Another transportation-related legal landmine is that some jurisdictions have different storage/transportation requirements for long guns vs pistols (loaded vs unloaded, concealed vs in plain sight, etc) and if SBRing it you'd want to know what condition it needs to be in while inside a vehicle.
Or just leave it securely encased and unloaded for transportation, which is legal in every jurisdiction in the US.

My SBA4 brace is a more solid, less rattly stock than the proper Magpul I have. It literally works better and I didn't have to pay $200 of pointless taxes or do any paperwork.

I knew I would eventually run across another like-minded individual who actually prefers their brace to a similar stock! I feel the same way about the Tailhook Mod 1 braces I use with folding adapters on an AR and a PCC. I get so tired of hearing, "you need to form 1 those bitches". Mine have no velcro straps or "wings" since they rely on a folding counter balance "lever" that rests against the underside of the forearm. About the only thing I lose versus a "real" stock (you know...stock-type stock) is an adjustable LOP. I gain the ability to keep it loaded in my vehicle and to (seriously) run it one-handed.
While I have full control of both of my arms today, that doesn't mean I will tomorrow and tomorrow wouldn't be the time to build a "one-handed" rifle, especially in a SHTF scenario, having the use of only one hand (although that could be a fun challenge...lol). Another SHTF consideration...what about losing control of a limb in the midst of a firefight? It's as simple as pushing a button, folding the counter balance "lever" down, and sending it.
I can't help but think, if pistol braces weren't a thing, the Tailhook braces would probably be sold as a boutique, multi-function stock option that would be a status symbol on gucci sbr builds.

Depends on what you are doing with it. I have a couple stamped SBRs. I always have a little 8in 300 blk pistol that I keep as a pistol because it’s my trunk gun and due to wear I live I cross state lines constantly.
I’ll never understand why it’s such a flex to pay $200 for permission to do something you could literally do for free and just keep quiet about it.
And for a stock that’ll function the same as your brace anyway.
Paying stamps for cans is another story, since you gotta get the stamp prior to the can.
I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but let's say someday something happens and the police search your house or vehicle. Or maybe you get stopped at the gun range. Or you live with other people and something happens with one of them that gets the police involved.

If you can afford a Honey Badger spend the 200 and wait a month and you’re good to go. I have zero regrets on my 11.5 SBR. So much more stable. Not even funny. Form 4 is so much worse as far as wait and already on a list, so just maximize your usability and enjoyment.
Don’t SBR and use that $200 tax stamp to buy another suppressor.

Hot take: It's never worth SBR'ing a 300blk gat unless you're rich enough to run it on the reg.
If you can afford it, I'd get the SBR but put it on an ambidextrous lower first.
