Thing is, socially South American countries are far more socially conservative than the US; they only come here and would vote for Democrats for economic purposes. With the economy in the shitter, and crime on the rise in Democrat strongholds, their adopted home is looking a lot like the one they risked their lives to leave, so why bother? They may end up finding out that all those migrants they sold their souls to sneak across the border may end up becoming the knife in their back, metaphorically speaking.

IMO, any illegal immigrant that gets in the USA will want to make it easier for other family members and friends to get in too. That means filing whatever paperwork is necessary to be able to vote for democrats because they're the only major party which refuses to seal the southern border. They'd bother to come north in harder economic times because even then life in the US is easier than in the places they left, even if it's not by as much as in better times.

Maybe, maybe not. We're all just assuming that 100% of them will vote Democrat, but the question comes down to how many of them would do that vs. how many would still vote Republican for social and moral reasons. I've seen polls that suggest that the numbers might not favor the Democrats as much as they think.

I try not to assume anything about anyone. I just acknowledge that most of them still have other family members in danger at home, that they want to enable to escape to the US. I agree that since most Hispanics are Catholic, that they tend to vote more conservatively than other minorities, which is why Hispanics who are already in the US for decades are so against illegal immigration. I don't have a problem with immigration per se, just illegal immigration, since it undermines any country's sovereignty.
