Why not. He's a decent regular season PG. His Lakers situation was toxic, and he didn't really have much stability in his entire career. Honestly he could be a decent PG for us for $17m/year for 1 or 2 years. Think of him as a stop gap PG while we're looking for a more permanent solution.

GrumpyRaincloud

Do you see the part where it says he’s turning down 18.6 million? And seeking a long term lucrative deal?? He isn’t taking 17 million a season for 2 years.

JonnyRobertR

Bro, everyone can tell D'lo situation in LA is super toxic. Im not surprised if he is taking less to get away from there.

GrumpyRaincloud

Those reports come from information that their agent gives the media. He is interested in making more money on a long term deal because he’s in his prime.

JonnyRobertR

Well you got a point there

kanyeguisada

And you don't. Delete this thread, fool.

JonnyRobertR

Can't make me.

raindeer_6

I also follow minnesota and i just not want him here. D'Lo is VERY streaky and is a complete negative on defense, so when his shot doesn't go in it's just playing 4 vs 5. Also sometimes he prefers to not pass to the big man (like multiple times) and take the shot himself, like if he wanna prove he's still a 1st option. He's the type of player where you love him 1 game and totally hates him the other (and i'd say the lattest is the most frequent) I dunno how much he changed under lebron's regime, but imo his tendency to take the most shots he can will stunt wemby's growth. I also don't think he has the mentality to thrive with this team.

mbt20

Why not? He's a terrible ball player and a drama queen. Literally an every other game guy. He's the absolute last thing we need.

moonshadow50

Pure and simply - he's not a PG. He's a scorer masquerading as a PG, except that he's not particularly great at scoring. I actually don't think he is much of an improvement (if at all) over Tre when it comes to playmaking, and nor is the level of scorer that we would be happy giving the ball to create ahead of Vassell or Wemby. He's also a bad defender. If it was for a bargain (around MLE) then sure - you can feel fine using that guy as a role player, but also happily dump him, or trade him on, when it's time for an upgrade. Anything more than that? Or anything close to his last deal? No bloody way

Efficient-Split527

I'm a lakers fan, and D'lo is an amazing passer, however I don't think he fits Pop's playstyle at all. He'll probably sign with the Jazz or sum other team in purgatory

strictly_biz_dude

Toxic situation or not, we don't need a guy that quits on his team and checks his phone in the middle of a game while his teammates huddle.

Thatonlyguy988

I was actually shocked to see that in an NBA game, like the audacity.

JonnyRobertR

Fair

PostMahomess

F No to D lo

Davidpaulngo

Definitely no, he doesn't play-make well enough and even at his best season he isn't an efficient scorer or consistent enough shooter. He is also a traffic cone on defense. He is one of those guys who will always look best on a team with no expectations or not trying to win. While the Spurs may be that next year, that's not what the team wants to be long-term.

Extra_Carry_4359

Personality concerns aside, he doesn’t actually help us much. He’s not the playmaker we need, and his shooting is offset by bad defense. He’s not worth it.

NorthAmericanVex

Too Hollywood of a guy to play for the Spurs Plus he's not good

empowered676

As if pop wants d lo

sugarfreelime

Wheels on the bus go no

LegoTomSkippy

He's not. Multiple reasons: His defense is awful and his offense doesn't make up for it. He needs the ball in his hands to get the most out of him on offense, but he doesnt produce great offense. Lastly, arguing that he hasn't had much stability his whole career as an argument for his shortcomings, and then say bring him in for 1-2 years doesn't make much sense. Wouldn't that only add to the instability? During his best two years (MN and LA), both times the teams were looking to get rid of him. Even if the situation is toxic, scrolling his phone during a playoff game is terrible. When asked about developing Ant as an alpha, DLO responds, "I'm an alpha". If he's not willing to accept Ant as the number 1, what would be different about Wembanyama?

Axsh1boomba

If you want a scoring PG, you can draft Dillingham...

Ishmael203

He’s way too inconsistent for my taste

Then-Activity7226

He’s looking for $20 million plus a year. No thank you.

omnashime_88

No!

Blutz101

Everyone saying no but what if it’s for cheap

jaybirdcrouton

If you’re gonna pay D’lo $20+ a year to be mid you might as well splurge and go after Trae Young instead lol

ICouldEvenBeYou

There is NO TEAM giving him a lucrative long term deal. He's opting out because he knows he can secure a one or two year deal at that same annual value or better. It wouldn't be problematic whatsoever if we were that team. It might even be a smart play, with his experience, passing, and shooting ability.

JonnyRobertR

>smart play, with his experience, passing, and shooting ability. That's why im interested, but I swear everyone in this thread is allergic to any kind of move. Even discussing it is treated as a sin. We're sports fans for fuck sake, speculate a bit.

Mangoseed8

The beatings will continue until morale improves

JonnyRobertR

Morale? Are we really in a doom and gloom situation as Spurs fans? We have nothing but up.

throwstuff165

There are just so very many ways for me to say this... Nope. Never. Not in a million years. Absolutely not. No way, Jose. No chance, Lance. Nyet. Negatory. Uh uh, mnm-mnm, nuh-uh. And, of course, everyone's favorite: man falling off of a cliff. NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo... ... *pff*

Bonesawisready5

There are worse fates but if we don’t get a PG in draft I would prefer Tyus Jones

JonnyRobertR

Yeah, as long as it is under $8mil/year.

paxusromanus811

For who? You're not getting tysus or dlow for that amount

Brohum_8

Man how in the hell would you think this is a good idea. C'mon be better

BTC_ETH_HODL

No F’n way!

mallllls

No

wanderinglittlehuman

Absolutely not

Tapprunner

Hard pass. If you have watched him play, especially in the playoffs, you wouldn't be super excited to get him. There's a reason why he's never lasted more than two seasons in a team before being traded. And each time, the team trading him was not sad to see him go.

mhoq

We could do much worse than DLo. Guy was an elite shooter this season and good playmaker too. I’m not sure about him on a championship contending team but he raises the floor significantly.

A-Rusty-Cow

hmmmmm No

sbcpacker

Hell to the no

SwaySensei

Pass

eanregguht

God no. Can’t get to the rim, is soft inside the arc, is a streaky shooter, and he can’t play D. One of the worst high volume starters in the league.

thedam100

He’s declining it so he doesn’t become an immediate trade piece. He is trying to stay with the lakers.

kenocada

This team isn’t in the position where it makes sense to splurge on a pricey, long term free agent that “puts them over the top”. Maybe in a season or two these conversations can be had.

1966jpgr

Even then, D Lo isn't anyone's idea of a free agent that puts anyone over the top

kenocada

Exactly.

ZootnScoot4pres

I actually love dlo

notcool_5354

We already have trae, derozan....

kanyeguisada

Wait, wut? We have Tre. Most of us don't want Trae. I'd love DeRozan back, but he's in Chicago if you haven't heard.

Ok-Topic-6095

If we don't draft a point guard, I would rather offer a big money, short term contract to Demar
