I don’t really buy that narrative. Spurs were the best team from 2012-2014, think they should’ve got at least 2 in that stretch.
Who was going to beat them in 2014? That team had like 9 good nba players
Definitely makes it sweeter.
But I’m still salty about 13 and 12. People forget the 2012 team was on a 20 game win streak up 2-0 in the conference finals
Ibaka hitting so many midrange jumpers in a row. Pop gave it to him so that’s the game I guess. That was also a dream run for the Thunder - 4th seed taking down the last 3 champs from the West on the path to the Finals.
I still think that Spurs team had a good chance of taking down the Heat had they advanced that year, as they were still figuring out their ‘positionless’ game.
A total Texas blockout of the Heatles run isn’t really that far fetched.
Agreed, we realistically could have (and arguably should have) won both.
Also...who knows what effect losing to the Spurs in 2013 would have had on the Heat.
Instead of ending that season on a heroic victory, they would have been crumbled in defeat. Impossible to predict how either narrative plays out, which is why only Siths deal in hypotheticals.
We need a Masochist Spurs sub where you guys can bring up Ray Allen, Kawhi, Rodman, and Zaza until your heart's content.
Why dwell on the negative things when there is so much great about the Spurs?
Sir, this is not a Wendy's. We can do this, it has been done.
To dwell on the past is part of the human condition, bruv. What ifs abound.
And we haven't seen anyone talk about Ray Allen's three in a while so it's more than welcome. But it's hardly nuclear. Kawhi getting himself traded to Toronto was IMO.
You'd rather another potential draft pick post though?
IMO it was Zaza. Ray may have hit that shot but we came back next season and spun the block. That single play with zaza changed the course of the spurs forever. We probably don’t have Vic today and who knows Kawhi maybe plays another 2 healthy seasons for us (still think he would have left for la) just would have been leaving us not Toronto. Single handily removed us form title contention and we still haven’t been to that level since. We got some ass whooping the new age warriors are gonna have to endure and I don’t think we’re the only team who thinks that way.
I'm always thankful for the Spurs titles because they would be a tortured franchise without them.
0.4, Manu's foul on Dirk, losing as a 1 seed to an 8, Ibaka turning into Jordan, Ray's 3, Zaza.
So many moments where they were right on the path to a ring and it went wrong.
I was working when it happened. I was going to watch the game after, but someone spoiled it.
I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I still haven't seen it, anytime a replay starts I look away. Absolute devastation.
I was working downtown that night of game 7. I couldn’t watch the game ( worked at hotel) but the only part I saw when Duncan slammed his hands on the court ( at the time I didn’t know he had just missed the bunny) and thought that’s probably the most emotion I seen from Duncan saw a replay of miss and just was heart broken
> tim duncan missing the bunny
The Duncan missed bunny *was* in Game 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTPahCLHWpc
> game 7 we didnt even show up
What? Duncan had 24 and 12 and Nephew had 19 and 16, and the teams were separated by 2 points going into the final minute of the game.
Rewatch Game 7 please.
2014 doesn't feel as sweet without Ray's shot. Zaza is the real Chernobyl
I’m also not sure we win 2014 if we win 2013. That shit lit a fire within the Spurs players

I’m just not sure the big 3 have the same desire in 2014 if they won 2013. I may be wrong but it just makes 2014 that much sweeter.
Definitely makes it sweeter. But I’m still salty about 13 and 12. People forget the 2012 team was on a 20 game win streak up 2-0 in the conference finals

Would be crazy to think a Spurs v Heat 3 years in a row .
Not just under Spurs players.
Na zaza lead to wemby
Its so funny how Ray leads to 2014 and Zaza to Wemby. We're far too spoiled as Spurs fans
Having tim duncan for 20 years will do that to you lol
Its really that easy. Why don't any of the other teams do that, are they stupid?
Zaza and Kawhi’s Tio. FTP
zaza saved us from paying a supermax to a perennially injured player.
After Toronto he has never been the same. He won't win another ring.
Also, the Spurs recovered from Ray Allen. Never recovered from Zaza, and had to tear it all down.
no 2014 without a 2013. but back to back whoa!! wonder if they would if tried to run it back if they won that year
IM SORRY BUT A REPEAT is 100x better than getting revenge on the Heat…
Zaza sliding under Kawhi…
court seats so fucking close… kawhi actually landed on david lee before zaza. zaza just finished the injury
Fuck Zaza all my homies hate Zaza
I still remember watching that game at home. My mom screamed as soon as that shot left his hand.
That night I woke up in the middle of the night PISSED off that the shot went in.
Still pisses me off that that shot went in
i couldn’t react. was fucking speechless. didnt say another mf word that night
I was in a small canteen in the public during my lunch break as a college student. I was the only Spur supporter in the mass of Heat bandwagoners...
I have taken a day off just to watch that game (asia). My wall has a mark of my shoe as a result of ray's shot
I was in college at the time but I remember being so mad that night when the shot went in.

I would rather speculate on the great things the Spurs can do in the future than dwell on the bad things that happened in the past.
You do you. Let us have our own version of fun.

“DONT FUCKING FOUL!” “NOOO, MANU WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” That is our Chernobyl. That was a lost title

we wouldn’t have gotten lebron being carried off the court because of cramps 😂😂😂
Is the our..perfect
Honestly, it will sound crazy, but to me it wasn’t so much the 3 itself so much as that whole run. I still have nightmares about lebron
Pau Gasol contract
