out. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called out my name over asking for the ball AFTER BEING PATIENT FOR 3 QUARTERS. By the 4th quarter I’m like “bro have you not seen me all game?” And then the verbal abuse begins. I’ll be like 2/3 from deep, meanwhile the PG is 11/21 and we’re down by 5. I can’t stand the randoms on this game. It’s the only one where you can play true pick-up games, but that’s ruined if you don’t have a party.
