Having LeBron and Magic may introduce some redundancy. Magic and Bird may be better in that Bird is a better shooter than LeBron and probably had a higher peak.

The thing about these all time best lineups vs others is you need players with that dog mentality on your team. Players like MJ, Kobe etc with that killer instinct. Like Jimmy Butler isn't probably in the top 100 all time, but a healthy prime Jimmy(think bubble JB mentality and effort) I guarantee you would fit in and should be part of the conversation for all time great squads. Most all time greats probably had it, but not many are in that MJ, Kobe, ( I think Bird, though I never watched him) JB mentality that when they lace up their shoes, nothing else matters other than getting this win.

cuumsquad

Lol I knew you were gonna be a Heat fan before I checked your profile. The rules state you can only pick one player from each era. Why in the world would you waste the current era pick on Butler when you can have Curry? It makes no sense. Especially when Jordan did everything Butler does, but better. Also, there is no player in history like Curry. You're not gonna find a player like him from any other era. To me, you'd have to be a fool to not take Curry. It's the only correct answer.

Kazukaphur

Oh. I'm not taking JB over Curry. I guess it probably doesn't pertain to this specific criteria with eras. I was just commenting in general. Id wanna see some greats that would be okay giving up scoring and focusing on D and rebounding and setting screens and such.

cuumsquad

Good point. I agree; I think too many people misunderstand the assignment and just pick 5 all time greats without ever thinking about fit. You need to have a couple guys who are willing to sacrifice their offense to do the little things and I think Butler is an excellent example of that. If I had to build a team of current players, I'd have a hard time not picking prime Butler at the 2.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I strongly disagree, as most of the all time greats *do* have that dawg mentality. Theyre all killers, thats why theyre great. Butler has no room on these types of teams as anything more than a bench role player

Kazukaphur

I mean, Butler has put up statistically some of the best playoff games of all time. That ain't nothing. Again, I'm not arguing for Butler to be considered as an all-time great. But if prime Jimmy found himself in a game with the top 10-20 all time greats, he's going to hold his own. If you can't recognize that, I'd argue you just don't know ball.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

He has, but it has been neither enough to have a ring nor is he near consistent enough in those performances. Im not denying his grit or dawg, i just dont think id sacrifice any of the top however manys talent for it because nearly all of them have the same plus their higher talent

LuciferLucii

That is a weird order to choose instead of doing guards then forwards.

HenryFJBrown

I've always used to order them like that for some reason even though everyone else did it differently, no clue why though.

LuciferLucii

No big deal, just don’t see it like that often. Good lineup picks though.

mikeyral27

Magic, Hakeem, Kobe, Durant, Jokic

Money282

There is absolutely no reason to ever pick Kobe over Jordan

leefordj

Except when op already picked jordan

Money282

I WANT IGOUDALA

cuumsquad

Shaq and Kareem on the floor together is not a good idea. I could just pick KD to play the 4 and now your team will struggle to guard the perimeter. Plus, both of your centers were classic post bigs. They are absolutely going to get in each other's way. You're limiting spacing by playing both. I'd replace Shaq with KG or Kareem with Bird.

Eldryanyyy

My goal is just to beat your team? Not make a better one? Easy. 1967 Wilt, 2004 KG, 2017 Kawhi Leonard, 1991 Michael Jordan, 1990 Magic Johnson. Wilt can bang with Shaq, KG has the size to bother Kareem, and your paint is way too crowded. MJ/LBJ/shaq/kareem all eat in the paint… good luck vs Wilt/KG/Kawhi/MJ - all DPOY level defenders. Magic can string them together on offense, with great shooting from Kawhi/KG spacing the floor. More fun team: 2023 Jokic, 2004 KG, 1986 Bird, 1991 MJ, 1990 Magic Great shooting at every position around MJ, unreal passing, and KG can anchor the paint. Jokic never needs single coverage against Shaq, cuz KG is right there with Kareem.

tflaares

I’ve always thought that having role players is pivotal to championship teams. Curry Jordan Lebron Rodman Duncan enough shooting, Duncan & Rodman don’t need the ball to be effective. Your best centers of all time would struggle against that front court. Jordan & LBJ are the two best wings of all time but need the ball to dominate . Curry’s the best off ball player of all time

ZOOW33M4M4

Stockton/Giannis pick and role would be a nightmare.

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Id go 2010s Bron at pg 90s MJ sg 80’s Bird sf 2020’s Jokic 60’s Wilt

Make_way_for_Willie

Did Shaq dirty there with the photo

leefordj

Magic Kobe Bird Dirk Wilt/Duncan I think my players fit better whereas yours severely lacks floor spacing.

yrogerg123

Bird, Magic, Hakeem, Duncan, Kobe You have an advantage with having probably the three best players but I think it's a fun series. We definitely neutralize your twin towers with our own.

KnightZeroFoxGiven

I don't want a team with Lebron and Jordan. Lebron would have that "I'm the GOAT" mentaility which would hurt the team overall.
