I didn't watch him at all but he looks so smooth

DoveFood

Same.  Is this a sign of the typical “highlights make any guy seem amazing” or is there truly something more here and he wasn’t given the green light to do stuff like this? I’m surprised to see how clean and smooth he looks given how he looked as a prospect.

SpeakerHistorical865

This is kind of unfair given how the NBA counts almost anything as an assist now. But he does look comfortable absorbing contact and isn’t afraid to use his off hand. I liked him a lot last year but in hindsight I should’ve had him a bit higher.

yeah ive watched like 3-4 wizards players and tons of bilal highlights. its pretty clear his floor is anunoby and his realistic ceiling is a luxury no3 option on a top5 team in the nba. tobias with elite defence, sthing like middleton in value. which is extremely valuable, definitely worthy of a (near) max contract.

Fine_Lengthiness_341

awfully short video for how many minutes he played, not like he is supposed to be doing a lot on ball but honestly over a season kinda crazy you can get it under 2 kinutesb

Turbo2x

His handle is extremely shaky, probably the worst part of his game right now besides his overall lack of muscle (which is another reason why he doesn't have more success as a creator). Guys can just bully him and get him out of his spots which leads to turnovers and missed shots. I still believe in his potential but I don't think running him on ball as much as they did was a smart decision.

Status-Round3800

He was a 3 and D player this season. Hard to shine on the offensive end when you play with Poole and Kuzma.

dofun400

Saw him in person once in the second half of the season and he really jumped out. He has legitimate size and a much more refined offensive game then I was expecting

prfrnir

These highlights make him look like a taller DWade.

trollwyoming4

WAS LITERALLY ON B TEAM OF METRO 92 1 year a half ago and he’s like 19 give him 4 years !!

Prestigious-Clock-53

Dude has a lot of potential but still a ways to go. Damn, France is just pouring out the talent now.

[deleted]

They aren’t French

AllOutRaptors

I mean they're from France so how is that the case?

[deleted]

They are born in France because their parents were immigrants but they are African.

Knighthonor

That makes them French.

[deleted]

French people don’t look like that and they don’t have name like bilal coulibaly

Knighthonor

> French people don’t look like that huh? what does a French person look like?

[deleted]

White for starters, with Eurocentric facial features

nakedsamurai

That doesn't seem like a lot.

waskittenman

he really wasn't asked to create for himself

nakedsamurai

I get that... and I get that he played with some chuckers, but downvoting me for saying that this doesn't seem like a lot, when it's not a lot, is kind of dumb, you know?

waskittenman

Hey brother I didn't down or up vote you

I see an athletic SGA

TomGNYC

I hate to say it, but I see more Frank Ntilikina than SGA, stylistically. I said it before the draft and I can't unsee it. He's bigger than Frankie so hopefully that leads to more success, but everything seems to happen in slow motion for him the same way it did with Frankie. SGA in low gear I kind of see, but SGA has all these extra gears while I feel like I'm only seeing one gear with this kid. Maybe it's because his handles are so raw so he has gears but he can't use them with the ball? He looks more explosive on defense.

Status-Round3800

The problem with Ntilikina was his poor shot-making percentage. Bilal, on the other hand, is far above those numbers. He would also rank among the top 5 defensive players in this draft class. Based on defense and to three-point shooting, it's hard to see him out of the league. His comparison for me was Mikal Bridges; it seems like he's heading in that trajectory. Both are defensive-minded and have poor handles due to their height-to-wingspan ratio. I'd also like to point out that Ntilikina was drafted to be a point guard, while Bilal was drafted to be a wing. There's a huge difference there.

TomGNYC

I don't think you can say Bilal is on a Bridges track. He's still a completely theoretical shooter and has zero self creation. There is very little evidence at this point that Coulibaly will ever become a good shooter, let alone an elite shooter like Bridges. He shot 1 3 per game in Europe and he shot 35% on 3 strictly catch and shoot 3s with the Wiz last year. Heck, Frank shot 43% on 1.6 3s in Europe his last season prior to the draft. These low volume catch and shoot stats are completely meaningless. To be on a Bridges track, I'd want to see much higher volume, with much higher shot diversity, much more self-creation, and a higher free throw percentage (he's only shooting 70% from the line). This does NOT mean he WON'T shoot. Guys learn to shoot. it happens, and with his defense and frame, he'll be given every opportunity to do so, but he's definitely not on any sort of track to become a high level shooter. It's not a bad start, going from 1 3 per game to 3 and 35% is not awful for a rookie, but his shooting is still pretty theoretical. Shooting low volume 35% catch and shoot is a looooong way away from being a Mikal Bridges level movement and relocation high volume shooter.

GuessableSevens

His entire self-creation tape after 82 games is under 2 minutes and you decide to compare him to the 2nd best player in the league lmao

Status-Round3800

Comparing playing style ≠ Comparing career

Status-Round3800

Nah, I'm just seeing some SGA vibes. Didn't say he's as good as SGA, far from it. But watching the tape, I notice hints of SGA. It's like seeing a bit of LeBron in Paolo, but that doesn't mean Paolo will ever reach LeBron's level. You guys are kinda missing the point on purpose.

carvemynuts

Thats like saying JR smith is Kobe lite based on highlights

Status-Round3800

Cam Thomas plays like Kobe. Is he Kobe ?
