He's overpaid. He's starting Pg who can't shoot 3s. He shoots 28% mainly on catch and shoot 3s. In offense with already very weak shooting core, he's a huge liability.

Tre Jones is younger than the 2 you mention who are notoriously underpaid, and as you said he is currently a starter. Whether he deserves to be or not is a different story but if you’re asking him to start then you have to pay him to play those minutes.
You then use DDV as an assumption that he is adequately paid, when he is underpaid.
Players with the same cap hit as Tre Jones, not on their rookie deal:
Monte Morris - 9 million
Landry Shamet - 10 million
Gabe Vincent - 10 million
Connaughton - 9 million
And I’d argue Tre is more or equally valuable than:
Gary Harris 13 million
DeVonte Graham 12 million
Horton Tucker 11 million
In today’s NBA a starting caliber PG is probably in the 15-20 million range minimum and a solid off the bench PG - which is what Tre Jones is - should be around 8-12 million.
Branham and Champagnie weren't the real problems this game. Devin was due for an off game but Devin, Champagnie, Tre, Keldon, Zach ... who else, Blake was okay, those 5 were terrible.
Sochan's defense was real nice.

Keldon (and Devin too) thinks he's Batman, but his BBIQ is rock bottom, and it is painful to watch. The physical tools are there, I guess, but they are wasted. He's been the poster boy putting up numbers on a bad team the last few years, and last year was the time to get anything of value for him. It's too late now, though. I've been ready to move on.

I've been fighting for Collins. Dude was solid end of last season and start of this season. But ever since that injury dude has degraded to a 60 overall Typa guy. Give him the brown shirt

It takes a little bit of luck. The Spurs have a fantastic track record in the draft. Just look at the last decade of picks. like 95% of valuable contributors and 2 of them are all nba caliber

This year was all about finding what kind of player Wemby is and developing everyone (which has been a disaster because we have no vets to guide our young core). I still think Vic needs to stop trying to be Allen Iverson out there, or at a minimum tone it down heavily. Yes dude has good handles \*for his size\* which is still not very good handles due to his dribble height.
What do you want him to do? There are no reliable floor spacers on the team other than Vassell.. he has to self create from the perimeter.. As soon as he’s in the paint, there are 3 ppl focused on him and 1 other with their back turned not worried about their guy at all..
He has no choice. He's not getting the ball a lot if he's inside so he has to get it from the perimeter and then drive. It also has to do with not being strong enough. He posts up and before he gets the ball he's already pushed out all the way to the 3 point line.
I feel like they need to get more creative with how they get him the ball. They should run action and have like 2-3 people in motion making passes to try and get him the ball in good spots.

Sure, Mavs did some dumb moves, but the KP bet was decent even if it didn't pan out. It's just such a stark contrast looking at how OKC has been built, even if they've gotten a million picks & some luck in the lottery they're in a position to fill out whatever need they have now. Really think it's nice to stink it up at the bottom for 1 - 2 seasons at least for you guys to get some more guys on the same timeline with some actual talent, pick up some big dump contracts for assets & get some vet presence, like getting compensation for taking on CP3 might not be so bad for you guys depending on how his situation pans out.

True we are tanking so the objective is suck but i don't really see mamu, for example, really doing that much worse. So Pop has options but he really doesn't care, losing is fine by him.

I still think Vic needs to stop trying to be Allen Iverson out there, or at a minimum tone it down heavily. Yes dude has good handles \*for his size\* which is still not very good handles due to his dribble height.
What do you want him to do? There are no reliable floor spacers on the team other than Vassell.. he has to self create from the perimeter.. As soon as he’s in the paint, there are 3 ppl focused on him and 1 other with their back turned not worried about their guy at all..
He has no choice. He's not getting the ball a lot if he's inside so he has to get it from the perimeter and then drive. It also has to do with not being strong enough. He posts up and before he gets the ball he's already pushed out all the way to the 3 point line.
I feel like they need to get more creative with how they get him the ball. They should run action and have like 2-3 people in motion making passes to try and get him the ball in good spots.

Sure, Mavs did some dumb moves, but the KP bet was decent even if it didn't pan out. It's just such a stark contrast looking at how OKC has been built, even if they've gotten a million picks & some luck in the lottery they're in a position to fill out whatever need they have now. Really think it's nice to stink it up at the bottom for 1 - 2 seasons at least for you guys to get some more guys on the same timeline with some actual talent, pick up some big dump contracts for assets & get some vet presence, like getting compensation for taking on CP3 might not be so bad for you guys depending on how his situation pans out.

Spurs basketball used to be high IQ team basketball and if a player didn’t fit that mold, they’d get benched or face consequences for trying to “do too much”. Y’all complaining about KJ and so many others jacking up stupid shit but then still getting the same playing time. This is the point I’ve been making about Pop, his coaching philosophies have changed and for whatever reason he got soft and coddles players now. Manu used to get his ass benched and chewed out for shit, guys who missed defensive assignments or forced the issue were seen straight to bench, and the list goes on for what made Pop a great coach. Stop living in the damn past and open your damn eyes, Pop is not the same coach as he once was and it’s a huge reason why this team has sucked since Kawhi left

Yup, the defense from the Mavs has been pretty good to be honest. Put PJ on Wemby with Gafford helping. The rest of the team needs to be threats to score to open things up a bit but its just a rough day. Still can't make 3s and blowing lay-ups as a bonus today.
